  1. I've never tried applying it topically but I suspect you would stink. I've read that garlic is a blood purifier - a natural anti-biotic and anti-viral so it would make sense that it would work on infections. I have taken the garlic oil capsules at the first sign of a boil, probably about 6 capsules a day until it faded away without coming to a head, I...
  2. Oh shucks, y'all just sit yourself down and make yourself welcome. Welcome, glad to see you have the Rachelville spirit.
  3. That is a great tune but what is it? Julie, I sought out carob in desperation once I decided to do a chocolate fast I knew I would have to have some substitutes on hand for the withdrawal. The carob is so naturally sweet I only used a little maple syrup, no sugar for me either. I really wonder what the synergistic effects are of highly processed...
  4. With the Memphis City blues..... I don't know why I think that is a line from a song.
  5. I think it is amazing that we are scattered round the planet and and the same time are all here in Rachelville. We didn't even have a T.V. until I was seven. Karen, I am glad you are feeling a little better. Chelsea, I think what she did stinks and is not at all in the spirit of scouting. My acupuncterist is going away for a week, yikes...
  6. Alabama Girl I've had the same reaction after indulging in store bought gluten free treats. I do much better with home made baking. I have read that the proteins in buckwheat and quinoa and maybe amaranth mimic the proteins in wheat, barley and rye and can cause a reaction. I can't eat buckwheat or quinoa either although I still seem able to tolerate...
  7. The world outside of Rachelville is a scary place. Nikki, I've probably said this too many times but garlic works wonders for boils. The article on micro-waves is worth reading, I know they are quick but if we think about what processed food does to us and then add on being processed again fast again in a micro-wave in a way that changes it......

  9. Donna, there is something about cashew butter also and I just don't remember what, sorry. Micro-wave ovens, I haven't used one after reading somethings about them that caused me to question whether or not they are really safe. Apparently they are banned in Switzerland. I do have some information about them if anyone is interested I can post it. ...
  10. I don't understand this but what jumps out at me is the fact that boils are made up of neutrophils and neutrophils are there to fight infection, what is the infection if someone in every other way appears healthy? In my thirties when I started to get boils I talked to my mother about it and she said that during her thirties she had boils and that my grandmother...
  11. Cecile, I've said it before and I'll say it again, a little blush, a little eye shadow, do wonders for a girl. Cissie, I'm going to make coffee, I've been avoiding it because of my stomach but it does work for headaches sometimes. Rachel, sorry about the car accident, and yes to being totally stressful. Morning everyone.
  12. Good morning Cissie, glad to see you in fine form. I meant to stay up last night but lately I've been up by four or five o'clock a.m. and I'm asleep by ten p.m. I'm sorry to hear some are feeling so badly. I've been avoiding chocolate and bananas and wonder if I am going through histamine withdrawal. Is that even possible? More likely...
  13. Rachel, I agree with you about this thread. It is such a warm and gracious place to be that I feel quite protective of it. Patti, glaze is definitely worth a try, much easier than repainting. Vincent I am glad to here that you are stable for now, please take care of yourself. Hello to everyone. My sister and I went to look at a restaurant...
  14. Painting.... I consider myself the mis-tint Queen as our house is painted with $10.00 gallons of paint, I've had to be patient to get the colors I wanted but then that meant I haven't painted that often. I will also mix my own versions with similar paints. That is the great thing about buying a tacky little house that doing anything at all improves...
  15. That's great, I feel the same way. My bloodwork was negative but I hadn't been eating gluten and I am waiting to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy which I don't think will show the Celiac but I am hoping will rule out other problems. I have known for years I don't digest bread and avoided it but now that I understand about gluten and have gone gluten free...
  16. I think you might find the diet an accurate diagnostic tool if you can follow it exactly. It is a steep learning curve and takes time but given your symptoms it is entirely possible that gluten is causing your problems. I have been trying to find out what is wrong with me for over a year now and am currently waiting for an endoscopy and colonoscopy at...
  17. Welcome Morgan and Swittenauer and no you musn't go back, people get lost. The short synopsis of the thread is Rachel now consumes gallons of icecream.
  18. Me too Karen. You are right, I don't speak French though I took it Grade 5 - 10, I can understand a little.
  19. Je m'appelle Rinne. Je ne parle francais. Just reading along though reading along is developing into a part time job.
  20. I can't believe I'm actually caught up, I have been sitting here laughing out loud at the antics in Rachelville this evening. Poor Rachel, look what you started.
  21. I don't know but I also have a cyst or stone in my right kidney. They found it during an ultra-sound and seemed to think it wasn't a big deal and not related to my digestion issues but then we are talking western medicine here and they don't seem to think diet is related to much either. They also didn't think it was causing me the pain I was feeling.
  22. Andrea, I'm not sure about the soy lecithin but once I'm pulling a Chocolate Dave I'm living on the edge. I do like carob and mint and would love the recipe for the Peanut Butter Cups with Carob. I do have carob powder and it is supposed to be beneficial for me to eat.

    ARCHIVED Yikes!

Yikes is right, what a depressing and misleading piece of writing.
  24. Julie, have you ever taken the tortillas you eat and made your own corn chips? Vincent, thank you for sharing that wonderful story about your son. Andrea, thanks for tracking the wordage. I'm going to cut out chocolate for a month and then make the most delicious chocolate cake with chocolate icing, totally indulge and see what happens. I...
