Thank you Laura! Mind boggling isn't it?! I think I've determined that corn isn't the problem (at least not in it's purest form) for me, but I've bookmarked the page just in case. I see many things on that list that DO bother me for some reason so it's good to have.

I avoid obvious corn ... don't really think I have a problem, but I think that until I feel better it's a good idea for me to avoid major allergens. Hopefully, it won't develop into a problem!!! Yikes!

Laura, I thought of you when I ate my short grain brown rice last night .... you are the one who asked that of me, right?

Yes I did. Thanks for the thought! I am really missing my carbs. I ate a steak for breakfast this morning (hey, I was hungry!)

My husband usually buys me a porterhouse on Friday ... then I eat the leftover steak with eggs and gluten-free toast on Saturday! YUM!! He's in Florida right now, so I guess I'll buy my own steak this week!

Are you intolerant to all carbs at this point?

Great minds think alike, lol...I also had steak, ribeye to be exact...also had corn which I know you can't have. I've been having steak for breakfast since Whole Foods has been sold out of my beloved Bumble Bars, lol. :lol:

Carla, I sure hope so. But, if part of the problem is that I'm reacting to lectins, I'm not sure how that works....many people have lifelong intolerance to lectins. (Not trying to be pessimistic, just trying to be realistic!)

That's probably true, but it could be that those people never bother to go to the trouble to heal their gut. Let's think positively!!

I react to all the lectins, too--except potatoes, thankfully. I really have no idea how long it will be before I can eat any of them again. (or if) Some cause more severe reaction than others, some immediate, some delayed. That's why it's so hard to figure it all out.

I plan to go at least a year at my present diet. I know my sensitivites are due to leaky gut, and I want to give it enough time to heal. Sometimes though, I feel like I'm "flying by the seat of my pants" on this! I know that I do ok when I stick to meats as my only protein source--all of the plant sources give me problems. That's why I feel it's leaky gut--it's the proteins that leak out and cause reactions. I think..

I'm eating only meat and eggs as my protein, then just veggies. I do eat some potatoes, rice and gluten-free bread, but only twice a day (I know, it's better than nothing!!). Veggie sources of protein don't sit well with me either.

I can get away with rice--but not more than about once or twice a month. Any more often, and it starts to bother me. I wish I could eat eggs--but they make me terribly nauseous.

I usually just eat meat, fruit, veggies, almonds and potatoes. Oh, and some dark chocolate :ph34r:

Writing it down makes it seem very restrictive, but in reality, I manage to eat pretty well.

Thanks for the website. I've bookmarked it, but haven't looked at it yet. I'm not intolerant to corn but won't have the test results back on the others (except the baby) for a couple weeks yet. I also don't like the gmo corn and I assume that is what is used for all the derivatives. Grrrrr, maybe I'll have to study that list and see how much we can leave out. I do believe gmo stuff wrecks havoc with our systems. Could be part of the puzzle as to why so many intolerances develop, especially with leaky gut.

What do you guys think?

I have found that the veggie sources of protein have become more of a problem for me. I can tolerate a few beans/legumes but most are out.

What is the problem with just posting a question if you can't figure this thread out? How hard is it to just ask? If you don't like the chit-chat, just ignore it.

No need to ask, there's nothing to figure out. Either it's on topic - some topic - or it's all over the place.

I had just been checking this thread out every month to see if it looks like it's on topic (anything to do with celiac). I read a page or two or three. Nope, just chit-chat, check in again in a month.

This time I came in on the page where Vincent was complaining about being cut off while somebody needed support, and I couldn't figure out what was going on, so I went back 20 or 40 pages to see. I was horrified at what I read. :o:blink::unsure:

The posts Vincent was talking about were deleted. This thread has been one largely of support of whatever people have been going through. We've covered the gamut of corn, dairy, msg, auxigro, sulfur, lyme, mercury toxicitiy, water and filters, along with others I'm sure I'm forgetting. We've had chit chat and laughter in between to elevate some of the stress that people have been going through.

It would be nice if threads could be renamed, but once people jump in and see that this is an all inclusive "intolerant" thread, the ones that want to stay do. We welcome everybody that wants to try and figure out things based on the collective responses of others on this thread.

Is the topic dairy anymore. Not usually, but lots of us still love dairy even though we can't/don't have it anymore. :D

I may have my doc re-run the test for IgA and see. This is the only reference I've seen anywhere online a reference to IgA doing something other than gluten.

Anyway, I don't think I have problems with all lectin foods, but it does help fill in some blanks. I still eat most grains (cept corn) with no problems, potatoes, and tomatoes. Just everything else that I avoid: Dairy, legumes, peppers, corn.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my info.

I wanted to comment on the white bean, soy and peanuts. I left my binder with my doctor by accident so I don't have ready reference. I am intolerant to the navy bean (does that count for the white bean?), soy bean, pinto bean and kidney bean. I tested ok for peanuts IgE/IgG but don't eat them since I don't want to develop a problem with them and I've read that soy or peanut intolerance will usually lead to becoming intolerant of the other.

She is also concerned with my mercury level, but even more so, my aluminum level (so much for all the great gluten-free uses of FOIL!! :blink: ).

Carla, I got sick the other night eating grilled fish wrapped in foil. I have been suspecting that foil... :blink: just saw your post.... maybe that aluminum is the problem. :ph34r:

That's interesting, depending on the fish, you may have gotten aluminum and mercury all in one meal!! I used to cover things with foil all the time to cook ... I stopped doing that.

      so do you have celiac or not? 🤔 why are your vision issues undiagnosed? 😢 what does your ophthalmologist say?  do you have a serious vit A deficiency? what do you take for it? how long have you had celiac disease and how long did  it take to get a diagnosis?   if you are legally blind there are adaptive devices that will help you. I have vision difficulties as well but did not qualify (at least not yet)   do you have a vit A deficiency? why are you undiagnosed? what does your ophthalmologist say? I have a retinal specialist and he tells me my eye condition can not be fixed- until/unless it gets to the point of where surgery is safer since the surgery can leave me actually blind... so you want to wait til it gets really bad 🤪     I hope you find what works for you.    PS   the medication I started at the same time as the gluten challenge is obvious from the condition it's trying to treat. you can google it 😉 it is not an for any auto immune condition.

      during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me

      @catnapt,  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.   How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them.  Do you pressure cook your beans?  Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking?  Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production.  Do you have anemia?

      oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st   worst 12 days of my life   Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔
