Yep, no green for me, either...perhaps this is Scott introducing something in place of an accessible green-guy emoticon--a complete sense of greenness, for when the nausea seems everywhere. I do need this sometimes...

A few years ago I got California Closets to come do my dad's bedroom closet. I went over to his house the day the consultant was coming and the lady was in there measuring and planning for almost 2 hours! It was supper time and we didn't know what to do about her. So my dad ending up making supper for her and the three of us ate spaghetti (pre-Celiac days!) and drank wine on my dad's closet floor. It was pretty funny. She took her job very seriously!

My dad's closet looked about twice as big after they performed their closet magic. I'm very jealous it and I wish my closet looked like that. I'm sure you'll be in awe of the finished product. I think closet organizer would be a fun job to have.

I was thinking it would be a fun job too! She ended up being here for 4 and a half hours :o We had tea and chatted a little--she was very nice.

It's so good to see you posting again, Alex ;)

:lol::lol::lol:

She's probably found some fabulous 'retro' jacket of your hubby's (aka -'packrat') and is wondering if she could sneak it out to sell on Ebay.......

God--if only.... :P

I'm thinkin' we could use her in our parade organization...Y'know, placing all the paraphrenalia within the floats, organizing and loading the guns with appropriate treats in the proper order...the most economical use of space can haunt parade organizers. You should ask her if she's ever tackled a job like this, Patti. She may jump at it...:lol:

Capital idea--as usual, Emily! :D Think of how much smoother the whole thing would run with a professional at the helm.....of course barring Chuck is key ;)

Oh gawwwd... I think my chronic sinus infections back... ugh, head may explode at any moment...

:( Those are awful--hope it dosen't last long. Saline spray or sinus irrigation is always helpful to me with sinus problems.

Where is PAtti? Did you watch DSM last night? The priest kills me (or is he a minister), so hilarious.

Julie--I did it again  I fell asleep about 15 minutes into it....I swore the last time this happened I'd TiVo it--and then I didn't  What did the crazy minister do last night?

Pick yer nose and eat it!!!!!!

:lol: What a classy bunch we are B)

Bev--Loved your fart poem :D

Totally cool and what an awesome experience for their kids. What takes them to Kenya?

And what the hell is that in your av? I hesitate to ask because based on your caption, I'm not sure you even know.

Did you let her go home, then? Or did you lock her back in?

Bev--Loved your fart poem :D

Bev, I loved it, too. The timing is perfect, as it is my dad's 83rd birthday on Sunday, and I'll recite this poem to him. He is the epitomy of a nice ol' fart. Now, this is provided he isn't in costume. <_<

No idea what to get him...what do you get an eighty-three year old codger who changes identities faster than I change my mind?

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
    • trents
Tammy, in the food industry, "gluten free" doesn't mean the same thing as "no gluten". As Scott explained, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) allows food companies to use the "gluten-free" label as long as the product does not contain more than 20 ppm (parts per million) of gluten. This number is based on studies the FDA did years ago to determine the reaction threshold for those with celiac disease. And the 20 ppm figure works for the majority of celiacs. There are those who are more sensitive, however, who still react to that amount. There is another, stricter standard known as "Certified Gluten Free" which was developed by a third party organization known as GFCO which requires not more than 10 ppm of gluten. So, when you see "GFCO" or "Certified Gluten Free" labels on food items you know they are manufactured with a stricter standard concerning gluten content. Having said all that, even though you may read the disclaimer on a food item that says the spices may contain wheat, barley or rye (the gluten grains), you should be able to trust that the amount of gluten the spices may contain is so small it allows the total product to meet the requirements of gluten free or certified gluten free labeling. I hope this helps.
    • Tammy Pedler
As soon as I see gluten free I read the labels. I always find stuff that I cannot have on the products them selfs. Like spices, when the labels says  everything listed and then after like say garlic salt then the next thing is spices. When it says that that can contain wheat and other things I can’t have..

While hypoglycemia isn't a direct, classic symptom of celiac disease, it's something that some individuals with well-managed celiac disease report, and there may be a few plausible explanations for why the two could be connected. The most common theory involves continued damage to the gut lining or nutrient deficiencies (like chromium or magnesium) that can impair the body's ability to regulate blood sugar effectively, even after gluten is removed. Another possibility is delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis) or issues with the hormones that manage blood sugar release, like glucagon. Since your doctors are puzzled, it may be worth discussing these specific mechanisms with a gastroenterologist or endocrinologist. You are certainly not alone in experiencing this puzzling complication, and it highlights how celiac disease can have long-term metabolic effects beyond the digestive tract.

Paracetamol, aka, acetaminophen (Tylenol) just does not do anything for me as far as pain relief. It does help with fevers, though.
