OMG. Let me know what you think.

 

Just went to a nutritionist who put me on a new diet to help lower my cholesterol.

 

Diet is already gluten free, but she added chia seeds, cod liver oil, coconut oil and bone broth.

 

I have subsequently been in the bathroom all weekend with D.

 

Is that likely from the diet?

Did you eat all those things before? You might have an intolerance or you introduced too much oil, too fast, into your system. Are the chia seeds certified gluten-free?

Yep - all is gluten free...I think it's too much too fast :) ....

Coconut oil/Cod liver oil and the seeds would put many in the bathroom all weekend depending on amounts. I would not jump to an intolerance.  I would think too much too fast. Also, I would be concerned with the nutritionist who suggested all those things with no warning of the GI issues that may happen with there introduction of all that!

Hi,

I have never tried cod liver oil that I can remember but at some point I think I was cooking with Chia seeds, coconut oil and beef broth and I do not remember having any problems. But, it is very possible that mixing all of this is not helping you. Maybe try rotating these. One day broth and coconut oil, other cod liver oil, etc. Good luck! You will figure it out.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
