So im trying to figure out whats going on but my doctor looked at me like im crazy, basically it keeps feeling and sounding like im passing gas, but instead of coming from my rectum its coming from inside of me like close to the rectum or my left side, it literaly feels like im passing gas but its inside of me, anyone know about this??

also the farther i get into this diet the more i think maybe the doctor missed somethign to test for and maybe the one thing that makes him think im gluten sensative (subsaren folds in small intestine) may be caused by something else, as everything is back to how it was im no longer a 4 on the poop scale and am back down to a 2 with mucus, all the healing i had come along with has reverted, i know you all say it can take time but when there is no evedince of healing anymore it really makes me feel unsertain that this is doing anything for me besides making me depressed. my stomic hurts and i feel like im going to throw up all day long lately. i have isolated anything that may contain gluten and i know for a fact that im doing nothing wrong i wont even go out to eat as much as my girlfriend wants to and i just keep cooking my own meals so i know thats safe, all my house prodcuts are safe and same with persnol care products

also what causes canker sores, i have a white little bump on the inside of my lip and it really hurts

[i've been gluten-free for 2 months, and have had similar ups and then downs...I've had the same "kind of like gas experience). I've finally given up trying to figure it all out and chalking it up to the healing process - it's really helped my peace of mind. My gas production seems to have increased since going gluten-free. Go figure!

Celiac can cause canker sores. And gosh are they painful. I hope it goes away for you quickly.

As far as the gas-like thing you describe. I used to get that all the time. I still do sometimes. I think it's pretty normal.

Has your doctor checked you for other intolerances? Other intolerances can impede your progress immensly.

Lister Rising Star

nope not sure how to check. hes trying to do anything he can without using money as he already racked me up 3k in bills since i dont have insurance, and i dont seem to have a problem with anything besides dairy but from what i read that may go away with time

canker sore acually already went away, only lasted about 7 hours

Lister does your girlfreind wear lipsticks or glosses? Does she wear makeup, or use lotions in places you like to get close to?

Lister Rising Star

yeah but she already went to this site and reaserched her makeup and gloss's, everything she uses is either avon or blistex made, and everything is gluten-free

Keep in mind that since she isn't gluten-free, her makeup isn't either, especially lip glosses. For example, she eats a big gluteny slice of pizza, and then puts on her blistex and gluten gets into her lip gloss. Just a thought. I had issues with old chapstick after going gluten-free.

The canker sore you had was probably an allergic reaction to something, since it only lasted 7 hours. I'm allergic to tree nuts and get a rash on the inside of my mouth from it that lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

As far as that gassy feeling, I get that too and I normally attribute it to bowel contractions and noises.

I know it sucks so far, but give it time and it will get better! About a month in I felt great, and then I started being worse off than I was before, but I got better again.

I often experience the same gas stuff

Lister Rising Star

i was wrong about the caker sore, i just happend to pop the head with my teeth and did not notice i still got it, trying not to fiddle it with my tounge

Guhlia Rising Star

Is Orajel gluten free? If so, that may give you temporary relief. I have a prescription from my doctor for some barrier steroid cream. I get ulcers all the time when I get glutened. It's miserable!!!

Lister Rising Star

does the steroid cream also work for caker sores?

Guhlia Rising Star

I'm not sure how big of a difference there actually is between canker sores and ulcers. I always thought they were kind of the same thing. I'm sure it would, but you'd have to ask your doctor. It works really well. It tastes horrible though, so if he prescribes you something, make sure it doesn't touch your tongue until it dries. Eck... I made that mistake once.

Lister Rising Star

i thought a ulcer was a bleeding inside of you???

talked to my doctro about my stomic grumbles that i get if i dont eat every 40 minutes he says im starving myself and my body is going to starvation mode, i explained that i literaly eat every 40 minutes and he said it does not matter your body is going into starvation mode well wtfam i suppsoed to do lol

Guest nini

I guess you might have to snack constantly! It's called "grazing"... just keep picking at snacky stuff all day, if you want to have a meal meal, eat til you are feeling full

Guest Robbin

Lister, I get canker sores, sore throat and mouth rashes from dairy products. My son gets mouth sores from anything he is allergic to. Maybe you should keep a food journal and write down everything you eat including all the ingredients in the food, then record your symptoms. Try not to eat new things until you get to the bottom of it. It could be one of the common allergy- causing foods (nuts, soy, corn, dairy, eggs). I know this sounds like a broken record, but it could also be the healing process or hidden gluten. I was sicker feeling sometimes than before I cut out gluten for the first couple of months. The gluten seems to slowly "work its way out" like some weird alien!!! Take care and keep us posted.

