Poop Question

You know, you would think that by now I would be more comfortable with talking about poop, but here I am and I'm still not. Let me just appoligize in advance for the grossness of this post.

I'm not sure what is going on, if it is gluten or something else. My poop has been pretty normal, make that exceptionally normal (it's sad when a 25 year old woman is proud of her poop  ) for the last week or so. However, I'm having a lot of mucus with it. WHen I am badly glutened, I generally do get some mucus, but this is not a typical gluten reaction for me at all. No bloating, no D, no C......just this. I'm about 6 months pregnant and because of this I'm considering calling the Dr. Do I call my regular Dr., or do I call the OBGYN? I don't have a regular GI so that's out of the question. What do you guys think?

Is your nose running? Are you having a hay fever-type reaction to anything? An allergic reaction to pollens will cause me to have lots of mucus in my stools. And don't be embarrassed by questions about your poop, this is a serious issue for celiacs!

mucous is always in the gut to an extent, but more can be a sign of irritation.

Well, throughout my pregnancy I've had a stuffy nose, but my OBGYN has told me that is normal for a pregnant woman, because hormone make the linning in your nose swell.. No fever at all. I've been getting a dull pain in my abdomen all day though. I would think if it was an infection of some sort I would have a fever, but I don't know. This really all started back at Christmas. I was glutened really badly. It took weeks to get over it. I got over all the symptoms (finally) exept for the mucus. That was really minimal until this morning too though. I mentioned it to my Dr. last time I saw him, but he didn't seem too worried.

I don't know about the mucous, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one to have poop pride. It had been so long since my stools had been normal that since going gluten-free, I have actually beamed with pride over some of my creations. On more than one occasion I have offered my BF the opportunity to see them. He has yet to take me up on it.

HaHa--you said it! I had forgotten what 'normal' even was after being sick for 20 years. Now, barring a reaction, I think I finally know what normal is and I'm pretty darn proud of the ol' bathroom creations, myself

LOL  Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one! I remember the days when I never had a reason for poop conversations. Now days I talk to my husband, my mom, my doctor, my pharmasist, everybody on this board.....sometimes I'm just amazed how many people know so much about me! :P

I broke down and called my OBGYN earlier....they are refering me to a GI, so I'm glad I called. I really need to have a GI that I can see anyway!

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
