Van's Waffles

I ate some Van's blueberry waffles Thursday evening and have not felt well since. Actually today is the first day I feel back to normal. Has anyone had problems with these waffles? I felt like I had to go to the bathroom (BM) all the time for about three days after eating them, just bloated and yucky feeling, and my anxieties were full strong over the weekend.

Sorry you're sick :(

Are you sure you got the gluten-free ones? The boxes are almost identical except for the ribbon across the front.

I don't have a problem with them. Was your syrup gluten-free?

Mango04 Enthusiast

They contain a lot of soy flour, and that is what bothers me. I think soy flour can be bothersome to some people who aren't generally intolerant to soy.

Yes they were the gluten free kind, and yes, my syrup was also gluten free, same with margarine also.

I do okay with the plain gluten-free ones, but I have been eating the Buckwheat gluten-free ones and think they are causing some issues. Not sure if it is the buckwheat or soy or what. I am intolerant to soy, but have been able to eat the plain gluten-free waffles with no issues in the past.

I haven't had issues with them, but my dad has had some issues with the Flax and Buckwheat ones. Of course, I'm so new to the diet yet that I haven't figured out what's bothering me and what is still remnants of my gluteny days. :)

My dd got very sick on the Vans Wheat Free Waffles.. I couldn't figure it out. I have some Lifestream Buckwheat ones to try now though.

I don't think Van's are made on dedicated lines. So it could be a cc issue. I had to stop eating them a long time ago.

I got very sick from Van's waffles. I don't know if it was the CC or the soy flour, but I won't try them again.

I never noticed a problem with Van's, but I haven't had them that much either. Maybe you got a contaminated batch. I would stay away from them. Try Nature's Path Buckwheat Wildberry Waffles, they are produced in a gluten free facility. I eat those all the time with no problems.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hope to find some today! :)

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
