Capt'n Morgan seems like a manly choice. Put a parrot on your shoulder and you'd be all set!

You could always try to find the ever elusive gluten-free beers. I have no idea how they taste but I am definitely interested in trying them. I miss beer.

Well, another gluten free day comes to an end.

Almost gluten free i should say. I took a bite of my daughter's baked potato soup, quickly realized it probably contained flour, but didn't feel like spitting it out at the restaurant. Other than this though I'm clean for another day.

I did have to throw away my midday snack before eating it. What idiot decided to put wheat flour in nacho cheese Doritos?

And despite these little missteps, I continue to have such pleasantly normal bowel habits. I am sure only you kindred spirits can fully appreciate the beauty of this.

And enough talk of IQ's. I mean, people with really high IQ's don't hang around celiac message boards talking about manly gluten free alcohol and altoids and bowel movements like we do. But then again, maybe it's just the brain fog.

I will now curl up with my new must read bedtime book "Celiac Disease:A Hidden Epidemic". I'm sure it'll be a best seller. Thanks to LauraJ for the tip.

Karen -Can I just say YOU ROCK! I may have to give up having desert with my friends when we go out (am from french canada, and every social occasion happens around restaurants...am so SICK of watching other people eat decadent foods) but at least I can get LOADED! Wow, great list! That is going straight to the printer.

I have to say, I hate beer (am Canadian, please don't report me, think its a jailable offence here) it has always made me incredibly sick...could it be that the alcohol in the beer speeds the gluten absorption in the gut ???

Anyhoo - my boyfriend LOVES beer and is trying to convince me to try japanese beers (like saporo) he claims that they are made from rice, not wheat.

And for radman (welcome! I am a newbie too and am learning a lot here am hoping you stay as am sure you have lots of info you can share with us. This board is addictive though!)

And for those who wanted to get Radman dancing on the table, maybe we should all chip in a few bucks and buy him one of these:

And for the record, I love vodka. And I think a man drinking straight vodka is hardcore - beer drinkers look wimpy next to a straight vodka drinker! (patato based of course!)

Robix - Saporo, which is brewed using rice, is not safe. Do a search to get a lot of info on the product.

Maybe we can get them to donate it for the convention. That is for sure, metal can be hot or cold. PVC not so bad.

Nothing says "classy" like a spraypainted PVC pipe in the middle of your living room, eh?

I'm going to have to get black leather couches, black laquered furniture, and lots of faux leapord to go with it! B)

Ironed out - can I say a big fat THANK GAWD i can claim the gluten thing to keep my boyfriend from making me drink saporo?! Can I say it again, I hate beer!!! Wooohooo - now I don't have to get nagged about "drinking the right beer".

And as for the PVC pipe - the whole idea is that if you are using it right - no one should be looking at the POLE...ahem. Perhpaps some pasties and well placed tassels on your person will distract them from the spray painted pvc and the leopard print couches? -_-

After all, nothing says classy like tassels! He he he.

Oh, and I recommend covering your couches with plastic for a final touch of pazazz, and practicality.

My mom's landlord actually just bought leopard print couches. Not kidding. She bought them, on purpose, to go with her 70's nasty rust colored shag carpeting. Where does one go to find leopard print couches?!

She doesn't have a pole though...yet :P

It must be strategically placed away from the window not only for privacy but can't have the sun beating down on it and then sit down (OUCH!)! :o

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned the chandalier to swing on and ostrich feathers..... :P

Well,

nothing like reading the, um, interesting posts on the celiac board to get your mind off another day of misery and pain at the shop.

Now, what I had in mind regarding dancing on tables was more of a Greek-type stomp after heavy indulgence with tequila, certainly not something that would require a Little Mynx dance pole. Remember, we've been talking about how a man can be a celiac without losing face with his cretin buddies. I can say with relative certainty that pole dancing will not be compatible with that goal. I mean, we can be observers of pole dancing, but definitely not participators.

At the suggestion of psawyer, I did, in fact, google altoids. Quite eye opening. Intriguing, yes, but I'm not sure what the full moon association may be.

It was during a full moon that the thread in question that brought up the subject of Altoids and their "unique" use, came about. So now, whenever it is a full moon, there are a few of us who put on a "straightjacket" to make sure we behave...... :rolleyes:;)

      Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

      Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

      Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

      Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
