Processed In The Same Facility As Wheat

as far as foods that are gluten free, but processed in a facility that processes gluten-----do any of you use these products? i would imagine that sometimes the products are contaminated and sometimes they are fine. i would also think that the type of product it is would make a difference in how easily it would or would not get cross contaminated. ( i would imagine a dry product could spread dust, where a wet product wouldn't) i think i have read that some people have had no problems with some products and some have had more problems. is this something that you just make a judgement call on---if you don't have a problem you assume it is ok?

I mostly try and stay away from products made in the same facility. Of course, there are some exceptions. It's kind of a 'try and see how it goes' kind of thing for me. Some things are fine and others aren't. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. After a while, you'll know which will work for you.

For me it is a food by food basis. Lately, I have been feeling really good and have become more hesitant about eating foods with those warning labels. I really do not want to be sick.

      I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

      I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

      trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency.       Wheatwacked, are you speaking of the use of potassium bromide and and azodicarbonamide as dough modifiers being controlling factor for what? Do you refer to celiac reactions to gluten or thyroid disease, kidney disease, GI cancers?
