Yeah! I found the Trix cereal without wrbo, now the only thing I am worried about is cross contamination. What are your thoughts? The Trix cereal is the one that is 75% less sugar. I bought it at Safeway in Lodi, California.

Only time will tell, I am sure the early boxes will have a much higher risk then down the road though...

i have been checking trix and cocoa puffs----but we live way out in podunk idaho----aren't we still kind of the last wild frontier? i'm afraid it will be forever before the safe stuff gets out our way!

Not to sound ungrateful, but we'd like to see a "grown up taste" cereal, low in sugar that's gluten-free and perhaps has corn or rice bran in it. Can't have nuts, and too much roughage, so those gorilla munches are out.

Maybe like a Crispix (rice/corn cereal) type or a Kix type of cereal.

Haha!! I found Coca Puffs last night here in MN! It does say more chocolatey taste and the copy right on the package under the ingredients is 2006. The exp date is Sept. I just ate a bowl and I will let you know how I feel today!!

Are you saying that Trix & Coco Puffs are gluten-free? Did they change the ingredients in some way to make them gluten-free? Please fill us in.

This is a change, Cocoa Puffs and Trix MIGHT be safe for us to eat. This is a NEW formula that has not hit all the stores yet. You HAVE to check the ingredinets on the boxes to see if you have the new formula yet. It seems to be boxes with and experiation date of STEPMBER 2006 or later that have the new formula.

There is some question bout CARMEL COLOR in cocoa puffs, but this is all still new and emerging information so be careful and treadwisly! :D

Are you sure that it does not contain wheat starch? I have a box with 75% less sugar, exp is sep 14 06, and the 4th ingredient from the last says wheat starch. I missed it at first, so i bought it. Just checking.

Thanks for the information. There is another post going on "Are they any real people cereal?" that is addressing the Coco Puff / Trix debate.

I hope Coco Puffs are gluten-free my kids eat them and now I can - hopefully. Kids haven't been tested yet. They have no symptoms and well be at their next Dr. visits

I too, hate "kid" cereal. I just don't like eating that much sugar, and if I am getting sugar, would much rather be enjoying a bag of M&M's.

Here's what I received today from GM in response to my question about the caramel color in the reformulated Cocoa Puffs possibly containing barley malt:

I am so sorry, I missed it! Your correct is does say wheat starch. The dumb thing is I ate it today, I hope I don't get sick. SORRY!

I have not seen any gluten-free Trix as of yet. We have a box of the Coca puffs and so far so good! Neither me or Belle got sick!

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
