Solved Food Intolerance By Treating Parasitic Infection?

So, long sory short.  Been sick for 5 years.  Most days, disabilitatingly sick.  Developed Gluten intolerance this past year.  Developed nightshade vegetable intolerance shortly after the Gluten diagnosis.  That's where, luckily for me, the food reactions seemed to have stopped.

Something else was wrong though.  Seeping blemishes around sinus area above my eyebrows, around my eyes and into my cheek bones.  Overnight swelling around the eyes and an itching/crawling type sensation after washing or applying topographicals.  Visible white thread like cores in the blemishes below infected skin surface.

Recent findings.  All my pain and suffering could be attributed to a 5 year undetected parasitic worm infestation that had plenty of time to work it's way through to coming out around the sinuses.

A year ago a homeopathic practitioner had me pegged for leaky gut, turned food intolerance, turned mystery skin infection.

Today thankfully with the consult of a solid Oriental Nutritional Therapist, a myriad of herbal supplememnts and vitamins, and a diet void of gluten and nightshades, my digestive system has improved tremendously.  Internally I feel more solid than I have since I can remember alghough the parasitic factor was just revealed due to dealing with the residual skin issues.

Just recently added to my daily homeopathic regiment, Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (has received some astounding health benefits credited to it's human consumption recently), Hipep, and Echanecea Premium backed by vitamins A B100 C D E and K .

Natural Lavender soap washes backed by lavender essentiall oil for overnight topigraphical, followed by Virgin Coconut Oil topographical during the day.  Swelling is gone.  Seeping is gone.  Little white thread like specs around the sinuses are working out of the infected areas.

Similar experience?  Due to the latestest findings I am under the understanding that parasitic infection can cause sudden food intolerances.  After the parasite issue is dealth with and solved how has the food intolerance worked out for you?

I am excited to have hope that all this could be over soon and life back to normal before my health took a turn for the worse.

All the best, DJT

I am not a doctor, but I have never heard of pin worms living outside of the intestinal tract. They are very common in small children. They have to be ingested (usually playing in dirt) and the worms come out of the rectum to lay eggs, kids scratch, put their fingers in their mouths and they re-infect themselves. It is so common that there is an over the counter treatment.

Does your medical doctor concur?

I am with Cycles - I remember this post said "pin worms" originally?

Anyway, glad you feel better.  However, there is no scientific evidence any of this will cure Celiac Disease or that parasites are the cause of most Celiac or NCGI.

GF Lover Rising Star

Are you seeing an actual Medical Doctor for the "pin worm infestation"?

Are you diagnosed Celiac?  There is no valid testing for 'gluten intolerance'.  It's not like testing for allergies.  Celiac and NCGI are diagnosed by a Medical Doctor.  I am just wondering if you would be better served seeing a Medical Doctor? instead of alternative practicioners?

I am glad that your health is improving! I read on your profile that you surf. You can certainly pickup a lot of nasty things in the water and parasites are difficult to identify and treat.

Were you ever tested for celiac disease? I realize that you have been given the run around by traditional medical staff, but they do some things well. I would hate for you to blame a parasite instead of really finding the root cause of your problems (and that might just be celiac disease). After months of being gluten free, you have probably determined that a gluten challenge is simply not worth it. My husband went gluten free 14 years ago based on poor advice from his GP and my allergist. They were on to something though. We know that gluten is an issue for him. Since my diagnosis, we found that it has been very beneficial to have a firm diagnosis. I hope that your other intolerances (e.g. nightshades) continue to improve.

Sorry for the delay in reply to all of the above. I am going to not try to offend although the proof is in my skin and at this point coming out of my facial skin and around my anus.

The cause of it is unknown although at this point not a concern I just want it dead and gone.

I have a massive pin worm aka thread worm infestation from head to toe that has had 5 years to wreck my body inside and out.

I gave several doctors a crack at it over a 4 year timespan with zero progress and zero anwers or battle plans.  They kept on telling me "well according to our blood tests you are in exceptional health."  One look at me would tell anyone otherwise.

My current doctor, after listening to my personal experience, my personal findings, my reactions to gluten, my reactions to nightshades, turned to me and told me "everything you just said, makes no sense".  She said that in her opinion she would recommend that I accept a referal for psychological counseling and a dermatalogist.

Recently I was introduced to a holistic practioner here in the San Diego area.  He immediately had me pegged for leaky gut.  Was put on a strict diet and given a strong digestive cleanse regiment of 3 different herbal compounds.  Within two weeks, the source of all my suffering is showing it's ugly head through my facial skin and my rectum.  Little black thread worms & little white pin worms.

