Claire--Your trail mix sounds wonderful! I'm going to get my favorite nuts and fruits and make some this weekend. It'll be good to have all made up, waiting in the fridge :)

I do not refrigerate mine though there is no reaason not to. I have a large wide mouth antique jar that sits on the open shelf of a hutch in the kitchen. It last me about a month. There is nothing in the mix that is likely to spoil in that time. All the contents are unrefrigerated when I buy them.

As gifts, I pack jars or tins - these are so popular! As I said, I get hints early on.

There is no recipe as such. I used to start with a commercial packaged mix (from the health store) and then added 1/4 to 1/2 cup of each dried fruit (per pkg). (I stopped buying the mix when there got to be more sunflower seeds than anything else and the price remained the same) I use less of pumpkin seeds. For the chocoholics I add some chocolate chips. I also have used butterscotch chips. These can be found gluten-free if doing it for yourself. If you make it all the time as I do, you can shop around for the best price on the ingredients. I just found a place online where the price of dried cranberries is very fair. Also I have a dehydrator and I live where there are peaches and strawberries in season - apricots also some years. The online source of the cranberries also sells cherries, blueberries, strawberries. You can make yourself a feast. I never tire of it. Claire

BTW Please join me in emailing Post to produce 1/2 sugar coco pebbles!!! at $2 a box, this cearl much easier to deal with in the budget then any other gluten-free ones!

I realize I am brining back a topic from the near dead, but I have found a very useful Gluten-free website that keeps up-to-date information on things such as new cereals that are gluten free. It is called the Ventura County Celiacs. I have not yet tried any of the cereals it says are to be gluten free, though the website seems sound.

Corn Crunch'ems! They taste like corn chex. I add toasted pecans or walnuts (or both!!) and a drizzle of honey....

a few posts back someone asked about a hot cereal. i didn't eat a lot of oatmeal before gluten-free but i found a recipe i loooove that i think similar to it. it is a rice pudding with just milk, rice, sugar, and then i like to add raisins and cinnamon and some slivered almonds. it's really good...but probably not nutritionally sound... hmm... lol :) you can email me or whatever if you want the recipe. kms_10@hotmail.com.

chock one up for me on the envrikids also. i like the fake frosted flakes best.

For Mainstream cereals Fruity Pebbles.

For others, I do PerkyO's frosted flavor but at almost $7 a box I rarely buy it.

I wish Fruity Pebbles would go on sale.

I've always bought cereal with coupons/sales - now my options are limited, and it seems like the few available just won't firggen go on sale at my local shop.

I used to be a raisin bran, grape nuts, granola, kashi kind of guy (wonder why I was always sick?!)

Puffed rice just doesn't float my boat.

Some one mentioned Trix being OK, but that was a hell of a long list of ingredients. I'm still learning and just didn't feel comfortable buying tonight. Anyone know? Is that company pretty good about making sure that things are pretty clear.....

Nu-world foods (google them for their online store) makes wonderful gluten-free amaranth-based cereals. I like their basic original Amaranth-Os--they ahve a great crunchy texture and are full of fiber. They are unsweetened, so they are bland by themselves, but with a teaspoon of maple syrup they are yummy. they also have a Cocoa Snaps cereal that is DELICIOUS but too decadent for everyday in my opinion. :)

I like Mesa Sunrise, too.

Alice :)

I do believe that people are under so much pressure up have a sleeping  pattern ,  with working and how households work these days , but in reality there is no wrong or right at to sleep , I believe your neighbour showed this with such a long life , I do exactly the same  at night many times so I hope I live into my nineties also , I have found one thing in life your body knows what's best so good to listen to wat it needs however unconventional that maybe 🤗

Try adding some Thiamine Hydrochloride (thiamine HCl) and see if there's any difference.  Thiamine HCl uses special thiamine transporters to get inside cells.  I take it myself.   Tryptophan will help heal the intestines.  Tryptophan is that amino acid in turkey that makes you sleepy after Thanksgiving dinner.  I take mine with magnesium before bedtime.

I live in the upper mid-west and was just diagnosed with marsh 3c celiac less than a month ago.  As a 51 year old male, I now take a couple of different gluten free vitamins.  I have not noticed any reaction to either of these items.  Both were purchased from Amazon. 1.  Nature Made Multivitamin For Him with No Iron 2.  Gade Nutrition Organic Quercetin with Bromelain Vitamin C and Zinc Between those two, I am ingesting 2000 IU of vitamin D per day. Best of luck, Known1

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +
