If this food toxin is making you patient, then yay!

I'd do the urine test, schedule for Dr P for after the 22nd and see the "voodoo" lady on the 22nd. I'm assuming a 2-3 week wait for the urine test results though.

Well, I'm still not getting overly excited and I'm still feeling patient....so I dont think it was a toxic food (not this time anyway :P ). Maybe I just have too much going on thats occupying my mind for the time being. There has been much "drama" at work lately.

I think my boss is trying to kill me with stress before I can start my treatments and get better. I might never get to have a Big Mac if he keeps this up! :o

Seriously though....I've had a couple "meltdowns" due to too much drama and stress. "M" has had to talk to my new boss a couple of times already about this......she is his "mentor" and one of the only people he will listen to. He always sits me down and apologizes and we make plans to move forward...but so far there have been episodes once or twice a week....so its been having a big impact on my health. I cant handle stress....and especially stress that is ongoing. :(

Alot of it is because of my friendship with "M"....since he is very close to her he sometimes feels its OK to take stuff out on me when he gets overly stressed. HELLO....I am "fragile" right now! My body cant handle it.

Even though I've got my "PINK" on....apparantly its not enough to keep my body strong during these episodes. *sigh*

"V" was also worried about me having too much stress and apparantly called to talk to my boss about it today (they know each other)...which I thought was sweet.

I'd do the urine test, schedule for Dr P for after the 22nd and see the "voodoo" lady on the 22nd. I'm assuming a 2-3 week wait for the urine test results though.

I did the urine test this morning and dropped it off at the post office a little while ago. :)

I'm totally confused about the shipping though.

The nurse had said that it would cost around $80.....but I mailed it for $2.20.:unsure:

On the form it said that it could take anywhere from 3-15 days to get to France.

Maybe if I had used something other than US airmail it would have gotten there faster and in that case it would have been much more expensive. The postal clerk was fascinated by the whole thing because he'd never seen anything like it.

I'm kind of worried my sample is gonna take like a month to get to France.....if it gets there at all! :o

So yeah...I'm REALLY gonna have to exercise my patience if I wanna wait till these results are back before I go in to see Dr. P. OMG....I hope I can wait that long!

I will be seeing the voodoo lady (Dr. T.) on Wed. :D

pics on myspace :)

Do I need to have Myspace...in order to go to Myspace??

Yup...I might be the only one left without a myspace.

Great pics Carla!!!

I wanna seeeeeeee!!!!

Rachel,

Since you aren't feeling rushed, I would go ahead with the original plan. That way he'll have all the information in front of him before starting treatment.

April,

Thats what I really want to do....I just want to have everything done and out of the way....and not still have test results that we're "waiting on" when I see him. I guess I totally blew it by waiting so long to do the urine test (which took only seconds) and now its gonna be awhile till my sample makes its way to France. Its got a long journey till it gets to the lab. :(

It could be he forgot about your plan ?? The nurse should have been more specific that he was changing the plan due to test results. Thats what makes me think maybe he forgot or just thought maybe he was waiting on the test results or something like that.

I seriously doubt that he forgot about the voodoo lady. From what I could tell he's pretty organized and on top of things.....and the voodoo lady was one of the #1 things he wanted me to do. He has all of the info together....including a copy of the stuff he wanted her to check (methylation, viruses, etc.).

Last time I saw him he wasnt sure yet what we would be treating because he wasnt 100% certain that there was a block in the methylation cycle and he was still very much wanting to know how much of an issue virus and Lyme might be. All of the tests are focusing on these things.....but the only ones he's gotten back are the genetic/methylation ones...so its just wierd that he's mentioning treatment now.

I dont want to make any assumptions and try to guess at what it might mean....I kind of want to wait until everything's back before finding out if anything showed up in those tests. My friends think the only reason he would say something about treatment is if he has an idea of what needs to be treated......but I only spoke with the nurse and I dont want to jump to conclusions and then be disappointed later on. Thats why I'm just gonna "chill" and follow through with the plan. :)

I think he would still want me to follow through with seeing the other doctor and he might know that my appt. is scheduled this coming Wed. As far as that goes I dont think anythings changed....but if he did "see" something in those results he might be more anxious for me to complete the urine test so that he can get a better picture. I dont know......but I do think that he would be excited and ready to get things moving if he saw something that would require definate treatment.

