I have been prescribed antibiotics for a possible strep throat. Specifically Zithromax. Does anyone know if this is gluten-free and if not what antibiotics might be gluten-free? Thanks.

Your pharmacist will be able to tell you... different brand names may have diiferent fillers etc.

The pharmacist will have a book called the CPS manual (Compendium of phramceuticals) - this book contains all the ingredients in brand name and generici drugs. If it is unclear (modifed food starch) the company will have a direct phone number they can call.

The pharmacist said the ings. were okay, but perhaps I should ask for the list 'cause that's what I'm worried about- things he may not know contain gluten. Thanks again.

The Z-Pack, put out by Pfizer is gluten free. I have called and verified this, as it's the only antibiotic I can take.

According to the Clan Thompson Smart Drug List Zithromax made by Pfizer is gluten-free.

Thank you all very much! I hate to take antibiotics anyway- don't like taking any prescription drugs- but this chest infection is quite nasty. Good health to all.

I'm so computer illiterate I don't even know what a "PM" is! But I would love to have that list. Maybe when my daughter gets up she can explain it to me. Thank you!

Just had a horrible night-throat in a vice grip and chest hacking and now conjunctivitus as well! I took the first dose an hour ago.

I am not sure what the list is here. It's a huge PDF file that i got from an autism site because I am both gluten and casein free.

      Gluten free Yogurt suggest

      I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free. Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by...

      I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).

      I have a One Pot and decided to start using it one day. I was hesitant at first making my own yogurt, but was surprised at how easy it was. I like mine better too.

      Because I spend so much time reading every word on all food packaging, I personally would greatly appreciate it if there was one common gluten-free symbol written in large-enough text, and always located in the same place. That alone will make shopping easier and faster. I dread having to buy packaged food. Thank you very much for asking,

Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.
