Good morning everyone! I felt good all day yesterday and feel good this morning, too, except that I'm tired as I didn't sleep well last night.

I had that tequila and tonic two nights ago .... since the fatigue was gone the next day, I had some tonic water last night, too, but without the tequila. ;)

Kassandra, I hope things start looking up for you soon.

Ok i woke up with major malabsorption going on. Now my stomacj is in major pain and my Bm is yellow. What can be causing this. I did google it and it shows things like bacteria and giardia. All i know is im in major pain. Im thinking it might be time to do an full stool panel.

dlp252 Apprentice

Well I slept better last night, lol. Actually napped on the couch too. I hardly ever sleep good after napping.

I've been having terrible ear pain when I swallow for the last two days. Yesterday I finally took Tylenol all day and that seems to have knocked it back a bit.

Donna, good luck with the surgery!

...

I can't believe I go to Germany one week from today!! Woohoo! I don't know if you've been keeping up on LN .... the chatter about the Bionic is high ... it's the most read thread right now. I'm so excited since the lady who went over is now Lyme free.

Thanks! I haven't posted much about it, but I'm excited for your trip to Germany! I haven't been to LN in a long time so haven't seen the thread. Someone PM'd me over there, so I popped over to answer that, but didn't look at any threads.

Just to update everyone...my ferritin and iron is really low again, my hematologist called and told me I need Iron IV's this coming week (he wanted to do it last week, but I said no.) This is the one that 3 out of 4 patients go into anaphylactic shock. his nurse told me last year that 3 patients they gave it to almost didn't make it downstairs and next door to the ER because their reactions were so severe. She said they literally were giving them shots of epinepherine in the elevator so they'd make it to the ER.

...

So, that's whats been going on! Fun stuff for sure!!!

Yeah, that's definitely scarey stuff!!!

Donna, sounds like further food restrictions will be quite an adjustment. Why can this cause diabetes? With fat and carb restriction it will be challenging.

They'll be rerouting the pancreatic and bile ducts and taking a chunk out of my duodenum. He MAY take out the gallbladder if he sees any evidence of stones, and if they have to do the more drastic surgery, he'll definitely be removing the gallbladder, and possibly parts of my pancreas and stomach, etc. Any one of those things can mess with the bile/enzyme/processing stuff.

I think a full stook panel sounds like a really good plan!

Donna,

Do you get an surgery date this week?

I am ordering an full panel test today. I have to figure this out. I think i was actually healthier when i ate gluten lol.

They didn't say, but I suspect that I will by the end of the week. I left there around 3:30, so they probably didn't get an answer from the scheduling department even if they did call Friday. I figure they'll probably call tomorrow to schedule and I'll probably hear on Tuesday or Wednesday...but that's all MY guess, lol.

Thanks. There was an old thread resurrected and you had posted on that thread. Someone asked you a question and I mentioned that you didn't post there anymore, so I'd bet that PM was regarding amalgams, LOL!

I am very excited about Germany! Less than a week away! I guess if this Bionic works I might get to meet many of you ..... I'm sure you'll want to visit when I'm healthy ;) The Bionic is supposed to be good at moving out metals and other toxins, in addition to getting the Lyme.

This is very odd ... I've been feeling good lately (past two days) unless I EAT. When I eat it's not digestive issues, it's pain ... not in my stomach, but my back and shoulders. Why? I don't get it?

I am feeling better though and have gained back three pounds. I have not been eating more or less than before, the weight has come back just the same way it went away ... for absolutely no reason at all. I must be moving out the mold toxins to be feeling better. I'm not on the cholestyramine, it was killing me. I've been taking zeolite and chlorella.

Can you take an antihistamine? That sounds like some inflammation in the Eustachian tube...

:o Talk about scarey! My goodness. Donna I can see why this has captured your full attention lately. I will be hoping with you for the lesser invasive procedure.

Carla, that sounds good about the weight readjusting. Probably all of this is just detoxifying. Very weird about the pain in back and shoulders when you eat. I haven't a clue about that one unless it is referred pain?

