How Long Does Dizziness Last If It's Cc?

I've seen my doctor for my dizziness that comes and goes and I've had all the tests. So right now we think it's either anxiety symptoms, or CC from gluten. I just don't know right now because I have stress that I'm dealing with (classes start tomorrow) but I've been so careful fixing my food and I've been sticking to only foods that are made to be gluten-free (not mainstream grocery store foods).

Anyway, the question is, how long does the dizziness last if I am getting glutened?

Whoa, I just saw your message about the Dizziness. I never equated dizziness with Celiac disease, but I am newly diagnosed so am still learning a lot about this.

However for months I have had off and on unexplained dizziness too. Some days its worse than others. I thought it was just due to old age, but perhaps not.

I sure would like to learn more about this. And pardon me for being old fashioned but what do you mean by "CC"? Is that short for Celiac something or other?

Thanks

It's Cross- Contamination. I think people use it a lot on the site.

I'm only 19 with it, so I don't think mine is old age, although I do feel a lot older than my friends out here at college....not able to eat pizza and fast food and all.

Hope your dizziness is better!

My dizzyness from cross contamination (CC) or glutening myself usually lasts about a week. I will have it every time I stand up in the beginning and as the week progresses it gets less and less. It drove me nuts in the beginning. I thought I was having inner ear problems or like you was just getting old. But after I read about it on this web site I started noticing it came for me with an itch as well. Then the pain in my joints and muscles would get worse and I started looking to see what I had done wrong and found I was glutening myself.

:o I'm so glad that I stumbled across this post!! I've had this problem for a long time and it's been driving me nuts. I didn't and think about connecting it to my Celiac. I guess I must be getting glutened somehow and I will have to figure out how. Thanks guys! :)

When I get CC my first reaction is vertigo. I have had vertigo for over 12 years. It has nearly disappeared gluten-free (and grain free). But if I get some, I get the vertigo. For me it only lasts a couple of days followed by a migraine. Thankfully it has only happened twice in the past 5+ months. Before gluten-free I would have migraines 2 times a month or more.

So this is a MAJOR improvement for me. :)

Hang on.....it gets better.

I have what I Think is something called sycope happening now. I just start to fall over in my chair and then snap back aware. I haven't figured out any certain relation to dizzynesss and glutening time frames. Could be you have an inner ear thing going on also. Allergies can do that and make a person dizzy.

Yeah, I couldn't stand up straight all last week, definitely an inner ear thing for me, I was NOT Cc'd. You might look into getting adjusted by a chiropractor, that always fixes my problem.

Me too! Whenever I get CC I get really dizzy, tired, and start losing feeling in my hands and feet. Then I get a migraine, etc....

I've learned to push through the symptoms (if it's only trace amounts of CC), but I still feel awful for days after.

I had accidental glutening 2 nights in a row (my bad) and yesterday when I was on my walk, I literally had to grab onto the closest street sign until my head straightened back out....

Oh sure! That's a celiac thing. I get dizzyness, loss of balance, ringing in the ears, extreme irritability, disorentation, numbness and neuropathry in the extremities, and bone and joint pain all accompanied by extreme sleepiness and exhaustion. But you can't lay down cause it makes it worse. AAAUUGGHH!!!

My reations always get better in sequence. First I feel better mentally ( less sort of creeped out feeling or basic anxiety) then I know the dizzyness and and balance problem goes. Numbness next, but the joint pain lasts longer. Usually 24 hours or so, but the disorentation ( I call it the Jessica Simpson complex) and ringing in the head can go on for days with any food at all stirring things up and I have to be really careful eating too much at a time.

I'm losing too much weight and worry about being malnourished. I take good vitamins and calcium too because after a bad reaction I have to eat nearly nothing for a few days so as not to "stir things up again" I've been told that when this kind of thing happens some Celiacs take laxative to clear out whatever caused the darned crap in the first place cause it can take a few days to natually void it out. I haven't tried that yet. It seems so drastic! But I almost did that this weekend. My reaction ruined my weekend totally. I'm going to ask my doc about the laxative thing to make sure it's OK occasionally before I do that.

For my Vit D3 deficiency it was recommended to take with Vit K2 (MK7) with the Vit D. The Vit K2 helps absorption of Vit D3. Fat also helps with absorption. I take Micro Ingredients Vit D3 5000 IU with Vit K2 100 micrograms (as menaquinone:MK-7). Comes in soft gels with coconut oil.  Gluten free but not certified gluten free. Soy free, GMO free.

@Known1, I submitted the following comment along with my contact information: "I have noticed that many food companies voluntarily include information in their ingredient/allergen label section when the product is made in an environment where cross contamination with any of the nine major allergens recognized by the FDA may also be likely. Even though celiac disease and gluten sensitivity are, technically speaking, not allergic responses, it would seem, nonetheless, appropriate to include "gluten" in that list for the present purpose. That would insure that food companies would be consistent with including this information in labeling. Best estimates are that 1% of the general population, many undiagnosed of course, have celiac disease and more than that are gluten sensitive."

Celiac Disease causes more vitamin D deficiency than the general population because of limited UV sunlight in the winter and the little available from food is not absorbed well in the damaged small intestine.  Taking 10,000 IU a day (250 mcg) a day broke my depression. Taking it for eleven years.  Doctor recently said to not stop.  My 25(OH)D is around 200 nmol/L (80 ng/ml) but it took about six years to get there.  Increasing vitamin D also increases absorption of Calcium. A good start is 100-gram (3.5-ounce) serving of salmon,  vitamin D from 7.5 to 25 mcg (300 to 1,000 IU) but it is going to take additional vitamin D supplement to be effective.  More importantly salmon has an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio 1:10 anti-inflammatory compared to the 15:1 infammatory ratio of the typical Western diet. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.  I respectfully disagree.  You cherry picked a small section from the page.  I will do the same below: The agency is seeking information on adverse reactions due to “ingredients of interest” (i.e., non-wheat gluten containing grains (GCGs) which are rye and barley, and oats due to cross-contact with GCGs) and on labeling issues or concerns with identifying these “ingredients of interest” on packaged food products in the U.S. “People with celiac disease or gluten sensitives have had to tiptoe around food, and are often forced to guess about their food options,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H. “We encourage all stakeholders to share their experiences and data to help us develop policies that will better protect Americans and support healthy food choices.” --- end quote Anyone with celiac disease is clearly a stakeholder.  The FDA is encouraging us to share our experiences along with any data to help develop future "policies that will better protect Americans and support healthy food choices".  I see this as our chance to speak up or forever hold our peace.  Like those that do not participate in elections, they are not allowed to complain.  The way I see it, if we do not participate in this request for public comment/feedback, then we should also not complain when we get ill from something labeled gluten-free. Have a blessed day ahead, Known1
