Well Happy bday...for the majority of wine, they are gluten-free....Ive never come across one with gluten. But honestly...for me wine is stronger then some hard alcohol. I didnt drink anything the first 6 -7 months i was dx....but now i started out with rum...i love the flavored bacardi's. Enjoy and be safe!

I think most wines are safe.

I, too, find rum to be easier on my stomach. I like Mount Gay Rum, but drink Bacardi if they don't have it. I drink it with 7 UP to avoid the caffeine.

I drink wines from a local winery by me. It is called Pindar. I absolutly love there winter white. From my experience with wine, whites are alot soffter then reds. You might want to go with a white to start.

another good hard alcohol is disarono (amaredo) with 7up. It is one of my favorite drinks and it is very soft not to strong.

Happy b-day

(mine is on the 4th of july :D )

I love Pindar too!!! Do you know how long it took me to figure out the name on their sign outside? It looks like something foreign!

I don't live on LI, but my family is from there - I'll actually be there this weekend!

If you get a chance go over to duck walk vinyards. they have amazing wine also. They have a dessert wine that is blueberry and boisionberry. IT IS TO DIE FOR!!!! The bottle is fairly small only about 4 glasses, but let me tell you OMG :D

I work over in cutchogue and Duck Walk is right over by me. I am waiting for the day that me and my coworkers go over and hit up all the wineries instead of working... I know its gonna happen one day becasue my boss is a total wine buff

Have fun this weekend. :)

I'm such a wino! :P My favorite "flavor" is white merlot. Sutter Home makes one. Berringer makes a better one. :) It's light and fruity without being dry or sharp like some of the whites can taste. Pinot grigio is usually pretty good. The last shiraz I had actually tasted really salty. It was weird and kinda gross. I don't like regular merlot. A lot of them smell like bread mold. Barefoot brand wines are all really awesome (even the merlot) and cost around $7 a bottle.

My favorite rum drink is Captain Morgan and ginger ale. It tastes like cream soda. ;)

I was taking Benefiber for my IBS-C before my celiac diagnosis. It does say Gluten Free but lists Wheat Dextrin on the label. I really dont like psyllium fiber, so is there anything else I can take or is the Benefiber really ok for someone with Celiac disease?  Thanks!!!

Abdominal pain and an itchy stomach were the symptoms I asked to see a GI about. Now I’ve learned these other symptoms—that I have but attributed to other issues—could also be related to celiac disease:  fatigue joint pain canker sores numbness or tingling in hands or feet difficulty with coordination anemia headaches neutropenia I never dreamed in a million years she would consider celiac disease. It was a shock to me. It’s definitely not what I went to her for.

@Rejoicephd, I'm not a doctor, but I experienced severe thiamine deficiency.  Your symptoms seem really familiar.  Malabsorption is a real thing that happens with Celiac.  A multivitamin is not going to prevent nor correct nutritional deficiencies.    Doctors do not recognize nutritional deficiency symptoms.  Gastrointestinal Beriberi is not recognized often.  Caused by thiamine deficiency, high dose thiamine supplements or IV administration with other vitamins, minerals and glucose under doctor's care is needed.   Thiamine deficiency is found in anemia.  Thiamine deficiency in the kidneys can result in electrolyte imbalances and cloudy urine.  Thiamine deficiency can cause high blood sugar which can cause cloudy urine.  Dehydration can cause cloudy urine.   I'm linking some PubMed articles.  You see if your symptoms match.  Discuss the possibility of Gastrointestinal Beriberi with one of your specialists soon!  Just to rule it out.  I'm very concerned.   I'm linking some PubMed articles.  You see if your symptoms match.   Thiamine, gastrointestinal beriberi and acetylcholine signaling https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12014454/#ref3 From Section 3: "In conclusion, TD limited to the gastrointestinal system may be an overlooked and underdiagnosed cause of the increasingly common gastrointestinal disorders encountered in modern medical settings. Left unattended, it may progress to wet or dry beriberi, most often observed as Wernicke encephalopathy.". . And... Refeeding Syndrome https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK564513/

What are your symptoms? What has brought you to the point where you sought celiac disease testing?

Thanks so much. This is what I thought but really wanted a second opinion. I appreciate this.
