 and just for Mia....as the BioSET Turns...

Well, I told you all I DIDN'T have a BioSET appointment today, which was true, until this morning, lol.

I'm glad you got to have an appointment today. That's to bad about the molds. Hopefully they'll not be outright next time.

April's not that far away for an ART session. :)

Uh oh. I guess you figured he'd find you eventually.

Hope your workout goes smoothly and you'll be back to resting soon. :)

Yes, but I guess I was hoping he was a little more engrossed in his computer game he was playing with our son. :P We went to the gym to lift weights. We do three sets of each exercise ... during the fourth exercise I was sitting down to rest between sets and he looked at me and said I looked delirious. I was. So, we left.

We ended up taking the kids to the movies, along with a couple of their friends, then we ate dinner out. Now, I finally get to rest again. I must be having a die-off in my brain of either the Lyme stuff or the brain cells!

My mind is really bad. There's an automatic machine to buy the movie tickets, you should have seen me trying to buy them for some kids who were under 12, others who weren't, and for a different movie for Adam, me and our oldest son.:lol: At one point I had it marked to have three senior tickets! the kids friends were like this  .

Dear Rachel,

Thanks for your input on the Babesia. It is a new concept to me. As for your situation, I am with Carla, that sounds a lot like Malaria's symptoms or something like it. My grandfather had it from being in the jungle during WWII. My grandmother told me about it. His symptoms were so bad, they had to change his clothes and stuff practically every hour! It causes excessive sweating.

New Word For the Rachelville Dictionary: Rachelize

Example: We know how to Rachelize our comments now. ;)

Dear Carla,

The sweats can be difficult to deal with. My situation is that I always have been like this, really. I had strong body odor even when I was a girl. I began wearing deoderant at 9 years old! My Thyroid is messed up, too. The problem is, I cannot afford to get it tested right now. The same with my hormones.

My Dad wanted to get the Enterolab testing done, but cannot due to recent expenses. The housepayment and home equity is a big chunk of money. If they did not have that, it would not be so bad. Dad really is trying to understand this, but my mother is convinced I am a hypochondriac. She has always been convinced that. She says that as she eats gluten and gets sick, and eats dairy and gets sick.

I am out of sympathy and understanding. I am done being disrespected. There is also the issue that she feels we cannot afford make-up for me to wear on the rare occaisions I do go out, but she can eat out and go to the movies! Then, they go out and cannot even remember my gum!? Then I am a brat because I am angry about it. Talk about crap.

Dear Mia,

A reunion would be awesome! I hear Oregon has really pure air! I know that Accu-Flora is made in Vancouver, WA. I was surprised. Hopefully, your situation will improve a bit too!

Dear Lisa,

I heard you need to be careful about gluten in gloves. I read that it can cause problems at the dentist's office. I do not know about elsewhere. The dentist is the only place you really would have to worry about that, I would think. Perhaps the doctor's office as well could be a concern, if they are not familiar with your case.

Dear All,

I got rid of the dairy for a few days. Then I went back on it. I ate pudding cups. They were good. I have done this for a few days, and so far so good. Maybe the bacterial dysbiosis from the Flagyl was the main difficulty.

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

Would "Rachelizing" something be a good thing or a bad thing??

OMG....I'm totally "lost" like that on a bad day. I cant get my thoughts organized and my brain gets "stuck".

The most simple thing can get confusing as heck.

What movie did you see?? I LOVE the movies. :D

Last weekend I saw "Zodiac"....it was a good movie.

I told my friend to get a small bag of popcorn.....that I might want to eat a few.

I ended up eating more than a few but I was soooo disapointed. I had anticipated tasting that

"movie theater popcorn" that I LOVE (and havent had in forever)...instead it was kettle corn.

I asked my friend why the popcorn tasted "funny"...they were like "Its Kettle Corn....isnt that what you wanted??"

WTH??

Has it been that long since I've been able to eat popcorn at the movies?? Now they have different kinds of popcorn?? I just pointed to the popcorn...thinking they were all the same.

I dont like kettle corn very much. :(

CarlaB Enthusiast

The little kids went to Bridge to Terabithia (there were two 13 year olds in the group), and Adam, Luke and I went to 300. The idea in the beginning was to take Luke to 300, then we decided to take everyone ... that's why two different movies, we normally don't do that. 300 is a guy's movie, though I think a woman might have decided on the costumes for the men to wear ;):lol: . All these hunky, ripped men with little clothing on! But, it was still a guy's movie ... it was about a battle.

We saw that Drew Barrymore/Hugh Grant movie, something about Music and Lyrics, but can't remember the title ... great flick! Adam even liked it.

Our theater only has regular popcorn. I love Kettle corn, so I'm glad they don't have it since it's loaded with sugar. I had a big tub of popcorn today! I brought a Propel in with me since I can't have the soda right now ... Propel only has 2 grams of sugar, so you get the taste of something without all the sugar.