Yes I do surf and yes I used to consume sushi on a regular basis.  Sushi maybe a thing of my past at this point although my love for surfing will get me back in the water.

One things for sure I will deal with Western medical doctors in the future when I am physically broke ie accidents or trauma although from now on I will rely upon my Oriental Nutritional Therapist whom listens to me, whom speaks to me in a non condecending manner, whom has the true want, the true desire to return me to my peak performance health so I can end this 5 year struggle that had me almost throwing in the towel by being sick and tired of being sick and tired and wondering what the hell is wrong with me.

Sorry no offense to Western Medical Practioners and or Pharmasuticals but due to my personal experience of not being taken seriously being told that more or less I was delusional, and even insinuations of being some drug addict that sat around picking at his skin in some drug hazed delusion of bugs.

Sorry but I live a drug free life, I eat organic, I consume free range, cage free, gmo free, gluten free, and not by choice but by severe facial swelling afte consumption, nightshade free.

I appreciate and for a small part respect everyones input and opinions but I have have had alike many of you here on Celiacs lived through a hell for 5 years of not knowing what the hell was wrong and no answers or options given via Western Medical doctors.

All the best and here's to our health

I know what your saying, I was sick for a while before I had to fib to my Dr. To get him to do a Celiac panel. I was missed Dx'd with a rash they called Lichen Planus , it turned out after a couple years it was lack of Folic Acid. I say stick to who you trust. If you trust this person stick with them. I now trust my Dr. He knows now, when I go in with a problem I am not just a lonely house wife looking for a problem. I have a problem and I want a healthy remedy for it. Good luck! I hope you continue healing.

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  This is the sort of reply I was waiting for and I wish you all the best!  There are other, healthier alternatives out there available through holistic practitioners and simple natural herbal compounds, extracts, and supplements.

As for me, this is the new day I have been waiting 5 years for! My health continues to improve! My meeting with my Oriental Nutritional Therapist yesterday was all good to say the least!

.

I've got my strength back. I've got my energy back. I've got my healthy skin coloring back. I've got my clarity of mind back. I got some major diet restrictions lifted. I can now consume nightshade vegetables! Major since tomatoes and peppers (a main staple in all my fave cuisines Thai, Mexican, Creole) potatoes, eggplants are of the nightshades.

I celebrated by getting take out from my fave Mex place here in San Diego, Lucha Libre. 2 Large surf and turf tacos with ancho chili sauce topped with 2 different salsas and 2 different hot sauces, along with a side of pickled jalapenos & carrots. Man that was heaven.

Even better, I woke up this morning without the typical morning after consuming nightshade facial swelling. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The only dietary restrictions I have left are Gluten, heavy use of dairy, and a small amount of insignificant fruits high in magnesium & zinc! All of which I can take or leave for the sake of optimum health

.

All credit to my ONT James Darcy O'Sullivan, the herbal compounds and supplements that he has given to me, and my own research and self evaluation, to figure out what the hell was wrong with me.

If I was still under a W. Med practitioner's care alike the first 4.5 out of 5 years of this hell, without question I would still be waking up feeling sick on a daily basis and having god knows how many toxic pharmaceuticals crammed down my throat!

Today I know for a fact that my 5 year hell is coming to an end with 100% confidence

Today I can dream again and not lay down like I almost did and accept things as this is the way it's going to be and I'll just have to deal with it.

All the best and here's to our health!

For those of whom are still in doubt of what I am claiming due to my own personal experience, do me a favor and it might be very beneficial to you and your friends, family, aquaintances, whomever matters in your life that might be dealing with similar issues or hell any persistent health issues

1.  Do a simple search online.  Type in Parasitic Infection Food Intolerance.

2.  Ask whomever you rely upon to keep you in optimum peak health about the possibility

3.  If they can not help you and you continue to feel ill even though you're tending to your doctor appointments and taking all your toxic meds with no turn for betterment, seek out the alternative.  There is an alternative!

Lucky for me I was introduced to  my ONT by a girlfriend whom works for a non profiit group whom raises funding for holistic reasearch that is solely practioner funded.  He is a liscensed accupuncturist and certified in several new holistic healing techniques including and based upon Nuero Emotional Technique and Applied Kinesiology

If you're still in doubt beyond this and have felt like crap for years even though you stick to your dietary restrictions religeously, and keep following up with your doctors appointments, well I feel for you.  I really do.  I would wish my experience prior to healing upon no one.  I was pretty much giving up on life, no one except for my immediate family supported and cared for me or about me.  Today, I have a new spark in my life and I feel like I can dream and strive for my optimum health.

Happy for you, but what exactly was the diagnosis that your ONT was treating you for? It sounds like celiac disease was ruled out?

Hopefully the biopsy gives a conclusive and correct diagnosis for your daughter. Im in the UK and have been in the situation a few years ago of trying to rule celiac in or out after inconclusive results. Many symptoms pointing to it including the classic symptoms and weight loss and folate and iron deficiency. You have to play a waiting game. I also had the label of IBS and likely food allergy. Genetic test showed low risk for celiac but not no risk. It sounds like the Gastroenterologist is on it and hopefully will diagnose what it is correctly. Food hypersensitivity (allergy) can also cause similar symptoms and inflammation as well as mimicking IBS. Milk / dairy and wheat (cereal grains) being the biggest culprits. The “oesophagitis” and “gastritis” you mentioned can be caused by another gastrointestinal disorder called “eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders”. These are named depending on which part of the gastrointestinal tract is affected. For example eosinophilic oesophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, and more rare eosinophilic colitis. They are antigen (allergen) driven. When the blood test measuring anti-ttg antibodies is positive in absence of a positive ema test - which is more specific to celiac, this can also suggest food hypersensitivity (allergy). Usually delayed type allergy similar to celiac but not autoimmune if that makes sense. In this case the ttg antibodies are transient. Which happens. I’ve first hand experience. For info, evidence of villous atrophy too can be caused by food hypersensitivity. Not just by celiac disease. In Egid disorders the six food elimination diet, under a dietitian and gastroenterologist care, is the dietary protocol to figure out the culprit or culprits. Sometimes only two food elimination diet is used at first. The number one culprit is milk protein / dairy. Followed by wheat, eggs, soy, fish and seafood, and nuts. Most are only reactive to one food group or two. Most are only reactive to milk. Hope this is a helpful reply.

Wow, the system is crazy isn’t it? Maybe switch Doctors if you can. It’s surprising from what you’ve written it seems obvious it’s celiac disease. The “potential” diagnosis means celiac is developing and it basically just hasn’t done enough gut damage to be captured on the biopsy yet, and meet that “criteria” to satisfy the current system! Given the overwhelming evidence already - family history, positive ttg and ema. And your own experience and intuition which counts far more. And the labs being reproduced after gluten elimination and reintroduction- elimination and reintroduction diet is the gold standard too. Shame on the Doc and the system. What was the Marsh score? I’m guessing not 0 if it’s potential celiac. Meaning the autoimmune process has been triggered and started. Your daughter is obviously very healthy and her immune system is putting up a good fight. It can take years for the gut damage to build to a point where there’s overt symptoms and then a conclusive diagnosis, hence why many celiacs receive diagnosis later in life. You can prevent it. See the positive and the gift in that. Hopefully the gluten challenge confirms it, but if it doesn’t maybe get a second opinion?

@Gigi2025  Thank you for your interesting post.  Some of what you say chimes with something my gastroenterologist tells me - that he has clients who travel to France and find the same as you  - they will eat normal wheat baguette there without issue, for example.  His theory was he thought it might be to do with the locally sourced wheat being different to our own in the UK? But I have to say my own experience has been quite different. I have been to France twice since my diagnosis, and have been quite ill due to what was then (pre-2019)  poor labelling and cross-contamination issues.  My TTG test following my last visit was elevated - 'proof of the pudding', as we say in the UK!  It was not just a case of eating something like, say, shellfish, that disagreed with me - gluten was clearly an issue. I've also been to Italy to visit family a couple of times since my diagnosis.  I did not want to take any chances so kept to my gluten free diet, but whilst there what I did notice is that coeliacs are very well catered for in Italy, and many brands with the same ingredients in the UK are clearly marked on the front of their packaging that they are 'senza glutine'.  In the UK, you would have to find that information in the small print - or it puts people off buying it, so I am told!  So it seems to me the Italians are very coeliac aware - in fact, all children are, I believe, screened for coeliac disease at the age of 6.  That must mean, I guess, that many Italian coeliacs are actively avoiding gluten because, presumably, if they don't, they will fall ill?

Thank you both very much. I’m pretty familiar with the various tests, and my older two girls with official dxs have even participated in research on other tests as well. I just felt overwhelmed and shocked that these recent results (which I found pretty dang conclusive after having scott clean labs just six months ago) would still be considered inconclusive. Doc said we could biopsy in another six weeks because my daughter was actually way more upset than I anticipated about the idea of eating it for years before doing another biopsy. It doesn’t hurt her, but she’s afraid of how it may be hurting her in ways she can’t feel. She’s currently eating mini wheats for breakfast, a sandwich with lunch, and a side of pasta along with every dinner, so I’m hoping we’re meeting that 10g benchmark mentioned in that second article!