Remember....this is the same guy that pumped his fists in the air and said that he couldnt WAIT for these test results to come back.

You could call the nurse back and ask her if he has changed his mind due to some of the test results he has so far. It will be very interesting to see what showed up.

In fact...I am anxious to SEE!!!

Me too!! I'm definately curious. I'm not sure why I dont want to call and get more details....but for some reason I feel like waiting till I get the rest taken care of first.

In the past I've NEEDED to know things right away....but maybe now I'm just afraid of being disappointed. I dont know...

Rachel,

Are you sure the urine test will be ok taking that long in transit? I assumed it had to be overnighted, hence the astronomical shipping quote.

I trust "M" will get things straightened out with the boss. That's awful that he's being so dense about your health! If you start calling in sick alot maybe it will get through to him.

I hope it will be ok....but I'm gonna call the nurses on Monday to check on this. I dont want to wait a few weeks only to find out the sample is no good.

On the form it didnt say anything about refridgerating the sample....and it mentioned that it could take 3-15 days to get to the lab...so I just assumed it would be ok. It just doesnt seem right to me though.

I was expecting to pay $80....and I only paid $2.20!

Yeah....it always gets straightened out but just having to go through it is really draining on me. :(

I just dont like ups and downs.....I want a peaceful and stable environment when I'm at work.

He is seriously dense about my health....he totally doesnt get it. Today he was saying that he doesnt want to be the root of my stress....and the most important thing is my health...but he just never follows through with what he says. He says he sometimes thinks that I can handle anything....like I'm "wonderwoman" and he just forgets that I'm not healthy.

I have tried soooooo hard to just have a good relationship with him because it means alot to M....and she wants me to be patient and forgiving because he is new and still getting used to things. In the meantime my health is suffering though. :(

Alot of people dont think of me as being "sick" because everything thats going on is on the "inside". I can feel it but nobody can see any sign of whats going on. Of course the people close to me know.....and they understand. My boss definately knows all about it....but he's not taking it seriously.

My mom's MIL was over for dinner a couple weeks ago and she asked how I was doing. My mom told her that I'm doing ok...that I'm hanging in there. The lady said "Well she sure LOOKS good....she doesnt LOOK sick at all."

I definately dont want to look sick....but at the same time it can be hard for people to take it seriously when they dont look at me and see anything wrong. On the inside I'm still really messed up though. :(

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I cant eat any kind of lunch meat, it makes me sick like the turkey lol.

Paula,

This could be due to amines, nitrates, MSG, sulfites....or a combination of everything.

The surgery is a week from Monday.

Donna,

Hope you feel better soon and I'll definately be thinking of you on Monday.

Rachel...

What type of magnesium sulfate cream do you use? Do you make it yourself or do you buy it?

I would like to get some.

I just bought epsom salts at the store and melted it in water and rubbed it in on my calfs, and forearms.

I have a salty coating on me!

I've covered myself in the epsom salts....so much that I left a trail all over the house.

I guess I racheled the salts.

It irritates my skin and for whatever reason I just seem to respond better to the cream. The only reason I could think of is that when taking the baths I was soaking in the water as long as possible...and the water has chlorine and who knows what else in it.

I dont make my own because I dont think I'd tolerate some of the stuff they use in the homemade cream....like coconut butter. I've been using Kirkman's for several months now without any problems. I try to remember to apply it around every 4-6 hours.

Open Original Shared Link

Carl buddigs stuff gives me the worst reactions of everything, which must be due to the yeast, right.

If it contains "yeast extract".....that would be MSG. I would assume in this case the reaction may be because of the MSG.

On monday I am going on rachels diet of grass fed beef and peas lol

Gaaaaawd.....I dont wish this on anyone.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I have one thought about the call I got from the nurse...saying the doc wanted the urine test completed so we could talk about results and treatment.

When we looked at the results of my previous test (the urine amino acid test) it looked like my pathway was functioning fine. All of the amino acids involved in sulfation were within normal range. At the same time...looking at the results of the OAT...there is some indication of impaired methylation.

When we were looking at the map of the methylation cycle he was pointing to 2 areas in the cycle that could be problems. This is why he ordered additional testing. He pointed to one area of the cycle and said that "if there is a block right here....it can be caused by a virus".