I am really hoping the Bionic will be the answer for you and for many of us too.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Yeah, I don't know what it's all about ..... but it's normal pain for me, just odd it's only after I eat. Maybe I'm doing okay until I need energy to digest???

mftnchn Explorer

I wondered that too. Hmm, bile release with foods? Take more binders 1/2 hour before a meal?

CarlaB Enthusiast

What's that mean? Bile release? I mean, I know what bile is, but how would it cause pain? :) Toxins being released?

Carla,

I get the neck and back pain when I eat sometimes. Sometimes I think its *what* i eat, then other times I think its that my digestion is stressed even though I do not get the *normal* type symptoms. I have had the pain in the neck and back then it moved down to the intestines - and went away in the back (if that makes sense). So, I figured out it really was pain coming from digestion.

OR it could be you are moving things around when you eat - moving toxins through and that's why you feel it then.

Try seeing if there is certain food thats causing it or if its at every meal.

Wow, I am only taking 200 mg IM of glutathione a week. I am going to ask my LLMD about taking extra doses when I feel symptomatic.

Sherry,

Is there an scd diet without dairy? I thoughti seens someone talk about it, but i cant think now were i seen it posted lol.

Everyone,

I ordered an complete stool test. It was my birthday present to myself lol. I figured i would be doing it right around my birthday next week lol. This pain is really really bad, I think giving birth was so much less painful.

paula

CarlaB Enthusiast

Thanks, April. I don't think it's any particular food, I get this way if I eat any solid food. Mine doesn't move like yours does. If I eat a smoothie (even if I take supps with it) I'm okay. If it's anything solid, I get the pain.

I get it if I eat a piece of toast (Ezekiel Bread), so I was thinking, gluten since I've had that problem before ... but when I eat a berry stella at Starbucks, no pain. But pretty much any food gives me the pain .... other than the berry stella, rofl.

Paula,

The diet is highly specific to what each person can tolerate. The premise is when you heal enough to eat certain foods, then those foods are on the *okay* list because they don't hender digestion. Some people start very slow with minimal foods and slowly add things in.

I have been 95% no dairy for 2 years so I am used to eating that way. When I started the SCD the only dairy I would eat was the homemade yogurt. I haven't been completely strict on myself *yet*. I will be more into it when my son starts it with me. I just wanted to get the idea down before starting him on it.

So, if dairy is a problem right now, you can tailor it to your body type and do it without. Just start with the foods you "know" are okay for you.

mftnchn Explorer

Well, I just haven't found the culprit in terms of the return of symptoms for me, although I do think the almonds (the ones with stuff added) are a problem. I seem to be detoxing too, with a rash like acne but not quite the same, fatigue and fogginess. Not sure exactly what is going on, unless it is mold related. So I am going back to eating my moderate SCD approach. There is obvious GI symptoms in terms of constipation or abnormal BMs. Some bloating but that has been the case all along.

I also don't seem to have much response to taking more mag and C like I used to. :( I'm going to push it up a bit more and see what happens. I do have a liquid mineral mix I haven't been using so I think I'll add it in just in case the DMPS is getting rid of more than I am supplementing.

The symptoms typically aren't severe but the fatigue/fog has been bad enough to disrupt work a couple of days.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Sherry that is exactly the rash I would get. It's clearing up more now every day. I had it when I first was sick, then it went away a while. A few months ago it came back. I changed shampoos, etc. wondering what could be causing it. Finally, when I got rid of the bed, it started to clear up. I just have a few bumps left. They almost seem like pimples, but can't be popped.

AndreaB Contributor

Carla,

Can't wait to read about your trip. You'll let us know where you're blogging right? I don't know what to say about your pain though.

Paula,

Hope the stool test gives you some answers. :(

Donna,

I'm hoping for the absolute best, easiest scenario for you.