We see a movie almost every weekend. :P We've always gone out on "date night" on Friday nights, and movies are about the only thing I'm up to doing right now. The past few weeks I haven't even been up to that, though, so it had been a couple weeks since I had seen one.

I LOVE the movies, too. I haven't seen Zodiac.

NGG,

I think Carla was saying that Malaria and Babesia are similar.....and that some of the treatments used for Malaria are also used for Babesia.

I dont think she was suggesting I have Malaria though??

GREAT....yet another thing to ponder.

J/K....I dont think I have Malaria. :P

I wont worry about it just yet....I'll save that one for later. ;)

The excessive sweating caused by Malaria is due to fevers. People get high fevers and then as the body temp goes down they sweat excessively.

Thats about the one symptom I dont get....fevers...I'm pretty much fever-less. :)

Right. Both babesia and malaria are caused by a protozoa. It's common to use artemisia annua, a Chinese anti-malarial herb, for babesia because of their similarities.

Thats the movie I wanted to see!! :o

I like romantic comedy's the best and I also love Drew Barrymore.

My friend had already seen it though. :(

Oh....some guy at my work was telling me I should go see 300. I had no idea what it was about.

I asked my friend if we should go see it. My friend said "You would HATE that movie....its a guy movie and its a battle movie....all kinds of killing and stuff."

Yup...I think I would hate it. :P

Actually.....it might have a good plot....a girl I know saw it and liked it. If its got a real good story I tend to get into it....I liked "Gladiator" (with Russelle Crow) and "Troy" wasnt bad either.

I would only see it as a last resort.....like if everything else was sold out or something.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Wasn't Rinne asking about night sweats?

Yeah....Rinne brought up nightsweats and we all shared our "sweating" stories. Rinne was wanting to know what causes them and why they happen at night...why not during the day??

CarlaB Enthusiast

300 was pretty strictly a battle. Some plot, but not like Gladiator (I didn't see Troy). It was mostly just battle, but it's a true story about the Spartans, 300 of them, going up against a much bigger army. The 300 actually killed 5000 of the other army's men. You might like it if you like seeing 300 hunky men with no shirts on. :P

I like romantic comedies, too.

I'd like to see that new Sandra Bullock movie, Premonition. Looks interesting.

CarlaB Enthusiast
Yeah....Rinne brought up nightsweats and we all shared our "sweating" stories. Rinne was wanting to know what causes them and why they happen at night...why not during the day??

Well, at night I kick the covers off and cool right off, but I don't realize how hot I am until I'm drenched (I actually think it happens quickly, I would think I would wake up if I was really that hot for a long time). During the day, when I get hot, I don't wait till I start sweating to do something to cool off.

I wonder if that's why we don't have day sweats???

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I love Kettle corn, so I'm glad they don't have it since it's loaded with sugar.

Yeah....go figure! The one time I decide to indulge a tiny bit....I end up with sugary popcorn.

I'm sure the candida was loving it....even if I wasnt.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I wonder if that's why we don't have day sweats???

I dunno. I kind of doubt it because when I was getting day sweats it didnt matter if I went into the freezer or splashed water on my face...or got half naked.

The sweat was coming off me no matter what.

Yeah....this ones looks intriguing. I definately wouldnt have liked 300 with all battle and no story to at least keep me somewhat entertained. Even the 300 shirtless guys wouldnt have made me want to suffer through it. :P

Donna,

BOO for molds!!

BOO-HOO for getting multiple mold treatments! :(

Stupid mold!

Yeah...we are in the moldy girls club.....this is a club I dont want to stay in. <_<

I hope I can abandon the fungus ASAP.

Check this out!!

I got home and my cat had barfed on the carpet.....which is always such a treat to come home to.

It was his food that he barfed up and they were whole.....apparantly he doesnt chew at all??

Anyways....when I went to pick it up underneath the food was completely black with MOLD!!! :o

I've never seen anything like this and my cat has puked a gazzilion times in his 13 years. The carpet was BLACK. I totally freaked out.

Not only was I staring at black mold but my light grey carpet was coated with it!!

I didnt even get a mask or anything....I just started cleaning it up. It didnt seem like it would come clean but thankfully its about 98% better.

Is this normal?? Like if my cat barfed earlier in the week and it was moist....could it just grow mold like that??

I wonder why this time and never before?? <_<

I'm all freaked out about it. I still dont get how that could happen.

Surprisingly, I did not notice a worsening of symptoms as I cleaned it up. It was definately mold though.

Donna,

Thats great that you got to meet Scott and discuss ART with him. Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to have a session with him next month!

Night sweats are from babesia. I don't know why they are only in the night, but I get them, too. I'll wake up completely DRENCHED, like I've been in the sauna for 30 minutes.

You can buy Artemisia Annua off the internet. It's an herb for babs. You have to get rid of the babesia first because it's a protozoa and the borrelia can live inside it. My LLMD diagnosed me with babesia mainly because of the night sweats in the absence of any other signs of menopause (cycles are regular). I don't get the sweats during the day, but I do get hot when no one else is.

Do you have the book Healing Lyme? It's an herbal protocol. I have it ... I'll probably switch over to something like that once I get it under control. My LLMD also has herbal protocols, but he really thinks I need to get the bacterial load down before I can get on it. He's actually a holistic doc, which I like because that's how I think about health. Once I'm healthy, I think it will be a good idea to use supplements to stay that way!

I've thought about the artimisia but just haven't got round to it, no night sweats last night so it could be menopausal. I do have Stephen Buhner's book, I think it is quite good.

I am questioning my diagnosis. I really wonder whether or not mercury and candida are more my problems at this time than Lyme. I also had a filling break about three years ago and may have swallowed some of it, in fact I pretty much think I did though I wish I didn't. Anyways it was the winter before that that I had the tick rash and I think the mercury just took me down. I've been taking the chlorella for two weeks now and am noticing an improvement but then I am doing so much to lean in the direction of health that it is difficult to pinpoint just one thing and say it is what is doing it. I took the Samento for four months and did not see a signifigant change but then I got well enough to be willing to experiment and that in itself is a real leap forward. I'm not sitting round pulling the skin away from my torso because of the pain and I haven't been doing that for a while. I've also heard that taking Samento for too long can lead to the Lyme retreating to a cyst form.

I LIKE silliness once in a while!! I miss Susan's contribution to the thread ... I'd send the dingos out after her if she hadn't taken them with her!

Those parties were such fun, remember Floridian getting "spinached".

Yeah....I loved Susans posts. :)

Personally, I loved it when the thread had the "pajama party" feel to it. I think we all know what that led to....up to 20 pages a day!!

Yeah Rachelville. :)

Some people want alot of goofiness with minimal scientificness and others want alot of scientificness and minimal goofiness. I prefer a mixture of both but I dont know if thats obtainable. A few pages of silliness and next thing you know the whole thread is moved to the Gab/Chat forum because someone complained.

Things change, it is incredible that this thread continues, thank you Rachel,Andrea, Carla and Donna and everyone else for all the coming and going.

That would be a good thing though...right??

Rachel rachelling restraint.

Thanks to all for the info about night sweats.

Dear Rachel,

Rachelizing is a good thing! As far as the Babesia goes, I meant I agree with Carla that it could still be it. Sorry I was not more clear! Lyme brain maybe, you know! Anywho, that was weird about your kitty. The mold may not have bothered you if it is one type you are not sensitive to. It is sort of like people who cannot tolerate penicillin but can eat mushrooms. All fungi are not equal.

Dear Carla,

My parents saw Premonition. They said it was very good, despite lousy reviews. Let's face it, if Julian Macmahon played a hemorrhoid, I would watch it! Also, this applies to Keanu Reeves and George Clooney. :P

I am so glad you typed in the name of that herb! I wondered about that. I recall seeing it somewhere while doing research. It is part of ancient Chinese medicine. I need to look that up again and see the common name.

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

I am questioning my diagnosis. I really wonder whether or not mercury and candida are more my problems at this time than Lyme.

Rinne....questioning stuff is something I'm really familiar with. ;)

I can relate to you there. I'm not sure if its swallowing the filling or the fact that whats left in your mouth isnt intact and most likely leaking higher amounts of mercury. I think it would be the latter which would be more damaging in the long run.

I left mine alone for 2 years....maybe during that time I was becoming toxic and then the dental work pushed me over the edge.

If I say to my Dr.'s that the dental work got me sick....they will correct me everytime and say "No...you were already well on your way and the dental work was the straw that broke the camels back." They will never say that this one event can cause such damage.

I agree with them now and can see that something was up before the dental work but instead of that underlying issue being Lyme....I think it could just as easily of been broken and leaky fillings slowly poisoning me....once I got alot of exposure from the dentist's ignorance....it was too much for my body to cope with. Big time neurotoxin poisoning.

Plus there were plenty of other neurotoxins my body had to deal with from my diet alone....and then the cigarettes on top of that. :(

Its good to be open to different possibilities when trying to figure this stuff out...the fact that the chlorella is making a difference is definately pointing to heavy metals but you already knew this with having high mercury show up in your test. ;)

Its really hard to pinpoint what is causing what...with both mercury and lyme having the same symptomology and also the fact that with Lyme you usually have greater difficulty detoxifying all other toxins.

I guess I am relying on ART to put the focus where it needs to be....I dont know of any other test that can indentify the problems as well as prioritize them. I'm hoping all that I've heard about this method proves to be true.

I think you should follow your gut Rinne and do what feels "right"....do what works for you and I'm sure the answers will start falling into place.

I'm not sure but it seems plausible to me. I've had cats in the past and I've never had that problem, although we've not been gone through the week.

Hopefully you'll be ok with the cleanup and all.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