This is why he also ordered the urine test. It would give him an indication of whether or not I have inflammation caused by a low level viral infection.

So I'm wondering if the bloodwork showed that something is not right in that part of the methylation cycle.....and if he's looking at that and wondering if a virus is causing it....and wanting to get the results of the urine test to see how that looks.

Thats my only theory.

Good GAWD, lol...I keep saying Monday...Surgery is a week from TUESDAY, lol. I just know I'm going to show up on the wrong day, lol!

I have to go pre-register on Thursday.

That should be fun.

At least I won't have to do it on the morning of the surgery when I'm weak from not having eaten for 36 hours. :P

And, if this STUPID nose doesn't clear up soon, I'm sure they won't want to do the surgery. I am MORE stuffed up today than I have been all week! Grrr!

I will know everything she finds on Wednesday......woo-hoo!

Donna,

Hope your nose clears up real soon. Do you have airborne allergies that bother you this time of year.....on top of the foods that could contribute to this........or do you think it's a cold?

Rachel,

Can't wait to hear about your appointment. Hard to believe it's almost here already!

Paula,

Glad you got the stool test figured out with the lab.

Well, it really doesn't seem like a cold...at least not like any cold I've had before. It could be allergies...I suspect the mold is really high right now...we're having freaky weather...it's cold cold cold, then it's really warm, now it's cold again. In addition to having mold toxicity, I do have an allergy to it, so the mold spores in the air can get me too. I think it wouldn't have if other factors hadn't been adding to it. I really haven't had any allergy symptoms for two years, except when I eat too much dairy.

tabasco32 Apprentice

Hey Rach, I asked my mom about the urine test thing and she said that the lab that takes urine samples where she mails them off to won't take them after 3 days. There mostly for bacteria or UTI's and stuff or STD's. So maybe it won't be good in three days. I don't know.

Maybe that's why shipping is going to be so expensive. For the overnight or next day service.

Could be. I was having my worst symptoms in the fall and thought it was weeds but my allergist said it was most likely to be mold.

I wonder if it is possible that you are less mold toxic so now your allergy is showing up more??

Already??

Me and my friend were saying it seems like its taken a whole freakin year for this appt. to get here.

I guess neither of us are very patient. :P

Now I just have to find out where her office is before Wednesday. You think I could have done this sometime in the past YEAR that I've been waiting to see her...but nooooooo.....of course I have to wait till the last minute for EVERYTHING.

Its not for any bacteria or anything so I'm not really sure. The instructions said if you ship the urine US airmail it can take 3-15 days to get to the lab. So I figure if they didnt say it needed to be overnighted then its ok....there were no ice packs or anything to keep it cool....just a regular padded envelope. It only said that the sample could not be exposed to light.

I'm sure my doctor would have preferred it be overnighted cuz now we'll be waiting forever....but I dont know if its necessary. I'm gonna call the nurses tomorrow to double check.

I guess if its no good after 3 days......my sample just expired today.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Ok.....I think by the time I see Dr. P. I will have hundreds of questions. My mind is very busy the last couple days. Poor guy...lucky for him he only has to see me for an hour.

In other news...I walked straight into a door frame this morning.

It was full-on contact....major ouchness. :(

I thought I might end up with a black eye but I guess I lucked out...its just really tender and sore.

AndreaB Contributor

Ouch Rachel! :o

Do you have an appointment with Dr P yet?

No, I havent scheduled it yet because I dont know how long until we get the results of the urine test. Thats another thing I'm going to ask the nurses about tomorrow.

Just a quick drive by...

About the iron, it has been determined (this is mainly to Jin...) that I do not have hemolytic anemia. Been tested many times and I don't have it. It's basic tests that would reveal it, and they're fine.

I see my hematologist on Wednesday morning and he is going to re-test my blood/iron levels and we will decide whether I still need the iron IV's. I have been taking oral iron, so we're hoping it is absorbing. If it's not, then I'll have to do IV steroids and Iron. <_<

As for how I've been feeling...I've been doing GREAT! I registered for my GED and a CPR/First Aid class with the Red Cross. I am looking for a part time nannying job and have already had 2 interviews (started looking last Wednesday). There is a job that will pay $25 an hour and they're interested in me!!!! :o I'm only looking at about 20 hours a week and depending on the kids ages, it might be more, might be less.

