If anybody could tell me if any of these ingredients contain gluten it would be greatly appreciated, this is from Mallinckrodt generic adderall XR. Link below with listed ingredients.

Welcome to the forum Josh!

I doubt if anyone can answer your question off the top of their head. Your best bet would be to call the dispensing pharmacy and find out who the manufacturer is. They may also have a phone number and/or email for the manufacturer. Then you would need to contact the manufacturer directly. The manufacturer should be able to tell you if wheat starch is used as an ingredient. Wheat starch is sometimes used as a filler in pills even though it is not an active ingredient.

Looking at the ingredients in your link, it is VERY unlikely that any of them are derived from wheat.  Hydroxypropyl cellulose is usually derived from wood or cotton (per Glutenfreedrugs).

There is always a chance that an ingredient could be contaminated, but again that is unlikely.

Here is contact info for Mallinckrodt generics.  You could contact them and ask.

A quick look at the inactive ingredients in the link, and I also don't see anything that would have gluten in it. It uses corn starch to make the pill stick together.

Josh, I'm interested in why you created this topic. My most recent prescription for generic Adderall XR was manufactured by Mallinckrodt, and I began taking it yesterday. I did not consider my medication to be at risk of containing gluten, but I most certainly reacted to the medication this morning as though it contained gluten.

As Scott said above, none of the "inactive" are a concern as a gluten-containing ingredient. None have even even much potential for be derived from processes using/containing gluten. My experience is anecdotal, but I can only conclude that there was gluten in it because: 1. I took today's dose 2+ hours after eating anything (breakfast) 2. My breakfast is safe and is the same every day and, 3. I noticed onset of symptoms within 30 minutes of taking that dose.

It is possible, but could it also be a side-effect of this medication, or some other ingredient in it?

Her poop is totally normal since going gluten free. Once or twice per day.  She eats a lot of fruits and veggies. No juice. She said the squeezing is in the spot where her food goes in her belly. Definitely not dehydrated. She drinks tons of water.

Hurrah for an official diagnosis!   You may want to put the whole family on gluten free, as a preventative measure for the ones not testing positive right now.  Remember, exposure to gluten triggers the Celiac genes your kids have inherited from you.  Keeping them gluten free now, even though they don't test positive right now, can delay triggering Celiac Disease development in them.

@annirosex, Get your Vitamin D level checked.  Low Vitamin D can mess up menstrual cycles.  Vitamin D at healthy levels (80-100) acts as a hormone and regulates your immune system.  Thiamine Vitamin B 1 is needed to activate Vitamin D, so adding thiamine in the form Benfotiamine would be beneficial.

Thank you! I saw a different provider this week who took one look at all my medical information and declared it was celiac in the first 5 minutes of the appointment. I am still a bit in shock but so very thankful to have an official diagnosis. The doctor told me to have my children tested and one of them came back with a "weak positive" TTG IgA! Not sure what to think about that! This week has been a wild ride. Thankfully this website has such great information! I've been going through all the do's and don't's of cross contact etc.
