  1. Reporting for juice bar duty anytime but I'll need a Rachelville visa, I'm way up in Canuckistan. Me either though mostly I am laughing. Honest. I just had some blood work done to test for arthritis but I haven't heard back yet. My mother has it as do two of my sisters and it seems to be related to Celiac through the gut. I am going on the...
  2. Cissie, preach away. I am no expert. Like you I've gotten the wink, wink response plus I've had the occasional smirk. I think people now think that the Celiac is just more of my "food trip" meanwhile I see them getting sicker. I stood behind a man in the drugstore who paid $356.00 for his prescriptions and people think organic food is expensive. Rachel...
  3. Yes, I think being complication free for so long is impressive, obviously you have taken very good care of yourself. I hope this is just a glitch and that you will continue to be well for a very long time.
  4. Cissi, well said. I was involved with an Organic Producer's group when organic producers were working towards establishing standards for inspection. I was the little voice in the corner saying this is not a good idea, set up standards, increase profits and the end will be big business buying up organics and changing the standards to suit themselves. That...
  5. Where did I get the idea low blood pressure was on the list? I realized when I went to get this that in fact I had been looking at the signs of low adrenal function and low blood pressure wasn't on it either. I don't think I started out as a high histamine type but I feel like this illness is taking me in that direction.
  6. Celia, I have pain like that, it feels like claws around my rib cage getting tighter and tighter. I've gone from a 36DD to a 32D since Christmas and I'm really glad because wearing a bra is just awful sometimes. I have been connecting this pain to the Ankylosing Spondylitis, apparently it is very common that women with this arthritis find bras difficult...
  7. Emily, I am so sorry, I imagine it must of been very scary. I'm so glad friends were with you. I don't know a thing about Celiac and strokes but I wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers. How are you feeling now?

    Ursula, you rock.
  9. Ravenwoodglass, I suspect that may be what is necessary to get Doctors and Insurance Companies to pay attention. I think a real challenge to anyone with gluten intolerance is having to find the courage to trust yourself and your body rather than some supposed expert. It is wonderful if you find a good doctor but far too many are happy to prescribe drugs...
  10. I am serious about humor. You could debut at a Celiac convention. I've thought about it too, I make myself laugh all the time but I am afraid my humor tends to be caustic. As an example I think calling what we have "Celiac Disease" is like saying someone who will die from peanuts has "Peanut Disease" the difference being Peanut Disease only lasts...
  11. Susan, have you thought about becoming a Celiac comic? I've known that neither oatmeal nor quinoa agree with me and now I understand why, thanks. What I find interesting is that "I know that" feeling that is the OMG moment versus the "I know that but I don't want to believe it" feeling. It seems to me that sharing this information promotes OMG moments...
  12. Bernice, thanks for the information about the book. Doctors may agree that the intestinal biopsy is the gold standard, they profit from the testing and the fact is if it takes more than one biopsy to diagnose Celiac they make twice the money, three times.....this is not to slam all doctors, I know there are many good ones. For me, I have decided that the...
  13. It does seem odd, has anyone sent her a personal message? Maybe her computer is down.
  14. I am suspicious of gelcaps that are made from gelatin, we talked about this on the OMG thread and I quit taking my supplements in gelcaps because I had a burning pain that felt like I was being glutened after taking them. I plan on re-introducing them one by one once I am stable to see what I clearly react to but in the interim I am not taking them. I was...
  15. Rachel, this totally makes sense to me. If histimines cause heat/inflammation that prevents healing then logically anti-histimines must be cool/anti-inflammatory and if the inflammation is stopped the healing can occur. I think you have made an important discovery that will help. I completely agree with you about healing, I don't want a lifetime of medication...
  16. I am new too and I think there can be a problem with getting a diagnosis. Have you been reading through the threads? This is a great forum and I'm sorry not to be so helpful but I have to sleep, just ask more questions. I think you may have found a place where you will find some answers. Welcome.
  17. Okay, I'm sleepy but I thought I would take just one little peek in before I fell asleep and found this: Now I can't stop laughing, we are insane, insanely brilliant at having fun. Tears are rolling down my face. Night all, sweet dreams.
  18. I admit I am torn on this, on one hand the only people that I tend to feel frustrated with are family and close friends who do the complaining and because I love them I hope that they will get away with their unwholesome habits and never suffer and then....this is where it brings out the worst in me...... I would be glad to NEVER see their smirks at how...
  19. Wow. Rachel, that is amazing, yet another layer peeled away. Congratulations.
  20. Patti, after reading what you had to say about the water challenge last night I went out and bought a case of water. Thank you so much for posting about this, I think you may be on to something. Reading your post I realize that I have been in denial about heart palpitations that have started in the last year or so. I just kept thinking menopause. So,...
  21. Robbin, I'm afraid he has a point.
  22. Chelsea, you are awesome. When I reflect on my medical history and my work history I can see that the migraines I suffered for years started when I worked in a bakery. I was twenty three and I would finish work, go home and fall into a stupor, sort of sleep for a couple of hours and wake with my mouth dry, puffy eyes and the feeling I had a hangover...
  23. Hi Ryan, nice to meet you and I completely agree with you about the Prince Consort. Okay, if relevations is the word for an OMG moment in Rachelville then I think saying, "I'm spinached" means I am rolling on the floor laughing my *** off. Thanks for the avatar directions, it puts me one step closer to getting a photo up.

I notice that on this forum there are many people who's signatures include other diagnoses and it seems that a diagnosis of Celiac for far too many people is only made after years of being sick. I was under the impression that the cascade of illnessess that befalls Celiacs was as a result of being simultaneously poisoned and starved and that these illnesses...
  25. I cannot stop laughing about this. I am glad it helped given it made such a mess, not glutened, spinached. Robbin, I share your anger, I'm so sorry that you had a reaction to this and I too wonder about the FM kicking in. My mother has FM also and as I said before had a bad reaction to the contrast. The question I have is if someone has...
