I don't know who did the test. The local lab said they had to send the specimen somewhere else cause they couldn't do it. What did you do for your leaky gut?

:lol::lol:

Sorry...I guess Carla and Donna beat me to the punch about Lyme testing!

So yeah...anyone else wanna add that Igenix is the best lab for testing?? :P

I'm not doing anything specific as far as treating leaky gut. Candida and Leaky gut are generally a symtpom of a larger problem. For me its mostly mercury and other heavy metals...and I also have Lyme.

I'm addressing those things since if it werent for them I wouldnt have leaky gut to begin with.

My gut isnt going to heal with all this other stuff going on...so I have to prioritize. Get rid of the big issues and then the body can pretty much heal itself.

How do you get metal toxicity diagnosed?

I wouldnt trust those test resuts. <_<

The labs most doctors use have something like 60% sensitivity for picking up Lyme. Thats real bad...you want something close to 100% sensitive when testing for something as serious as Lyme. This is why most cases go undiagnosed. :(

I guessed that that one was you only because the other one that looked older than the ones in front looked like Morgan. You look like teenager.

How do you get metal toxicity diagnosed?

I have real good Dr.'s who specialize in this type of stuff. They understand how all this works and what types of things cause it.

Conventional...or "mainstream" Dr.'s do not really address these issues. I see "Integrative" Dr.'s who diagnose and treat all sorts of things but mostly specialize in Mercury Detox, Lyme Disease and Autism.

Also these things seem to be intertwined.

If you have Lyme you tend to have issues with heavy metals....if you have heavy metals for sure you've got candida...if you've got candida and mercury then you've probably got leaky gut....if you've got leaky gut you're likely dealing with a whole lot of intolerances...and so on and so on.

If your a small child with all of this going on....that would be called Autism. :(

So I have Dr.'s who know how it works. I've only very recently started any treatment. I've treated candida and leaky gut in the past....to no avail...because I wasnt really getting to the root of my problems. I was basically doing it on my own.

You take a chelating agent and do a urine test.

Thanks Andrea and Laura.

Laura, have you started the new antibiotic yet? What are you now taking?

Off for ice cream and presents. Andrea, ANY ice cream is more than normal!! LOL Normally I'd eat a whole pint, tonight, just a half pint. :P

I'm on Biaxin, from the same family. My insurance wouldn't approve the zith. They have no problem with Mepron, but they denied zith. Strange.

I'm on doxy, but they're going to change it for the summer, probably to mino. Good thing you're not on it, I got sun poisoning on my hand through the car window when I had #35 sunscreen on.

Hi Carla,

Is it too nosey of me to ask why you are taking doxy? My sister was on it for about a year and had wonderful result for pain.

No, it's not too nosey, this is the stuff we talk about! :) I have Lyme Disease and a babesia coinfection. I'm on a bunch of medication and supplements for it -- medications to kill the bugs, supplements to rebuild my immune system.

Here's a link to root canals and cancer for anyone interested.

I know my doctor has told me they have been implicated in women with breast cancer as well.

There is another good site which I think Rachel already linked.....tuberose.

Just noticed I totally read the question wrong. Thought she asked "How did you get diagnosed for heavy metal toxicity?" My post makes no sense.

Ummm...yeah...what Carla said.

You take a chelating agent and do a urine test. :D

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Andrea and Rachel,

Now I am back where I started! I just want to cry! :( This root canal business is causing major problems. All I know is I am in pain and need to fix it. The problem is what is the answer?

Dear Donna,

I think the Valerian may be the trouble. I know it gave me difficulty. The morning supplements should not be a problem. However, the 5-HTP could be the source. My father said it could do that, too. He used to work for an herbal company. Anyway, those are two possibilities.

Dear Mango,

 Those geese do sound like ours! They stole them! The Auxigro people poisoned them, then brainwashed them! You know what this means...another lawsuit. As District Attorney of Rachelville, I am obligated to file a major lawsuit. They won't get away with this!

