    ARCHIVED Food Diaries

Mine sounds much like yours except I don't count calories and I do enter moods because I have noticed a real relationship between how I eat and how I feel. Most recently I have realized that I can trace a certain mood to foods high in histamines, though I don't seem to have overt physical symptoms. Oh, and I also note the day's activities. Interesting...
  2. I have this problem when I step away for a few hours and find pages to read when I return, I start to read and then I want to respond to a comment but I want to keep reading and I think, oh, I'll remember and by the time I get to the end there are five comments I want to respond to but I've forgotten the first four. Was it Ryan who said he got a phone...
  3. No Maam, we haven't had much trouble until the recent disappearal of Miss Rachel and shucks, she came back fine, still if you would like the job we'd be real happy to have you stay for a while. The money ain't good but the hours are flexible and we just know our magical auxi-gro protecting geese would be happy for the company.
  4. I find eating dairy and soy lead to bloating, are you eating either of them?
  5. Thanks for this thread. Perhaps you already know this, I think Chelsea started a thread a little while back about soy in supposedly 100% olive oil. I indulged in some organic chocolate, dairy free but with soy and have been bloated and had stomach pains, I was hoping I could have some small treat but it is the only soy I have had in a while and...
  6. Andrea, I am in awe, I remembered Rachel's mom posting but couldn't locate it.
  7. We'll have to have t-shirts made up that say, "RACHEL of RACHELVILLE CALL HOME" and send them to all our friends in the Bay Area. Cecile, I can feel your wonderful spirit all the way up here. You do good just being you. I think one of the most helpful things we can do is practice friendliness, as the Dalai Lama said, "kindness is my...
  8. I'm around, so glad to hear that the storm has broken up Cecile, now if Rachel would check in....
  9. Thanks Tarnalberry, I don't drink the flavoured green teas but I would never have thought of a green tea and ginger tea having gluten in it.
  10. Okay, I'll look for it at the bookstore and peruse it.
  11. For me the decision to be gluten free is based on how I feel not on a medical diagnosis. I have only been trying for three months and have accidentally glutened myself several times. I also gave up dairy after the first month. I can't say that I am recovered yet, I am still struggling but relative to how I felt prior to being gluten free there is no comparison...
  12. I am hoping that Rachel is having a wonderful time and is thinking we know she has true ice cream vitality but I admit I am a little bit worried. I think we must collectively wish for Rachel to post and let us know how she is doing. Do you know the expression, "the long body"? It means the ways in which we are connected that we do not know but sometimes...
  13. Green tea is gluten free and in fact high in Vitamin K, which is helpful if you bruise easily. Welcome.
  14. After reading this thread I looked for further information on Dr.Green and came up with this Open Original Shared Link with him. I don't know that I will buy his book after hearing him. I found his emphasis on a simple blood test giving an accurate diagnosis of Celiac misleading. My mother has had digestion issues for over thirty years, she now...
  15. Well said, I agree. The Acupuncterist I am seeing says that he tells all his patients, "your health is in your hands". This site has helped me to understand many ways that I can do that responsibly. I don't think I would have understood the connection with dairy or supplements so quickly without it.
  16. Are your soaps, lotions, laundry soap, etc. all gluten free? My understanding is that if it is DH going completely gluten free should clear it up but I am new to this too and perhaps someone who knows more will say something.
  17. Now you will have to be a gluten free pastry chef.
  18. Wow, you have my admiration, what a great spirit you have. I'm sorry you are being hit with all of this just when more than anything you would wish to be well, I hope you heal quickly.
  19. Hi Sheryl, welcome. I think your doctor is a gem. I would give the gluten free diet some time, at least six weeks, and make sure that everything is gluten free, toothpaste, new wooden cutting boards, supplements....it is a learning curve.
  20. I agree with everyone above, try the diet as a diagnostic tool. See for yourself how you feel. I am proceeding with tests to rule out other problems but I went gluten free the day I learned about Celiac and that my sister has it too. That was in early May and I am still not okay but I am doing better. I have also had to cut out dairy and nightshades...
  21. I was told, by an Italian (don't know why that should make a difference though he clearly thought it did), that the combination of coffee and milk is hard on the liver and should be avoided. Have you tried drinking your coffee black? Sorry if I missed you saying whether or not you did. I have had to give up coffee too except for every now and then...
  22. Cecile, since you are the Rachelville sleuth I nominate you. Picard, I had the symptoms you describe and I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. Chelsea, great news about the cooking school. The only question I have is whether or not it is possible for you to skip the baking part altogether? I wonder if they would let you apprentice in a gluten free...
  23. Welcome. I am sure it seems overwhelming but just imagine, your son may not have to grow up with arthritis if his diet is gluten free. The diet does have a steep learning curve but the rewards are so much more than what is lost.
  24. Welcome Moonmaiden. There is much you have said I can relate to, I'm new to this too, and I am proceeding with tests not because I have any confidence that they will diagnose the Celiac but to rule out other possibilities. I know that I cannot tolerate gluten and that is good enough for me. I hope we'll hear more from you, I appreciate a good rant...
  25. While I recognize that there are good reasons for a diagnosis and I would appreciate having a diagnosis I will not do a gluten challenge to find out. My bloodwork was negative but I had not been eating bread and very little gluten prior to the blood test. It was in May that I saw a Gastro and he brought up Celiac, turns out my sister is a Celiac, and...
