I work for a beverage industry trade publication and website and we were alerted that as of June 2nd 2006 Beverages Direct is now stocking New Grist Session Lager for sale online. They will ship to the lower 48 states. It is currently priced at $32.99 for a 12-pack. Shipping rate is $10.00 to $12.50 via UPS ground and is specially packaged to avoid broken bottles. Like any gluten-free product it's expensive but it's another avenue for online purchases.

I talked yesterday with one of the owners and was told that New Grist will be in southern Calif by mid month and Northern Calif. by end of month. They were meeting with Wild Oats about the distribution in all of their stores and subsideries within a month, which means that my Henry's Market here in Arizona could have the beer by July. It tastes like real beer. My husband asks why I want this beer so much when I don't even like beer. I told him that I can't have a wine cooler when it is hot and so I am going to start drinking beer .

OH, AND FOR THOSE WITH CORN ALERGIES - there is no corn in New Grist.

I bought some the other day at my liquor store. Keep in mind I have never been a beer drinker. The non celiacs didn't like it. My dh thought it was to much like water. I kinda liked it though. It is a very light tasting beer. I think it will work great for my beer can chicken and if you are doing brats. Happy drinking I wonder what will be the next gluten-free product!

I bought New Grist at Whole Foods and it was better than I was expecting. It is a very light, pale ale and more carbonation than gluten beer. Now if they can make a gluten free brown ale, bock and stout I will be very happy.
