Julie,

Your hair is beautiful, why would you need to highlight it. Chelsea's was beautiful at her wedding too....I guess I'll never understand why people want to mess with hair that is already beautiful.

Good morning Andrea! How are you doing without Mitch at home??

Thanks about the hair. The highlights just add a little brightness around the face, nothing too over the top, which is much needed since my hair has darkened significantly as I have gotten older.

Ok... I'll arrange that. LOL!

But seriously... The Price is Right is better than Lazytown...which is what I'm watching.

Jayhawkmom, I love your picture :)

:lol: The Price Is Right! I haven't watched that in ages. It's hard to believe Bob Barker is still going at it.

Good Celiac PR idea Jessica!

My phone lines went down today so no internet. I was in panic mode, what am I gonna miss on the board :blink:

Susan- I am available to dingosit the bored staring dogs for you

Julie - lines down - scary - - :o

DingoSit - - any time at all - - and guess what, my best friend donated GIANT Screen TV last night, they are here for a few days.....secret piano trade is the reason (shhhhh, her husband doesn't know)

you will love it here.....the dingos, they will love you...

i'm in the minority i hate grease so much, i have always hated it, i saw it is england when i was 6 as a show and i didn't understand it and from then it just has not appealed to me.

Molly - OMG, saw "Cats" in London and was almost in tears from boredom....sitting through musicals is, I think one of the things they do in .....hell (that and excel spreadsheets and Mennonite committee meetings)....thought I might die.....loved the first Grease movie, but I"m with Chelsea, will not see second.....and then guess what...my oldest niece played Sandy in the Grease production in senior year of HS, also she was Evita, I had to drive home from Monterey to see her in every play since she was 6 or 7......but she did win performer of the year in her large school district - I was sobbing in Grease...... so proud of her.....

You'll be ok ;) You should mostly be using your legs....and your arms to help me (belay)...hehe speaking of an ogre

yes, right, you have time Rachel for arms to heal.....remember it's your FOREARMS that will be blown out from climbing and belaying the "ogre"

I won't watch Grease 2 on principle, just like I won't watch any Bring it On sequels...it ruins the first one. Actually, any movie/show that tries to come back with a different cast is just bad news

OH

I went back to the hair lady yesterday...she tried to put another color over it to even it out (my natural color, actually) and it looks worse. So I have to go get it stripped today, and then wait 24 hours to color it again  DH's grandparents are coming into town tomorrow, too. Not good.

yup, ditto, but the second Alien movie was quite good - and scary - -

sorry about the hair - it does look good red! - but once, years ago, I did highlights on self....they were....PUMPKIN colored and bright orange, I had to call in sick to work and pay $125 for corrective coloring....am thinking of highlights again....scared...... :o

that is all for now....must rouse the teenager who is sleeping....she cleaned my closet yesterday, such a dramatic and rapid change, I walked in and it was like While You Were Out - - I nearly cried....she loves to clean and is here for two more days......:rolleyes::rolleyes:

see you - - -

someone tell me, what is Picard and Jean-Luc - - do not know....

Kris,

Love the picture. I just love seeing everyone.

Who else do we need to pester about a picture.....Ryan is one. He posted over on the Tazorac thread this morning.

I haven't watched Price is Right forever either. Of course, we don't have TV now  , just watch DVD's and videos that we have. Old time stuff that most probably aren't interested. I may have posted it on the OMG thread. Great idea though Jessica.

OMG, I saw CATS two summers ago..... and HATED it. I can't even begin to express to you how much I hated it.

I've loved other musicals, but NOT that one!!!

Thanks, I really hate having my pics taken. That one is well... a little older. It was taken in 2004 as I was getting ready for a Christmas party. I'd been REALLY sick so I did more primping than I normally would. I found out a few days later that I was pregnant. Hehehehehe! =)

I'm still trying to get rid of the baby weight, pretty sad since he'll be a year old next week. But, I hate being in front of the camera!!!

Well I think you look fabulous jayhawkmom!!!

Regarding musicals, I have been to a few here in the city and then community theatre in the suburbs, I actually LOVE them, but I am a dork

One of my cousins went to a performing arts high school here, kind of like a "Fame" school, and they put on shows all the time, dance performances, plays, musicals, concerts, and they were so awesome. So much talent, better quality than some of the adult performance companies.

