Thanks for posting that, Moongirl. When I suggest BE, I always follow with "their skincare line is not gluten-free". The skin rever-upper is also not gluten-free. No matter what product you use, it's always best to check the label :)

give mineralbasics a try, its all gluten-free and great stuff, I used to use only BE, but I like this better and the prices are amazing!

:o Hi This may sound stupid, but are you saying that gluten in makeup absorbed into the skin affects your intestines?? I guess I never thought of it. So I can't use bare escentuals? wow....

No gluten is not absorbed thru the skin. Some Celiac's do have skin problems when they put lotions containing wheat on their skin (rashes and dermatitis herpiformis) but I'd say most of us do not. The problem is that its very hard to keep skin lotions away from our mouths.. you have to be really careful not to apply near your mouth and then to wash your hands carefully. Some say if you even touch your face hours after you put a lotion containing wheat on it that your hands are filled with gluten.

Its my understanding that the Bare Essentials make up is gluten free, its just their skin care products that are not. However when I started using bare Essentials I got a lotion with the kit that contained wheat (I didn't realize it at first) and I do use it around my eyes and on my forehead and I've not had any problems with it. I doubt I'd buy it again because I hate being so careful but I must say I love how it works.

Hope this helps a bit,

Susan

I also stay away from their skincare line... On that note--has anyone tried their new Light Face Lifting Duo?? Was curious about it: Open Original Shared Link

I know that their skin care line has gluten in alot of it. Their makeup line I really like:)

Can you tell me more about why you like Mineral Basics? I am trying Bare Minerals right now, but I'm willing to switch to something cheaper and definitely 100% gluten free. I'd love to hear more about why you like Mineral Basics!

Thanks!

Hi AnnieMae and welcome :)

Several of us are using Everyday Minerals. It's a great line, less expensive than BE and it's all gluten-free. Here's the link to the thread--

GliadinX is such a product and many/some report it really helps. In the interest of disclosure, the company that produces it is one of our sponsors.

Occasionally eating out in restaurants means that there is potential cross contamination in spite of ordering a gluten free dish. What enzyme supplements can the forum recommend that would help with potential cross contamination? Something I could take before I start eating. I used to order Wheat Rescue from Microbiome lab, but it is not available anymore.

Hi  - Anyone have any experience with these? I bought them at Costco thinking they must be gluten-free, but now I see Natural Flavors and Spice in the ingredients. There's no Gluten Free labeling. However the Costco site and two other sites say it's gluten free. Anyone know?

Yes, I doubt you can find a perfectly safe restaurant--perhaps a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, but in general, very few of them exist, and they tend to be in larger cities. Super sensitive celiacs should probably just avoid eating out.
