That is so, like 2 Avatars ago!

In the current picture I am atop Whiteface (where the Olymplics were skiied in 1980) Mtn in Lake Placid in February 2005. It was about 2F and windy! I was wearing every stitch of clothing I could find!

There you have it!

This picture was supposed to show me on ice skates for the first time in my life. Unfortunately the guy we asked to take the picture didn't hear that part! :)

Later.

Off to get the kiddies and snacks for LOST!

Is it like riding a bike (you never forget?)

If you played through high school, you'd pick it up again. My old church invited any members of the parish who played an instrument to join the 4th of July group ... I thought, "How hard can July 4th music be?" and dusted my flute off after 23 years of not playing and joined. That day I got invited to join the folk group at Church and the community band. I joined both! So, the church got to see me re-learn to play right in front of everyone!! After a few months my hubby bought me my dream flute! Last December I had the big flute solo for our Christmas concert!!! I joined a woodwind quintet and learned so much there! Now that we moved, I'm in a parish of over 10,000 people, and I play every weekend. Sometimes I sound good, sometimes I don't, but people seem to respect the fact that I have the courage to try. (If Adam were here, he'd say, "Don't listen to her, she lies, she's GREAT!" just as he always does).

You ARE BRAVE!

I can just remember my sister busting our eardrums when she was learning. I woldn't want to do that in front of 10K early on a Sunday morn!

Can you play any Jethro Tull solos? :P Ian rock's on that thing!

Do you know he took up the flute because he thought he could never be as great a guitar player as his contemporaries? (Clapton, Hendrix, Page)

It works for him, but it's kind of an odd fit...

They have several masses .... so it's not that many people all at once ... though it's been over 1500!

I haven't tried Jethro Tule. The old man I sat next to in band in Bloomington (he was old enough that John Phillip Sousa was a guest conductor at his high school!) played flute because it was a girl instrument ... he got to be around all the girls! :o I played a duet at his funeral with the band director's wife ... it was an honor.

I could play anything I have the music to if I have time to practice. The Church music is so easy, I don't practice it ... the band music, some of it I have to take home, but only for the fast parts ... the quintet music was at the professional level (never did understand why they invited ME to join them!! Most of them had been music majors, one was a professional with a German opera for 10 years!) I had to practice daily!

And, remember, I wasn't learning to play starting at the beginning level .... I was very good in HS!!

My anniversary is coming up 10/10, and last night Mary (my wife) asked if I wanted to do a weekend getaway. Well, more like a Saturday night getaway. Do you think this is just an odd coincidence, or has my wife been lurking around here  (listening to Karen  )? Either way I think I'll be taking her up on the offer. Maybe we'll have a new fridge next week.

You can practice and get someone's notes on the lecture later.

Who's gonna explain the significance of the full moon to me? Something along the lines of "once in a blue moon"?

Karen? oh, KARENNNNNNNNNNNN!

It's the tradition that it gets crazy around here and we let loose on our posts at the full moon. It started with the Altoids thread, then became a tradition.

Tell your wife you can't get away for a romantic weekend because you'd miss the full-moon activity on celiac.com. That will go over really well.

Even better, take your computer with you.

I may be dumb, but I'm not STUPID!

A 'laptop' is probably not a good idea!

I was thinking of having my nails done (pedicure) as a special treat for myself. I'm weird. See --> http://gim.gupshup.org/gal/H/yumm4539_7650328.webp

A little polish really brightens things up.

Richard that's disgusting .... actually, you'd like a pedicure ... you don't HAVE to get polish, but you do get a nice foot massage and soak!

Thanks. Since the back and forth and promises of review and general stalling went on for more than six months, the credit company will no longer investigate. They have a cutoff of maybe six months.
    • Scott Adams
Is this the same restaurant? https://www.facebook.com/TheHappyTartFallsChurch/ Is it too late to take this up with your credit card company? Normally you have a few months to do a chargeback with them. It seems very odd that they are taking this approach with someone who is likely to be a regular customer--not a good business-minded way of handling things!

Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful: The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.
