Plastic Blender Cc - Help!

I have a plastic blender at my boyfriend's place. It's one of those personal blenders that can be used as a mug when you turn it right side up. Well, my boyfriend has a guest over who came in after a wedding last night (beer I'm sure was in the equation). I woke up this morning and found that he had used my blender as a cup for water. I don't know if he had brushed his teeth before using my blender mug. I instantly started washing it. There are ridges near the top where you screw on the blender base, and unfortunately that's where his mouth would have touched. I'm letting it soak in soap and will wash it again. I'm sure he won't remember if he brushed his teeth before/after using it.

Can I save it because I never heated the plastic with gluten in it? Or do I have to buy a new one?

I think the risk would be rather low if it was just used for water.  Use a toothbrush after it soaks to clean the ridges.  It really should be fine.  Of course, if it is really giving you doubts and anxiety, get a new one for the peace of mind.

I would wash it and use it. We wash ours in the dishwasher. My kids eat gluten and make shakes. Maybe if my kids put Oreos or made gluten bread crumbs in it... But I would probably just wash it even then

Thanks. You two are wonderful! I was not the happiest camper when I saw that and thought I'd have to buy a new one. We have to replace enough kitchen gadgets as it is!

I don't blame you! I'd be super peeved if someone did that to my blender!

I would throw it through the dishwasher or wash in Hot water and soap.  You should be just fine.  It is more about the scratched old plastic containers that had gluten food in them that we would really have to worry about.

      If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

      You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.

      Hi, Yes, the rash has gone. I still get the itches but there is nothing to see now, apart from a lot of discoloured areas where the rash was worst. Occasionally I get a single lump come up, a bit like hives, but no bigger than a pea and it goes after 24hrs and a steroid cream application. And yes, giving the gluten-free diet 110%. Very careful...

      Our support groups in Iowa have tried for years to educate doctors and resource sites like this one.  We have held yearly conferences with continued education classes.   We have brought in Dr. Murray, Dr. Fasano, Dr. Green and Dr. elliott.  In those many years we may have had 2 doctors attend.  We sent them information, with no response.  I talked to my personal doctor and she said their training for Celiac was to show them a skinny man in boxer shorts and a huge stomach.  Saying if you see this, it is Celiac.  If it isn't in their playbook then they don't care.  Most call it an allergy with no mention of our immune system.  There is so much false information on the internet.  Then people don't understand why they can't get well and are acquiring more immune diseases. I mention this site to everyone.  Scott has working hard for the Celiac community.