Lister Rising Star

i think the canker sore was just random, i used to get them alot as a kid have not had one for a very long time, its in the worst spot right infront of my front teeth, so i keep rubbing it with my teeth ripping it open so its gonna take a bit for it to heal, i dont think it had anything to do with a reaction to anything i think it either is part of the healing or just random, this healing is really started to f me up, my hands look like a 80 year old from all the extra wrinkles and cracking thats happening

Lister Rising Star

im acually doing farly better atleast parshaly, can the stomic a grumbls and pain be assoseated with healing because for the past 3 days now the pain and grouble is getting worse and lasts longer i had a groumble today last over a minute of none stop groumboling, also im getten bad bad cramps on my left side, but i know im not glutened because i can still see strait and think proporly

Lister Rising Star

talked to my doctor today, about my stomic grumbles and exactly what they feel like and sound like, he says im starving myself, i told him about the fact that i eat every 40 minutes to keep it calml he says it does not matter i just need to snack like every 30 on something like vegetables and still eat whole meals, for some reason during my healing process my body is going into a starvation mode aparently im not abosorbing as much food as i thought i was :(

i personaly think that the reason it goes away if i eat really often is because, its just what my bowls do if there not busy digesting, so the second im not digesting food my stomic starts to hurt and attacks me, that cant be good i wonder if im doing damage when i sleep??

My migraines generally have their onset during the early morning hours as well. Presently, I am under siege with them, having headaches all but two days so far this month. I have looked at all the things reported to be common triggers (foods, sleep patterns, weather patterns, stress, etc.). Every time I think I start to see a pattern it proves not to pan out in the long run. I'm not sure it's any one thing but may, instead, be a combination of things that coalesce at certain times. It's very frustrating. The medication (sumatriptan or "Imatrix") is effective and is the only thing that will quell the pain. NSAIDs, Tylenol, even hydrocodone doesn't touch it. But they only give you 9 does of sumatriptan a month. And it doesn't help that medical science doesn't really know what causes migraines. They know some things about it but the root cause is still a mystery.

Just a gluten free diet is not enough.  Now you have to identify and replenish your malnutrition.  Celiac disease is co-morbid with malabsorption syndrome.  Low vitamin D, Low Thiamine caused Gastointeston Beriberi, low choline, low iodine are common the general population, and in newly diagnosed Celiacs in the western culture its is more likely.  It takes time to heal and you need to focus on vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free foods are not fortified like regular processed foods.

Dear Kitty Since March I have been following your recommendations regarding vitamins to assist with various issues that I have been experiencing.  To recap, I am aged 68 and was late diagnosed with Celiac about 12 years ago.  I had been experiencing terrible early morning headaches which I had self diagnosed as hypoglycaemia.  I also mentioned that I had issues with insomnia, vertigo and brain fog.   It's now one year since I started on the Benfotiamine 600 mg/day.  I am still experiencing the hypoglycaemia and it's not really possible to say for sure whether the Benfotiamine is helpful.  In March this year, I added B-Complex Thiamine Hydrochloride and Magnesium L-Threonate on a daily basis, and I am now confident to report that the insomnia and vertigo and brain fog have all improved!!  So, very many thanks for your very helpful advice. I am now less confident that the early morning headaches are caused by hypoglycaemia, as even foods with a zero a GI rating (cheese, nuts, etc) can cause really server headaches, which sometimes require migraine medication in order to get rid off.  If you are able to suggest any other treatment I would definitely give it a try, as these headaches are a terrible burden.  Doctors in the UK have very limited knowledge concerning dietary issues, and I do not know how to get reliable advice from them. Best regards,

@rei.b,  I understand how frustrating starting a new way of eating can be.  I tried all sorts of gluten-free processed foods and just kept feeling worse.  My health didn't improve until I started the low histamine AIP diet.  It makes a big difference.   Gluten fits into opioid receptors in our bodies.  So, removing gluten can cause withdrawal symptoms and reveals the underlying discomfort.  SIBO can cause digestive symptoms.  SIBO can prevent vitamins from being absorbed by the intestines.  Thiamine insufficiency causes Gastrointestinal Beriberi (bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea or constipation).  Thiamine is the B vitamin that runs out first because it can only be stored for two weeks.  We need more thiamine when we're sick or under emotional stress.  Gastric Beriberi is under recognised by doctors.  An Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test is more accurate than a blood test for thiamine deficiency, but the best way to see if you're low in thiamine is to take it and look for health improvement.  Don't take Thiamine Mononitrate because the body can't utilize it well.  Try Benfotiamine.  Thiamine is water soluble, nontoxic and safe even at high doses.  I thought it was crazy, too, but simple vitamins and minerals are important.  The eight B vitamins work together, so a B Complex, Benfotiamine,  magnesium and Vitamin D really helped get my body to start healing, along with the AIP diet.  Once you heal, you add foods back in, so the AIP diet is worth doing for a few months. I do hope you'll consider the AIP diet and Benfotiamine.