Sherry,

I'm wondering about mold with you too. Maybe if you're moving metals out some mold is being disturbed. I don't know what the mold shots have in them or what they do though......

CarlaB Enthusiast

I'll be sure to let you know, Andrea, I haven't decided where to keep the blog yet. I'm thinking about myspace, but I may also put it at a blog spot so people who don't have a myspace can get to it .... also so I can post where it is publicly.

I'm feeling pretty good again today. I've been off meds since getting rid of the bed, except for trying to get back on them for a few days. I should be going downhill as I haven't even been taking herbs and normally I'd start feeling bad by now, especially off babesia meds.

I have a head cold ... Adam has it, too. I'm constantly blowing my nose. Normally, my symptoms would flare during a cold especially off meds. I have had a couple times on meds when I was feeling good that my symptoms didn't flare, but I think it's significant that I'm off meds and herbs, have a cold and my symptoms are not flaring.

Even if I weren't going to Germany, I think that at this point, I would be taking only herbs. I just think I'm getting better. About 80-85% yesterday. I took two Advil late in the afternoon (after eating) .... but that's a significant improvement from taking Norco regularly ... plus, I usually take three Advil.

Well, I'll be busy today! I'm going to the gym, then getting cleaned up and spending the afternoon with Adam. :)

I guess I'd feel really good if I didn't have this cold!

Yes, it must be, lol. They asked about binders. Heck, if I have any body parts left after surgery I'd come, lol!

Can you take an antihistamine? That sounds like some inflammation in the Eustachian tube...

Hum, I guess I need to get some antihistamine...dumped my whole bottle on the floor of the airplane on my last trip to Las Vegas, lol. Yeah, funny thing is, I can almost predict when I am going to get it. I ate a whole lot of chocolate last week that had dairy, and I'm pretty sure that did it. It seems to happen any time I eat too much chocolate with dairy. I think my ear is my current "weak" spot.

I'm hoping for the absolute best, easiest scenario for you.

Thanks! :)

mftnchn Explorer
Sherry that is exactly the rash I would get. They almost seem like pimples, but can't be popped.

Yep exactly like that. I had it last year for awhile, and then again this summer when I first did SCD, and now again.

Andrea, I have been having the same thought. My mold shots are a tiny amount of the mold mixture, so it is like a mold exposure. This is the season that I have trouble with mold. And then suddenly the shot was too much so like an overload.

Another thing is that I would have had a greatly increased mold exposure and pollution exposure for the 2-3 years before my tick bite and my allergies were worsening along that time as well because that is when I moved to Asia to a very damp hot climate. I lived in that climate for more than 20 years and I know that the mold impacted me. So maybe I am finally detoxing? Maybe I couldn't detox before but things are opening up?

Do you think the mold could so upset my digestion though?

CarlaB Enthusiast
Do you think the mold could so upset my digestion though?

I was free from any digestive symptoms until I got rid of the mattress a couple weeks ago, so I do think mold detox can cause severe digestive issues. I still am feeling sick whenever I eat solid food. I think I'm going to have to go back to smoothies, lattes, etc.

Also, from what I've read, if you're mold toxic, mold allergy shots can be counter-productive. If you already have mold toxins in your system the allergy shots can be harmful. Open Original Shared Link

If you go to the bottom of that page, there is a return to menu option .... it's kinda hard to figure out where "home" is at that website.

Mold toxicity is often the end result with constant exposure to mold of a toxic substance. A common misconception among allergists who are untrained in this type of toxicity levels in humans, which is technically not their area of expertise unless they have trained specifically in environmental medicine with their background in immunology, is to do general allergen testing. Most tests usually result in an unequivocal result, a 2+ or less. This induces some physicians to order allergy shots, regardless. These shots are absolutely worthless (and could possibly be harmful) to a person who has been heavily exposed to these mycotoxins as they are already in a state of toxicity. If anything, this could exacerbate the problem. Because many doctors are not trained in this field, they may try to "guess" at a diagnosis.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."

Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
    • Scott Adams
The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.