CATS is pure torture.....my parents saw it two more times when we were in London (and we were in London when Charles and Di got married - such a magic, unbelievable time! Di and I were the same age and I loved her very much... :( )

Cats is torture, abject torture.....BUT - - we also saw Amadeus, it was the year it won the....Obi? is that the British equivilent of the Tony, or did I make that up? And it was truly amazing and staggering in its magnificence...also saw Evita.....hated it....musicals are torture for me AS I AM SO ANNOYED AND WANT THEM TO JUST GET BACK TO THE TALKING FOR PETE'S SAKE.....but I hate plays - - love movies....cannot sit through a play.....agony.............. :o:blink::lol:

This is right up my alley :D

I love QVC, Land's End, LL Bean, Coldwater Creek, Chadwicks

And MUSICALS! Love them!

My all-time favorite is "The Music Man". We went up to New York City to see it on Broadway for our 25th anniversary. It was fantastic. When Craig Bierko (the man who played H. Hill) did his last performance, we went back and saw it again about a year later. It was great to be there on his last day :)

I love all of the songs fron the older shows like "My Fair Lady" and "Camelot".

Ok Patti, since you are with me on the musical thing, let's take it one step further

Susan,

I'm glad to see you more. :D

Julie,

Ebay, Amazon primarily. I order my school books online, have ordered from JCPenney. I prefer online when possible since I am one of the rare ones that hates to shop. :P

Kris,

You look great. Our babies are three months apart!

Julie,

DVD's we have.....Little House (What is being dubbed Season 10, the three 2 hour specials, is coming out in October), Lassie, some Andy Griffith (debating getting the seasons but out of money), Mister Ed, Charlie Brown Christmas, My Friend Flicka and Thunderhead, National Velvet with Liz Taylor, Davey & Goliath, Charlie the Lonesome Cougar.

Most of the stuff we have is from the 60's/70's. We prefer stuff from that time period when there were still some wholesome family shows on tv. Haven't had tv for about 10 years. I'm an old David Hasselhoff fan so I used to watch his shows, not good for young family viewing. We were thinking of looking into Highway to Heaven since Michael Landon usually did good shows. Content would probably still scare Talitha though. I think I only watched the show once or twice. Maybe we should look into Bonanza. My daughter would be horrified though....he's Charles Ingalls. She still has a hard time with the fact the he is not the REAL Charles Ingalls but an actor who portrayed him. She's like that with all the characters in Little House. :P

I used to like to watch ice skating. I always enjoyed, was it Scott Hamilton  . I forget his name, he did a backflip on ice. My favorite skaters were Gordeeva and Grinkhoff. I also forget how to spell there names. Back in '84 was their first olympic appearance.

I used to watch all the time when I was growing up Little House, Leave it To Beaver, Bewitched, Gidget, I Dream of Jeannie, My Favorite Martian, I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley....a bunch of others I am forgetting.

What about Flipper? I am thinking that might be age appropriate and family friendly, not sure though, as well as The Muppet Show?? Lassie?

Yep, Scott Hamilton, love him!

My favorites were Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov too Andrea, so tragic that Sergei died. I followed their career and then Ekaterina when she went solo, bought her book My Sergei and read it a hundred times.

swittenauer Enthusiast

Oh, no ice skating for me please. In my book it is right up there with watching bowling, golf or baseball. I guess I am not really a fan of watching any sports except maybe NASCAR. My husband has me into that now.

AndreaB Contributor

Julie,

We thought about trying to get some Flipper shows but I don't remember a lot about them and my daughter is easily scared. Some Little House shows scare her. There is one episode (2 parter) that we won't watch, at least until they are much older, it has to do with rape. There was another one that we decided to watch that was iffy and it scared her....I can only imagine what that episode would do, and I've never seen it either.

I used to watch most of the shows you listed too.

OK...my dork meter went off the charts a long time ago so I'm not really gonna concern myself with that.

Susan...are you saying you wouldnt wanna hang out with me and Julie....watching Grease 2 and ice skating shows??? What are you THINKING??? It would be a blast....:lol:

Ok...well maybe I would think I'd died and gone to hell too if I wasnt an ex-skater. Thats the only reason I like it. :P

However, I didnt skate on the ice...I was a roller skater.

Yes, I did this competetively....wore the same skirt type outfits the ice skaters wear....I had a partner too. It was basically the same except when I fell I didnt freeze my butt off. :D

Ooooh...maybe one day I'll change my avatar to an old pic of me in my roller skating days.

That one would stay up for about 5 minutes....

Roller skating is totally different. I love roller skating. I've never seen Grease 2. Usually the sequels aren't so good but I might give it a try.

Gosh Julie--I am learning that we have a lot in common!

I also need to buy petite pants! I'm 5 foot 3, but my arms and legs are short--I'm more long-waisted. That's really all that I get from Chadwicks--they have so many choices in petite pants. For petite jeans, I always buy Lee Riders--their petite length fits me perfectly.

I love ice skating! I took lessons for years when I was young. When my older son was about 3 or 4, I wanted to take him to Disney on Ice--he wasn't all that interested--it was me who really wanted to go! Used to love the Ice Capades, too when I was little.

I still love all of those 60's and 70's TV shows. My favorites were Gidget (I wanted her hair), That Girl, (her hair, too) and Bewitched. Did you like to watch beauty pagents? I always looked forward to Miss America--the hairdos and the gowns--beautiful...

Andrea--Have your kids ever seen "The Waltons"? I still like the reruns of that show. It is absolutely charming. I also like Andy Griffith--once in a while it'll be on and I catch it. Good stuff!

swittenauer Enthusiast

I hate to admit it but I love Andy Griffith also. Ha!

@catnapt,  Wheat germ contains high amounts of lectins which are really hard to digest and can be irritating to the digestive tract.  They can stimulate IgG antibody production as your blood test shows.   Even beans have lectins.  You've simply eaten too many lectins and irritated your digestive tract.   You may want to allow your digestive tract to rest for a week, then start on gluten in "normal" food, not in concentrated vital wheat gluten. This explains it well: Lectins, agglutinins, and their roles in autoimmune reactivities https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25599185/

I take Now B-1 (100 mg) Thiamine Hydrochloride, and Amazing Formulas L-Tryptophan (1000 mg).   Both are gluten free and free of other allergens.  I've taken them for a long time and haven't had a problem with them. I take Vitamin A from BioTech called "A-25".  It's gluten and allergen free and made in the USA.  It's a powder form of Vitamin A.  I was having trouble digesting fats at one point, but found I tolerated the powder form much better and have stuck with it since.   Tryptophan and Vitamin A help heal the intestines as well as improves skin health.  I get Dermatitis Herpetiformis and eczema flairs when my stomach is upset.  So I'm healing the outside as well as the inside.   I take one 1000 mg Tryptophan before bedtime.   With the Thiamine HCl, take 100 mg to start.  If you don't notice anything, three hours later take another. You can keep increasing your dose in this manner until you do notice improvement.  Remember not to take it in the evening so it won't keep you too energized to sleep. When I first started Thiamine HCl, taking 500 mg to 1000 mg to start was recommended.  If you've been thiamine insufficient for a while, you do notice a big difference.  It's like the start of a NASCAR race: Zoom, Zoom, turn it up!   This scared or made some people uncomfortable, but it's just your body beginning to function properly, like putting new spark plugs in your engine.  I took 1000 mg all at once without food.  It kicked in beautifully, but I got a tummy ache, so take with food.  I added in Thiamine TTFD and Benfotiamine weeks later and felt like I was Formula One racing.  So cool.  You may feel worse for a couple days as your body adjusts to having sufficient thiamine.  Feels sort of like you haven't cranked your engine for a while and it backfires and sputters, but it will settle down and start purring soon enough.  Adjust your dose to what feels right for you, increasing your dose as long as you feel improvement.  You can reach a plateau, so stay there for several days, then try bumping it up again.  If no more improvements happen, you can stay at the plateau amount and experiment with increasing your Thiamine TTFD.  It's like being your own lab rat.  LoL Yes, take one Benfotiamine at breakfast and one at lunch.  Take the B Complex at breakfast. Take the TTFD at breakfast and lunch as well.  I like to take the vitamins at the beginning of meals and the NeuroMag at the end of meals.   You may want to add in some zinc.  I take Thorne Zinc 30 mg at breakfast at the beginning of the meal.   Are you getting sufficient Omega Threes?  Our brains are made up mostly of fat.  Flaxseed oil supplements, sunflower seed oil supplements (or eat the seeds themselves) can improve that.  Cooking with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil is also helpful.   @Wheatwacked likes phosphotidyl choline supplements for his Omega Threes.  He's also had dramatic health improvement by supplementing thiamine.  You're doing great!  Thank you for sharing your journey with us.  This path will smooth out.  Keep going!
    • catnapt
good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.
    • catnapt
I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.
    • xxnonamexx
What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks
