I had two until my husband retired and two became three. :o In a "manly" voice "Mom, where is this, where is that". Oh the joys of retirement.

My hubby hasn't worked in 5 yrs due to his 'auto-immune explosion' and decline in health so I hear ya!!!

Well, as women, we have autoimmune explosions (as I did) and soldier on, don't we? ;)

My hubby hasn't been able to be another child ... I'm afraid, I'm the one who's another child ... everyone in the house has been taking care of me for the past couple years. :) I have been getting better, but the only responsibility I've taken back is grocery shopping and cooking. Everyone else still does all the laundry, cleaning, etc.

Wow...six kids! Do I admire you, Carla. :)

Thanks. It's fun, it really is. I like a busy, active house. I hate that school will be starting soon.

Techinically, mine wasn't an autoimmune explosion .... I also couldn't "soldier on" .... I guess it has to do with how sick you get.

Simple beings - with simple needs!! (sorry Tom)

Oh so dreadfully polite!

Puh-leeeze!! No need!

That'd be like me apologizing for calling your homeland an island of bad teeth, riding our star-spangled coattails in a desparate attempt to appear to have a smidgen of the global significance once enjoyed when the sun never set on the British Empire!!

Pshaw!

P.S. I think the rise of the (global) Empire was directly caused by Newton's calculus, which made designing the best fastest ships childs-play, leading to naval superiority. Just a theory.

Island of bad teeth...!!:o Ha! The noive of you, Tom! Nikki, do you all really have poor dental health over there? My husband's relatives are all English (living there still), and I must say that all of them have pretty scary looking choppers.

Well,(as it's clearly 'have a go at the British dental system day' thought you guys might like this poem  )

English Teeth, English Teeth!

Shining in the sun

A part of British heritage

Aye, each and every one.

English Teeth, Happy Teeth!

Always having fun

Champing down on bits of fish

And sausages half done.

English Teeth, HEROES' Teeth!

Here them click! and clack!

Let's sing a song of praise to them -

Three Cheers for the Brown Grey and Black.

-- Spike Milligan

In my defence - *we* (my family) see a dentist twice a year - all have had braces + brush twice a day. ;)

We don't get 'cosmetic' dentistry on the NHS (e.g whitening) .... and though my 'teef' ain't perfect (American standard) they are part of me (warts an' all) :D

Tsk! ....Husbands  ...what are they like eh??

It's a bloomin' cure all if you listen to them!!

AHhhhhh yes, panacea is a favorite word of mine. (I swear an herbacious combustible used to work for me.)

<hmmmm is it worth a scolding :P to mention Karin's sore throat remedy . . . >

HUSH you!!!!!!

I had two until my husband retired and two became three. :o In a "manly" voice "Mom, where is this, where is that". Oh the joys of retirement.

You must all PROMISE me - today! Right NOW! Please raise your right hand and put your left on the monitor.

If I ever address some future wife as "Mom", SHOOT ME!!! :o:o

Thanks - I appreciate it.

Thanks. It's fun, it really is. I like a busy, active house. I hate that school will be starting soon.

:)

Your kids probably don't know how good they have it, but they'll sure know and remember fondly as adults. :)

Adam only calls me "Mom" when we're with the kids.

Thanks. None of them want to grow up (except for 17 year old son), so I think they appreciate it now. :)

 (or more correctly not quite a big LOL, as much as a verrrryyyyy long low chuckle - uhoh it started again, cya in a few minutes) :)

And yes, I must admit, I believe the english teeth rep is probably currently undeserved, but maybe correct decades ago.

Yuck.

No kiddin, right?

I don't know how some of this stuff gets in my posts, but I think I can delete it at the slightest prompting.

Um, so are you telling us that men are not only simple, but they're stupid, too???

Mmmm, I actively discourage Terry from doing this  - as he ends up doing it when the kids aren't about!

Adam does't do that. :P I'm never "Mom" when the kids aren't around.

Actually Tom, if the truth were known, I should call him Dad - right Nik? :P Do you like that senario better? B) We don't refer to each other as Mom and Dad, other than references in talking to our children. There IS something very odd about that.

elye Community Regular

...Yes, that has always REALLY bothered me...couples calling each other "Mom" and "Dad". I remember having a fit one year when my husband and kids presented me with my birthday cake (before the gluten-free life!) and on it was written, "Happy Birthday Mom". AAAAAARRRRRGGGHHH! "Wipe that off and get the decorative icing! My name is Emily!"

Mmmmm, if you must...but ONLY in front of the kids!!! ;)

Well, Silly Buddies, you won't be hearing from me for a couple of weeks (how will you ever manage?!) Nikki, we are heading across the pond tomorrow for our holiday...the first time I've ever been in Europe. We'll be four nights in London, two in Winchester, and then the last week in Paris. I will check out the teeth while I'm there! :)

CarlaB Enthusiast

Have a great trip, Mom, oops, I mean, Emily!

tom Contributor

Whoa two weeks!!! Sounds great :)

I have yet to go to Europe myself. Wish I'd started going long ago, there's SO much to see.

Have a fantastic fortnight Emily!

Oh & the rest of ya - I need to amend my "Shoot Me" promise. I hope it's not too late cuz I wouldn't want to be shot for just referring to a wife as Mom when it's strictly for the benefit of not confusing kids who are in the same room.

Wish I'd been in SJ *this* wkend too. Trying to lock down a place to live from ~900 miles doesn't work.

DID realize how exciting a house would be. It's been a while since I could make loud music w/out worrying about shared walls, whether sax or elec guit. Mmmmmmmm this could REALLY be good!! :):D:wacko::lol:

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
