Is plainville near Boston or Western Ma. or somewhere in the middle?

ehrin Explorer

It's near N. Attleboro - almost in Rhode Island.

I've been thinking about going to that place. I am so glad you had a great experience!! What did you have to eat?

I was looking into going to this restaurant (as I LOVE mexican food). I did not see the gluten-free menu or mention of it online, so I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. He seemed a bit confused and did not leave me feeling very safe about eating there. So I decided against going. I was hoping to hear from someone on this forum who may have gone and had a successful gluten-free meal! If you do not mind, can you tell me how you went about eating there? Did they have actual gluten-free menu's and did you talk to the manager or chef? What did you order? Sorry for all the questions! I would love to be able to eat Mexican out at a restaurant!

Thanks!!

yes, they have a gluten-free menu, you just need to ask for it..I always get the same thing, its grilled chicken strips with grilled onions and peppers, comes out sizzling..on another dish is homemade guacamole, beans, homemade mexican rice, sour cream, lettuce, tomatos.then in a small covered dish are 4 corn burritos

I can only eat about half, i bring the rest home..you can get it with beef too i think, but i can't eat red meat

the food is all homemade and awesome!!!!

last week a young boy sat us and when I asked for the gluten-free menu he was confused, hubby went up to the older man thats always there, think its the owner, he was great and gave me my menu

my hubby gets the pork burrito..i have never seen a burrtio that big and the pork is so tender, must be 1/4 of a roast in it!!

I have an ulcer and the food is mild, never bothers me..oh ya, I ask to have cheese melted on my sizzling chicken YUM!!!!

will probably go again this weekend

sorry it took me so long to reply, my aunt died, my moms loosing her sight and i'm busy taking her places, running back and forth to her house

anyway, enjoy your meal..don't eat breakfast lol

Thanks for the info! I am moving to Mansfield in the next couple of weeks so will not be far from there. I am excited to try this place!

Sorry to hear about your aunt and your mom's vision.

Maybe I will see you at Rancho's...I will know who is hogging the gluten-free menu if it is unavailable ;)

Ha, this could get ugly! ;)

I am emailing with my sister right now and I think we may go this Saturday evening (she has celiac as well)...

Do you live in the area?

ebrbetty Rising Star

its only about 15 mins from me :D theres also an Italian resturant in the area that has a gluten-free menu, haven't been there yet and can't remember the name :( going to try and find it now

if your ever in the Franklin area, Pepper Terrace Thai food has gluten-free food too, they don't have a separate menu, the owner and chef, nicki, will tell you what is safe. we always get the house fried rice and the pad thai, very good!

heres the list of the italian restaurants in the area

My sister and I are doing a girls night and going into Providence over Labor Day weekend and are going to try the North End Cafe in North Providence. I called and spoke to the manager. He said to just come in and ask for the gluten-free menu. He also indicated that he is working on getting the menu on their website. The only places I have eaten since going gluten-free (2.5 years ago) have been Legals, Outback and PF Changs. So I am very much looking forward to Italian and Mexican! I of course am a bit apprehensive, as eating out is always risky (and I am SUPER sensitive). Thanks for the info on the Thai restaurant!

Have a good time with your sister :D

If you think of it will you PM me or put up a post after you go, I'd love to hear how it was

thanks, Betty

p.s. they seem to own a few places in RI

megzmc3611 Rookie

I definitely will let you know how it is! Yes, they have quite a few restaurants in RI. Seems they all have gluten-free options too!

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
