Safe Rice Milk

What rice milk is safe for gluten? My son has been having belly problems and I just read that Rice dream has barley. I've been using Shoprite brand. I wonder if he is getting gluten. I'm going to call Shoprite and ask but they are clueless about anything I ask. I was using Rice dream also on and off if it's on sale. I know his belly is reacting to something and I'm just trying to figure it out.

I don't have any problems with Whole Foods 365 Organic Rice Milk, Wild Oats brand Rice Milk or Lundberg's Drink Rice.

i have also cked on and used wild oats and whole foods (my two favorites) as well as pacific's (tastes a little mayoish to me) and full circle (good tasting).

I know someone already posted Lundberg's ricemilk, but I just want to add that I LOVE THE TASTE OF IT! I go through 3 cartons a week! Is that bad? hahah I don't care actually. I get the vanilla kind, but the original tastes good too.

Yep, Lundenberg farms rice milk is good. I find that I have to watch my intake though b.c it is high carb and it seems to make me hungrier sooner than other foods. Enjoy!

I can't seem to find any of these rice milks anywhere. I tried to find it online but i can't. I don't have a wholefoods near me. I have a health foods store but they only have Rice dream and Garden of Eden soy and rice.

Hi - This is my first time posting here and I'm wondering about this Rice Dream situation. What I found is that on the Rice Dream "Original" package, there is no barley, but on the "Enriched" brand there is -- and they have clearly stated the amount of gluten in the product on the packaging. I have assumed that the "Original" is okay to drink.

Am I wrong? I've been drinking this every day for quite a while now. Over the past week I've developed some kind of inflammation in my stomach, though, and am wondering if this could be part of the problem.

I've been gluten-free since 1997 and am working towards becoming dairy free as well.

Thanks.

Kathy

Kathy-

Go here to read their statement and see a gluten-free list: Open Original Shared Link They list no rice dream beverage as safe.

What about Westsoy rice milk? Is that safe? The company didn't get back to me yet. It's from Hanes I think.

Hi!

Have you ever tried the Blue Diamond brand almond milk. I too do not have access to some of the gluten free rice milks, but my grocery store carries the almond milk. The chocolate is really good you might want to try it.

Cheryl : :D

EdenSoy has a rice/soy blend that clearly states gluten-free. Claire

I get my chips at either Wild Oats, another local health food store or Kroger--ours has a 'natural' section with the chips. I thought Whole Foods has them too...pretty sure I bought some at one of the Whole Foods in Chicago. You'll really like them :)

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