Dear Laura,

We can take Zithromax? I did not know that! It is one of the few antibiotics I tolerate! It is great, you only take it once a day. Those others you have to take four times a day.

Dear Carla,

Skyline Chili sounds terrific! So does the ice cream and caramel sauce! You really do look like a kid in that pic! I kept thinking "Where is Carla?" HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

WTH??

I did not know this about Doxy....you cant take it during the summer??

When I was first getting sick and my face was totally burning from the neurotoxins...they stupidly diagnosed me with Rosacea and put me on high doses of Tetracycline. Yeah...what do you think that did to me??

Hint: It did not help.

Anyways...they said I couldnt go out in the sun...because the antibiotic makes you more susceptible to sunburn. Is that the case with Doxy as well?? Why is it that the antibiotic causes this?

I did go out in the sun while I was on Tetracycline and I didnt have any adverse reactions that I can recall.

happy birthday carla...

I was reading some lymenet posts over the weekend and read a post that reminded me of what you said regarding your lyme situation... saw the name was sixgoofykids and the location was ohio so I'm assuming that's you, right?

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Andrea....I read the link you posted.

I had read about the testing on rabbits in one of the posts on LymeNET.

I just cant believe I never knew any of this stuff was so toxic or harmful. It blows my mind.

On the one hand I sort of feel fortunate to be learning...so that I'm informed and dont end up causing more harm to myself down the road.

And then on the other hand I just want to put my hands over my ears and eyes and just walk around going "La -la-la-la-la-la-......I cant hear you...I cant see you....La-la-la-la"

Yeah...I just wanna block it all out and go back to normal when I didnt know anything and I wasnt sick...and I could eat all kinds of garbage...and I was just a normal fast food eating citizen who'd never heard of a neurotoxin.

Anyone else??

during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me

@catnapt,  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.   How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them.  Do you pressure cook your beans?  Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking?  Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production.  Do you have anemia?

oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st   worst 12 days of my life   Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔

Welcome to the forum @Known1, What reaction were you expecting? Pipingrock.com High Potency Vitamin D3, 2000 IU, 250 Quick Release Softgels $6.89 I've have been taking the 10,000 IU for close to 10 years. When I started with vitamin D I worked my way up to 10000 over several weeks.  Even at 8000 I felt no noticeable difference.  Then after a few days at 10000 it hit Whoa, sunshine in a bottle.  celiac disease causes malabsorption of dietary D and you've poor UV access.  It took me from 2015 to 2019 to get my 25(OH)D just to 47 ng/ml.  Another two years to get to 80.  70 to 100 ng/ml seems to be the body's natural upper homeostasis  based on lifeguard studies.  Dr. Holick has observed the average lifeguard population usually has a vitamin D 3 level of around 100 ng/ml. Could it be that our normal range is too low given the fact that ¾ or more of the American population is vitamin D deficient? Your Calcium will increase with the vitamin D so don't supplement calcium unless you really need it.  Monitor with PTH  and 25(OH)D tests. Because of your Marsh 3 damage you need to ingest way more than the RDA of any supplement to undo your specific deficiencies. I believe you are in the goiter belt.  Unless you have reason not to, I recommend pipingrock's Liquid Iodine for price and quality.  The RDA is 150 to 1100 mcg.  In Japan the safe upper level is set at 3000 mcg.  Start with one drop 50 mcg to test for adverse response and build up.  I found 600 mcg (12 drops) a day is helping repair my body.  Iodine is necessary to healing.  90% of daily iodine intake is excreted in urine.  A Urine Iodine Concentration (UIC) can tell how much Iodine you got that day.  The thyroid TSH test will not show iodine deficiency unless it is really bad.

I don't know if I am getting sufficient Omega Threes. I read about  phosphotidyl choline may cause heart issues. I will have o do further research on heathy Omega 3 supplements or from foods. Is there a blood test that can tell you everything level in your system such as Thiamine, Benfotiamine levels etc? Thanks
