ARCHIVED Just About Out Of My Noodle.. Help?jukie replied to MissBlueJ05's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Another great resource can be an oriental market if you have one nearby. They usually have great prices on bulk rice and rice-based products including noodles, crackers, wraps, etc.

ARCHIVED Hysterosalpingography, Not Exactly A celiac disease Issue But Has Anyone Had One?jukie replied to klaya's topic in Related Issues & Disorders I also had an HSG several years ago after having multiple miscarriages. The only medication I took was either Tylenol or Advil (can't remember which) before the procedure, but I've heard from others who were offered valium as well. Though I experienced discomfort, cramping, and lots of "pressure" (more than a period, but tolerable), I was lucky in that...

ARCHIVED Makeup And Walgreens And Jane Cosmeticsjukie replied to Deanne's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I can vouch for one of the companies on your list -- Everyday Minerals is awesome! I started using Everyday Minerals after desperately trying to find makeup without gluten OR soy. They were very responsive and confirmed that all their products were "clean" -- and it's pretty easy to check their labels as they have so few ingredients! They also made...

Anyway, waiting for test results is never fun, but whatever they say, don't forget to take into account what your body has already told you. Let us know...

Sorry, Autumn...that is sooo frustrating!!! Wish I had more to offer, but you are well ahead of me in figuring these things out...and it sounds like you are doing a great job of working through your intolerances. I hope things continue to get better for you...HANG IN THERE!

ARCHIVED My Gluten Free Weight Loss Story- 80 Lbs Downjukie replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders Hi, Autumn! Thanks for sharing your story...it's so inspiring to hear from others who've struggled with weight and found success after going gluten free. Weight has been a lifelong struggle for me...usually trying to keep it off, though occasionally underweight as well. But it wasn't until my DS was born five years ago that the weight gain became uncontrollable...

I can't speak for everyone, but my biggest cravings turned out to be for the foods to which I'm intolerant (breads, cookies, and cheese to name a few), and my appetite for them (and pretty much everything else) was insatiable. Frankly, I could have never imagined life without these things, let alone having the willpower to resist them. My transition started...

ARCHIVED Not Sure Where I Belong?jukie replied to Rook's Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Welcome, Addie...what an awesome mom you are! My 5 y.o. son had a very difficult infancy that, in restrospect, was likely related his/my food intolerances. Although I was able to identify and eliminate some of the things in my diet that he was reacting to while breastfeeding (which included dairy and eggs), we didn't discover that we were also gluten intolerant...

ARCHIVED A Question For Those Who Use Guar Gum In Replacement Of Xantham Gum....jukie replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips Sorry for jumping in late, but I may be looking to replace xanthan gum as well. So is it not recommended to use guar gum with bean flours or can the "rubberyness" be resolved by reducing the amount??? This gluten-free baking thing can be so confusing, but is sooo worth it when it works!

ARCHIVED Response From Namaste Foods On Xanthanjukie replied to chgomom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Hmmm...I've also reacted after eating Namaste brownies but couldn't figure out what had gotten me. And I reacted to some cookies I made last weekend...could it have been the Bob's Red Mill xanthan gum? I so hope this is not the problem, but if so, does anyone know of a gluten-free, soy-free source of xanthan gum??? I was planning on doing some baking...

I've been gluten, casein, soy, and egg free for about 5 months now, and was gluten "lite" for a few months before that. Identifying all the potential sources of intolerance and cross contamination is definitely frustrating, especially during the "rollercoaster" phase of healing. My biggest challenge right now is identifying hidden sources of soy as that...

Autumn, have you noticed ANY improvements yet? I'm been in pain so long, I have no expectations about when it will be resolved, but I celebrate every little improvement no matter how small. One of my most amazing days so far was while walking down the stairs at home as that is usually a very slow and painful process. I was halfway down the stairs...

ARCHIVED The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted...jukie replied to mamatide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips Okay, I was taking a break from the great gluten-free bread baking project this week as I've been getting a little frustrated with all the flops...but you've inspired me to try again. I even found garfava flour while doing my regular grocery shopping at Kroger, so maybe that's a good sign Of course it's just dawned on me that I'm missing cornstarch,...

ARCHIVED Anything Relieve Bloating And Pain?jukie replied to wacky~jackie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease DH deals with potential CC issues everytime he's on business travel.
