Are there more bloods to come?

Hi I'm new here.

I've been experiencing sharp pain on upper left hand side, floating stools, gas and wind. They have also found out I have macrocytic anemia (high mch and mcv) low ferritin and low vit d ' b12 is normal but still low at 268.

I've been referred to a gastro and my appointment is on the 19th. 

GP order coeliac screen and this has come back but I'm unsure as this doesn't seem to be the full test. 

Can anyone shed any light on this? I've googled and given myself every condition under the sun and getting myself in a tizz.

Wow!  This is different.  Running an IgA (Immunoglobulin A) test prior to a celiac panel when they suspect celiac disease?  Some celiacs are IgA deficient making some of the celiac tests invalid (used as a control test).  Others, like me are very high in IgA which can mean you have other autoimmune issues or illnesses.  If you want to see if you have celiac disease, ask for the entire panel.

I am assuming they figure your Gastro will run the celiac serum panel. That sure is weird though. A PCP or GP or any doc can order the celiac blood panel so I don't know why they ONLY ran the one checking to see if you are IgA deficient.

Keep eating gluten every day!

Thank you. I rang and spoke to receptionist but she said it said okay. Couldn't see anything that I could. I've been told bloods okay before and they haven't been and clearly flagged. Now I'm waiting until my Dr back in. But receptionist said she couldn't see any bloods outstanding.

Thank you, it's very strange and receptionist said no more bloods to come back and it says it's okay. It's strange it's over the range though.

      Welcome @Trish G to the forum. Hard or lumpy stools and infrequent bowel movements.  My brother likes Phillips Stool Softener, Ducolate Sodium.   Just a question. Was the benefiber helping?

      I think you may be correct. The way the results are printed makes it appear as though it’s the ttg iga but I think you’re right—the 646 is total iga. So this would be indicative of another issue (another autoimmune condition, infection, cancer, etc.) and my doctor would need to do further testing. Thank you for saying this!

      Are you sure that is the TTG IgA? Based on the units (mg/dL) and having an upper limit to the normal range, it looks like a total IgA result.

      I am wondering if there are any vegetarians or vegans on this forum. I’ve been vegan for 15+ years and am just finding out I likely have celiac disease (blood panel done, need biopsy). My favorite foods—outside of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds—I will likely have to give up. Anyone else?

      Welcome to the forum, @Trish G! "Gluten free" does not necessarily equate to "no gluten". According to FDA standards it actually means that a food product contains no more than 20ppm of gluten. This is safe for most celiacs but would not be for those who are on the more sensitive end of the spectrum. So, it would depend on the individual celiac and their level of sensitivity to minor amounts of gluten. That's the long and nuanced answer. The short answer is that it is a product derived from wheat and so you can be certain it will contain some residual amounts of gluten. No gluten removal process is 100% effective. So, to be absolutely certain, stay away from it. Have you tried chia seeds? Very high in fiber and quickly turns into a gel when added to water. Make sure you get seeds that are gluten free if you decide to try it.
