Against The Grain

A couple of weeks ago I bought an Against the Grain frozen pizza. It was SO good! Today I had some Against the Grain baguette. Again, totally delicious and TOTALLY grain-free.

 

I know a lot of you have trouble with corn like I do. Their facility is grain-free. No corn, no soy, nothing that can harm us, unless you have trouble with dairy or eggs. They even have a few dairy-free items. Most of their stuff is tapioca starch, cheese, eggs and milk. How they make BREAD with those ingredients I just don't know, but it really does taste good and it's SO nice to be able to eat without worrying about CC.

 

The store locator on their website is not up to date. I emailed them about it and they said they would be updating soon. But I believe you can order online. If you're like me and can't eat most breads because they have corn starch, you've got to try this stuff! :wub:

Whole Foods sells both Against the Grain pizza and baguettes. They ARE delicious! I buy the rosemary baguettes- they are so tasty, even before heating.

I like the baguettes a lot! They have a lot of holes to sop up soup or cheese fondue. My one son like the Schars baguettes better but those might have stuff Barty doesn't want.

I have almost bought the baguettes like a bazillion times. Well, maybe it only feels like a bazillion times. I'm going to a store tonight that I know sells them to get chocolate for ice cream. It may take some arm twisting but if I compromise and spend less than say... $7 on my chocolate I may be able to talk a baguette into the cart. :D I almost said spend less than $5 on my chocolate, but I'm trying to be reasonable!

I LOVE Against the Grain!!!  I'm going to have to make a road trip to get some soon!   

 

The first time I ate their pizza, I e mailed them and told them it was so good I wanted to slap my momma.  Then I explained that was high praise in the south.  (They're based in Vermont.)   I received a really nice response that the owner was from Georgia, he grew up with that phrase.  I've never corresponded with a food manufacturer outside of that instance.

 

Nobody carries ATG locally, despite my requests.

      British Coeliacs: Marks and Spencer's have launched a Gluten Free Colin the Caterpillar Cake.

      Brilliant news for British Coeliacs! Colin was launched in 1990 so I am fortunate in that I was able to try this amazing chocolate swissroll cake before my diagnosis.       Very helpful @knitty kitty. Thank you. I am trying to remember what vitamin so alarmed my GP and I have a feeling it was A or E. I remember reading the pills contained well over the 100 per cent RDA of whatever the vitamin was. One thing I'd love to ask you that has always intrigued me. One day when my anxiety was completely through the roof...

      @trents Good question. We are strict at home, although I have to admit I've eating the odd chocolate at Christmas that turned out to have been made in a shared facility. But that is very unusual for me, and I had my last blood test before Christmas anyway. Therefore I have concluded that eating out must be the issue. But I'll let you know in September...

      Persistent isolated high DGP-IGG in child despite gluten-free diet

      Thanks very much for taking the time to write this. I have been pretty worried so appreciate reading any advice. Yes, the endoscopy will include a biopsy, and we have hopefully found a good pediatric gastro to guide us through it all. Will also run the HLA typing - I have the swabs ready to go.

One thing I'd love to ask you that has always intrigued me.  One day when my anxiety was completely through the roof.  I 'felt the fear and did it anyway' - a phrase other anxiety sufferers may be aware of, which I found a powerful tool in my recovery -  and visited a friend's house, even though I felt so wretched.  For some reason I craved milk and drank two whole pints of milk in quick succession while I was with her - to this day I can't think why, because I don't usually drink milk 'neat' - I like it in tea or coffee, or hot chocolate.  But I distinctly remember within a couple of hours feeling absolutely fine again for quite a while.  I've often wondered was it down to this milk, which I've since understood contains quite decent levels of B12.  Would that have really worked so fast?

      @trents  Good question.  We are strict at home, although I have to admit I've eating the odd chocolate at Christmas that turned out to have been made in a shared facility.  But that  is very unusual for me, and I had my last blood test before Christmas anyway.  Therefore I have concluded that eating out must be the issue.  But I'll let you know in September when I have my next blood tests done.  😊
