Cc? Hilshire Farms Or Frito Lay?

For breakfast we had fruit, gluten free, no problem.

For lunch we had Hilshire Farm Cheese Brats, and Ruffles potato chips, with Frito Lay french onion dip.

All the Celiac people in the house are sick.

I have a major headache and tummy ache

4 year old has a rash and is cranky

3 year old has D, rash, cranky, and says her brain is "paused" (I think she means brain fog)

We haven't ever gotten sick from any of the stuff we ate today before, and hubby is fine. I read it all, and it all looks to be gluten free.

Do you think we got Cross-contaminated?

If so, have any of you had problems with Hilshire Farms or Frito Lay??

Frito Lays chips gives me problems.

CarlaB Enthusiast

I eat Ruffles all the time with no problem.

Haven't eaten Hillshire Farms, but I hear their gluten will be clearly labelled.

Sorry you're sick.

Just looked up Frito-Lay French Onion dip online and it says "contains milk and wheat ingredients."

yeah I don't think the frito lay dip is gluten-free, never had a problem with the hillshire farms stuff.

hopeyou feel better soon!

OMG.....

The one I have says CONTAINS MILK AND SOY INGREDIENTS

Do you think the label is wrong?

it has modified Tapioca starch.....what's that??!

CarlaB Enthusiast

On the internet I believe it said modified food starch. It was difficult to read.

it's on their Open Original Shared Link, but since it's the first time we tried it and we haven't ever had a problem with ruffles or hilshire farms, I am calling them monday, to find out what the deal is... that is scary that I just fed my kids gluten.

they are pissed off at me now. They keep saying "how can we trust you now?, you said it was gluten free!"

This is a good learning opportunity for your kids. Tell them you do the best you can and still make mistakes just like they do. Remind them of mistakes they've made that you've forgiven them for so they can see that's what you do, you don't just blame others without forgiveness. Besides, you're sick, too!! I would definately use this as an opportunity to reinforce with your kids that you love them, you make mistakes, too, but it's not an excuse for them to not treat you with respect. You're settting the stage now for their treatment of you when they're teenagers  Being a mom of teenagers, I'm glad I demanded respect from them when they were little, like yours are!!! ;)

Hang in there! Being a parent is difficult! Especially when you don't feel good and have this additional burden of celiac.

Did you use the Lays dry dip mix? That's the one on the list. The one I looked up was Frito-Lay French Onion Dip.

At the bottom of the frito lay website it says even though we wash between packaging a slight residue may remain and that people extremely sensitive might be affected. B)

Just wanted to add a thought, were you doing any finger painting, playing with clay, gluing pictures, drawing on a chalkboard, etc? These are also possible sources of contamination. In addition I would also look at what you had eaten the day before. For some of us the reaction can be delayed. For example I got glutened Friday night through CC at a restaurant  My ataxia was back with brain fog and a migraine yesterday morning but the stomach pains started last night and the frequent bathroom visits and joint pain today. I hope everyone feels better soon.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
