Gluten intolerance

Hi,

I have had a cough for two years with post nasal drip and lately I have been having some digestive symptoms suggestive of gluten intolerance including brain fog and anxiety. I don't see a cough as being a usual symptom but could the two be related?

Many thanks

Val

My sinuses were basically 90% clogged for over 20 years before I went gluten-free. I had gone to allergists, and at one point was giving myself daily allergy shots for food and pollen allergies, but nothing helped until I finally went gluten-free.

So in my case the two were related, although allergy issues are not seen in most lists of celiac disease symptoms.

Yes my congestion gets worse with gluten as well. Gluten opens up a terrible portal to all kinds of awful for me. Allergy pills alone were not enough more than one Dr suggested netti pot for me.

Also I get really bad esophageal stomach inflammation that looks like acid reflux, but is due to my gluten intolerance. At times in life I vomited very easily as a middle schooler looking back after I ate a heavy gluten focused meal. My late teens,  then all heck broke loose in my early 20s. One time as I climbed in my car after meeting my friends for Olive Garden.  I had not even had time to digest yet. I had no warning of vomit coming it came out with no gag reflex whatsoever-

During my gluten challenge I would get a knot sensation in my throat. My neck and chin area inflammes and swells . So for me at times things come very easily and other times with age things had a hard time going down too.

Yep crazy stories.....

Does anybody know of a guide that ranks reevaluates universities and colleges in terms of their accommodation of celiac disease or food allergies?   Thanks in advance for any leads! Valerie

thank you, i have been doing that the last few weeks and will continue to do so. I had not had my ttg iga checked since I was diagnosed 14 yrs ago so I am not sure if they ever dropped below the 15-20 range.    all my other labs are completely normal but I am concerned that this may be signs of refractor celiac or something else since I'm so careful with gluten-free diet

Around 9% of celiacs cannot tolerate any oats, even gluten-free oats. It might be worth eliminating them for a few months, then get re-tested.

I only eat certifed gluten-free products but a lot of which are processed. Could there be trace gluten in those or is that very unlikely?

For people with celiac disease hidden gluten in their diets is the main cause of elevated Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibodies (tTG-IgA), but there are other conditions, including cow's milk/casein intolerance, that can also cause this, and here is an article about the other possible causes (you may want to avoid oats):
