Advice Needed For Weight Gain With Diet Restrictions

I am a 27 year old male, 120lbs. I have struggled my entire life with stomach problems and as a result, inability to put on weight.

After years and years of doctors, specialists, tests, etc, having been diagnosed with various stomach diseases and many times doctors not having a clue what is wrong, I eventually found a naturalist that pointed out the root of my problems have been in my diet.

I started cutting out the things that cause issues for my stomach and within about 3 weeks all the symptoms I battled with my whole life completely disappeared. It is now about 6 months later and I have experimented with certain foods - so I now know exactly what I can and can't tolerate.

So now that my body has healed, I would like to start working on gaining weight seriously. I am committed and serious about starting weight training as well. My trouble is that my diet restrictions are crazy so I need some advice in terms of (1) what weight gaining supplements I can use safely, and (2) foods that will be good for weight gain.

I can't have any of the following:

- Wheat, wheat products, and gluten
- Dairy (not only because of lactose - I can't tolerate any dairy products, not 100% certain why)
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Fruit (the only fruit I can tolerate is bananas)
- Raw vegetables (cooked vegetables are ok)

I am fine with any type of meat, and rice has become my best friend.

My weight goal is 150lbs. I know it sounds like gaining 30lbs isn't a big deal, but I have weighed 120lbs for the past 10 years, to give you an idea.

If you have any suggestions for supplements and foods I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Lean protein (eg turkey, chicken, fish, bison), brown rice and cooked vegetables are going to be staples for any body builder (forgot to add that you need to have healthy fats in your diet too, so avacado, olive oil, flaxseed, coconut oil, NUTS/nutbutter). I would try to eat 6-8 small meals throughout the day. Carnivor shots are made from meat and have 50 g of protein per shot. I don't know if it is gluten free though. You should contact the manufacturer to find out. There are some vegan gluten-free protein powders out there on the market that you should be able to use as well, but they usually don't have as much protein as a whey powder would. Hemp protein, pea protein may be good options for you.  In order to put on size you have to not only be absorbing the nutrients you take in but you also need to be in a caloric surplus. You need to calculate your TDEE+ ~10% to gain/bulk.

Thanks for sharing that site! Do you know if that site has any information about manufacturing/possible cross contact on it? I can't find it. When I have called manufacturers, most of them say they can't guarantee no cross contact in manufacturing (except Lannett, Mylan and possible Amneal, which aren't available near me).

Hi everyone, I have celiac disease and I’m asymptomatic, which makes things more stressful because I don’t know when I’ve been glutened. That’s why I try to be really careful with cross-contamination. For almost a year, I’ve been having yellow/orange floating stools consistently. I’m not sure if it’s related to gluten exposure or something else going on. I’ve been trying to identify any possible mistakes in my routine. Today, I made myself some gluten-free bread with cheese. Normally, I’m very careful: I use one hand to handle the cheese packaging (which could be contaminated, since it’s from the supermarket and was probably sitting on a checkout belt that had flour residue)...

So eight days in a row of gluten on top of gluten on top of gluten, I just had to resort to the EpiPen. I wish I could post a picture because you wouldn’t believe how enormous my gut is! It makes my head look like a pinhead.Ahhhgggsahhhhh!!!! I have discovered that I have to read the ingredients when I use a product up that I’ve been able to use without getting a reaction, because they can change the ingredients and bam my toothpaste now has gluten!!! my doctor told me gluten free means it has 20 ppm which someone with a severe a celiac as I’ve got that thing there kills me. I try to find certified gluten-free in everything. I can’t eat any oats unless it’s Bob’s red mill...

I have been using a little bit of Lubriderm when I wash my hands because it’s the lotion offered at a place I frequent once a week. Assuming it was gluten-free I bought a bottle. I couldn’t figure out why I was getting gluten EVERY night. I use a little of the lotion in the morning on my neck, with no reaction, but at night, I use it on my arms and legs and face and get gluten gut pretty bad. After eight nights of having to have diphenhydramine injections for severe gluten, I googled “is Lubriderm gluten-free” and it led me to this forum. I am going to go back to olive oil as I have been gut sick sooooooo bad with a huge gut and pain eight days in a row now. Sick of feeling sick.