I'm also going to take a cake decorating class because I've been wanting to do that for a long time now, but was too sick or too busy to do it before...now I can do it! :):P

Overall everything is going really well in my life. I've been so fortunate that all of my hard emotional work has brought a lot of mental healing which has led to a TON of physical healing. I finally can say that I TRULY do NOT want to be sick. I don't read anything about health stuff anymore except I come on here maybe 1-2x/week. I went to a big Gala on Saturday night in Beverly Hills and it was amazing to be able to talk about things other than my health and all that stuff.

:)

mftnchn Explorer

Hi Kassandra! What wonderful news!!!! I'm thrilled with your progress and you've taught us all a good lesson again about making sure we deal with our emotional stuff.

Are you still doing IV treatments?

Sherry

AndreaB Contributor

Wow Kassandra! :D

So good to hear that you are feeling so much better and getting back into a teenager's life again.

confusedks Enthusiast
Hi Kassandra!

Are you still doing IV treatments?

Yes I am. I am hoping to get off them soon though.

mftnchn Explorer

Well, even if you have to keep on, it sounds like all of your investment in healing is paying off. Sure hope your iron numbers are not further dropped and that you are absorbing some of the oral iron now. Will look forward to your next update, which your social life allows, LOL!

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @JudyLou! There are a couple of things you might consider to help you in your decision that would not require you to do a gluten challenge. The first, that is if you have not had this test run already, is to request a "total IGA" test to be run. One of the reasons that celiac blood antibody tests can be negative, apart from not having celiac disease, that is, is because of IGA deficiency. If a person is IGA deficient, they will not respond accurately to the celiac disease blood antibody tests (such as the commonly run TTG-IGA). The total IGA test is designed to check for IGA deficiency. The total IGA test is not a celiac antibody test so I wouldn't think that a gluten challenge is necessary. The second is to have genetic testing done to determine if you have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease. About 30-40% of  the general population have the genetic potential but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease but it can be used to rule it out. Those who don't have the genetic potential but still have reaction to gluten would not be diagnosed with celiac disease but with NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity).  Another possibility is that you do have celiac disease but are in remission. We do see this but often it doesn't last.

Hi there, I’m debating whether to consider a gluten challenge and I’m hoping someone here can help with that decision (so far, none of the doctors have been helpful). I have a history of breaking out in a horrible, burning/itchy somewhat blistering rash about every 8 years. This started when I was in my early 30’s and at that point it started at the ankles and went about to my knees. Every time I had the rash it would cover more of my body, so my arms and part of my torso were impacted as well, and it was always symmetrical. First I was told it was an allergic reaction to a bug bite. Next I was told it was eczema (after a biopsy of the lesion - not the skin near the lesion) and given a steroid injection (didn’t help). I took myself off of gluten about 3 weeks before seeing an allergist, just to see if it would help (it didn’t in that time period). He thought the rash looked like dermatitis herpetiformis and told me to eat some bread the night before my blood tests, which I did, and the tests came back negative. I’ve since learned from this forum that I needed to be eating gluten daily for at least a month in order to get an accurate test result. I’m grateful to the allergist as he found that 5 mg of doxepin daily will eliminate the rash within about 10 days (previously it lasted for months whether I was eating gluten or not). I have been gluten free for about 25 years as a precaution and recommendation from my doctor, and the pattern of breaking out every 8 years or so remains the same except once I broke out after just one year (was not glutened as far as I know), and now it’s been over 9 years. What’s confusing to me, is that there have been 3 times in the past 2 years when I’ve accidentally eaten gluten, and I haven’t had any reaction at all. Once someone made pancakes (they said they were gluten-free, they were not) and I ate several. I need to decide whether to do a gluten challenge and get another blood test. If I do, are these tests really accurate? I’m also concerned that I could damage my gut in that process if I do have celiac disease. My brother and cousin both had lymphoma so that’s a concern regarding a challenge as well, though there is a lot of cancer in various forms in my family so there may be no gluten connection there. Sorry for the ramble, I’m just doubting the need to remain gluten free if I don’t have any reaction to eating it and haven’t had a positive test (other than testing positive for one of the genes, though it sounds like that’s pretty common). I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.
    • Scott Adams
I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.
    • Jmartes71
I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers
