First week gave relief...second week BACK TO MY SYMPTOMS

Hello all,

I really need someone to help me understand my test results/symptoms, etc. I have been having diarrhea for 4+ months, have slowly been losing weight and have had really itchy legs. I have pain in my lower right side intestine and my intestine, as it has gotten worse, has felt pretty raw. I thought I had a tapeworm, went to a doctor and got a ton of tests. The only thing abnormal was my celiac panel. My results are below, if someone could give me more insight into what they mean, I would really appreciate it. TO carry on, I finally went off gluten about a week and a half ago. Immediately, I had stopped having bad diarrhea and for that to carry on for 6 days that was a big deal. So, I acknowledged that I probably am celiac and went to the store and redid my whole pantry. I have been eating all gluten free but as of this week, I'm gassy, having diarrhea really bad, having TONS of stomach pain and really discouraged. I don't have an appointment with a gastro doctor for another month...and I'm so worried. Can someone give me some insight??

Your blood work looks like it's basically negative.  A tiny bit positive on a ttg test could be nothing or even from something else.  If you are going to get an endoscopy to check for Celiac, you need to continue eating gluten to help get accurate results.

Karen is right.  A slight elevation on the TTG  IgG could be related to another autoimmune disorder (e.g. Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Lyme Disease..  anything really).    You should consult with a Gastroenterologist.  Keep consuming gluten or your tests results (blood, if he runs them again, and/or endoscopy will be invalid).  Celiac disease should be evaluated and only ruled out or in by the GI.   If you remain gluten free and you will never know where you stand.  You could also delay getting a proper diagnosis.

I hope you feel better soon.

Wheat flour is fortified with vitamins in the U.S. as a part of USDA policy. Gluten free facsimile products are not fortified. There is no government mandate for such. When you remove wheat flour by going gluten free, you may be removing a significant source of vitamins.
