Why Oh Why?

I told you all about my success with the gin-soaked raisins. And I told you all about the terrible psoriasis flare I've been dealing with. Well I just figured it out.

The golden raisins are treated with sulfites. Sulfites can cause psoriasis flares. It makes sense because even though the P started flaring after a gluten CC, it never went away. I started the raisins right about that time.

So now it looks like I have a choice. Either live with crippling arthritis in my wrists and fingers, or live with crippling psoriasis on my hands and feet.

I just can't win. :angry::( :(

Can you dehydrate your own raisins? does anyone make them without the extra sulphites?

You might have to order them because you live in the middle of no Whole Foods!

The problem is the sulfites are what makes them work. A FEW people have said the dark raisins work so I guess I'll try that. I just mixed up a batch or the golden ones last night so I think what I'll do is wait. Stop eating the raisins and hope the P goes away and the arthritis pain doesn't come back. If it does, I guess I'll buy another jug of gin and try it with dark (no sulfite) raisins. I can always give the new batch I mixed last night to a friend.

Ohhhhhhh Barty! {{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Darned if you do & darned if you don't. What a fix to be in. I got all excited at Karen's idea of dehydrating the golden raisins yourself.

Okay, so you'll experiment. If even the dark raisins fail then you owe it to yourself to try dehydrating the golden raisins before you give up the trials. Maybe either the dark or light will help to some degree. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed & sending the positive thoughts & prayers your way.

So sorry to hear that Barty.

Can you start looking into more homeopathic remedies?  Any research on medical marijuana?, such as the oil that can have the chemical compound removed that causes the "high" ?

I know someone using it for the joint pain from cancer treatment.  It seems to be working well for the joint pain and with chemo therapy the tumors have been shrinking.  Just an idea to discuss with your doctor.

Other studies suggest apple cider vinegar and cherries.  The amount of cherry juice would be about 45 cherries a day and I'm not sure if any tablet form shows the same preliminary results.

Oh geez.  :(  I hope some of the other suggestions work for you. I'd hate for you to have to abandon something that was working..

(hugs)

      This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

      BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

      Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
