Does anyone know if the new Skittles Smoothie mix is gluten-free? Hubby brought them home last night so I can't call company to find out. I would love to use these in the kids Easter baskets. The colors are so pretty!!

Thanks

Cali

According to the Master Foods automated line, all Skittles products are gluten-free, but def. read the labels, if anything looks suspicious (Like OBVIOUS gluten) then don't... Master Foods is one company that will not hide gluten in the artificial flavors or anything, so if Wheat, Barley, Rye, or Oats are not on the label, it's safe

Skittles makes a smoothie mix?! I think the idea of smoothie mixes is kinda silly in the first place, but ... wow... is there anything in it other than whey and sugar?! ;-P (Yeah, yeah, I'm being something of a smartass... :P )

Wow I had no idea I could eat Skittles.

I loooove skittles. I am a personal fan of the Wild Berry variety. The new "ice cream" ones are really gross.

Not a fan of the smoothie mix either.

Are the sour ones gluten-free also? I've always loved those, but they sure do tear your mouth up.

Sweet!

haha, pun intended!

I just bought some skittles today. I got the original ones. Are all of them gluten-free?

I know the original ones are (just so you can eat them right now!) ha. But I'm only pretty sure the others are gluten-free/cf too.

Carriefaith Enthusiast

I'm happy with the orginal ones :) Actually I'm really excited, but I may start craving the other flavours. I'm going to eat them right now! Yay!

I haven't been deprived of treats or anything

I wish they didn't have corn, there is like no candy that I can have :(

Well I've tried the Skittles and I didn't get sick :D I'm always nervous for about 12 hours after trying a new product.

I'm always worried too for the first day too. Thatnks for being the guinea pig, I'm going to go buy some now.

lol

Well if I didn't react to them, then they must be safe. I am super sensitive; therefore, I'm the perfect guinea pig!

Can you try those Purely Vanilla bars for me? Just kidding, I'll try them myself and the Skittles. I am so excited about these new snacks.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.
