Yes, its the Strawberry that drops because that area in H-burg is called Strawberry Square :)

Um.......I thought you were talking about a cocktail called Strawberry Drops. are you saying that a giant strawberry comes down, like Dick Clark's descending crystal orb?

Just think of the mess . . . unless . . . perhaps . . . it falls on some shortcake, or ice cream, or whip cream . . . OK, maybe we should look into this.

Wasn't there a doll affiliated with the Care Bears named Strawberry Shortcake? Sounds like a job for the Care Bears, if you ask me.....

:P both........

OMG - I am trying a new trick with my old Stinker. See, all she does now, every single day of her life, is stay in bed the ENTIRE day, comes out only once or twice to eat and pee..... my poor baby. :( Then........she wants to go outside at night.......and then.......she barks every 90 seconds to five minutes.....so JUST when you're drifting off to sleep - a big bark.

So mommy has decided we're not going to play this reindeer game any more......Stinker has been SHUT OUT of her bedroom......I'm making her stay out here with us all day and keeping her awake. She keeps asking to go into her bed but I am NOT letting her.

Ah, the joys of mothering a psychotic, panic-stricken dingo.:lol:

Question for Peter . . . Do bald men wash there head with soap or shampoo?

I'll take this one, St. Peter, as I have one of these in my household. He has recently switched to soap, as he now has very little left on top and he's only washin' skin, now. Oh, to be young again....

He does sport a beard, however...I wonder if he uses shampoo on it? Hmm. Peter, does he?

Sarah! Start posting! We've missed you!

Indeed, it took quite some time to catch up! Thank you all for noticing I was gone!!! Of course there's been body fluids involved- there always is at my house. Christmas glutenings for everyone- <_< - but never so bad as to ruin Christmas. I have to say, catching up on all your posts made me want it to be Christmas all over again! *sigh*

Let's see if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on (not a chance.)

Bhutto assassination- too sad and discouraging. :(

Hitting a deer- scary!

Wooster-sauce- good stuff!

Stuffed shells- YUM, any left over?

Inebriated sillies all around-

Turkey gravy- I found 365 gluten-free turkey gravy at Whole Foods!!! I paid ridiculous amounts of $$ for 4 jars, and it did NOT turn into hot gravy jello upon re-heating.

umm....

Susie falling through a hedge forwards- Heinous! What was that dog chasing... reindeer?

Well.... one more bite of chocolate, and I just might barf. Time for Sarah to go on a serious after-holidays-DIET!!! It's been raining for days, but is supposed to clear up tomorrow. I think I'll work on the gardens. Also must get one of my tractor-owning neighbors to come over and till up the big garden.

It's almost time to get ready for early spring planting! Onions, carrots, salad greens can all go in in 2 months. And it takes me FOREVER to get everything ready by myself, as my hubby has no interest in gardening until it's time to eat.

Well, I'm off. Happy New Year's Eve Eve! lol

OMG the gravy success! what a coup! So....must look into this 365 gravy.......

and you are NOT kidding on teh diet!!!!!! :o I found these extreeeeeeeeeeeemely evil french salt caramels at Trader JOe's. Went through three things of them in less than two weeks. ANd then there was all the other candy, and the homemade marshmallows. so, I think I am only going to have sugar now in my coffee and oatmeal, and maybe maple syrup on the pancakes once or twice a week. Other than that - NO SUGAR ALLOWED. I am a candy addict.....and it makes me quite tired when I consume lots o' sugar. BAH!!!!!!!!!

Between the candy, the lunar (read: menstrual  ) cycle night sweats, and a senile, barking dingo, I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG Emily - yes, what does your husbnad use to wash his beard? Um, BTW, have you checked to see if there are any wee hoglets nestled therein?:lol:

Well....There WERE. I've been having trouble figuring how to say this to everyone...but, yes, there were messy hedgehogs in DH beard. But, um...hedgehog babies seem to be something of a delicacy in the diet of...yetis. So, he's eaten quite well. Thank gawd standard poodles are not to his liking, or cats. :o

Guess we've got him for New Years Eve, then he could go up north with MIL, unless anyone would like him for a stay. Susie, he hasn't been with you, yet. Or Tom--but I think I remember an allergy, there...

Sarah!! He could help with the pre-gardening chores!

Susie- We did our honeymoon in the Finger Lakes, it was so nice up there. We didn't get to any wineries though since we were short on time.

My wine drinking at dinner was more than usual. I was ok sitting, but then I had to go upstairs to go to the bathroom. I was wearing this nice plaid skirt and sweater and my Mary Janes with the clunky heels...I tripped over their bathroom scale and almost landed face first into the toliet!

That wine was very much like candy for me....Thankfully MIL was drinking just as much...

OMG- I was trying to catch up but I saw this and had to stop because I couldn't stop laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see it now in slow motion......imagine if you HAD landed face first in the toilet? And I like your MIL very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kurt and I ran away for a few days and you know what? He stole my Hasslehoff book and didn't give it back! I think he has a secret crush :P OMG-the writing in it, even to my Lymied brain , is PAINFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of candy, I have a weakness for toffee around the holidays, there's this little locally owned candy shop that makes the best to die for buttery little squares of toffee goodness dipped in fine chocolate and nuts.....I ate many between Thanksgiving and Christmas

And OMG, did you notice Crate and Barrell, or was it Williams Sonoma...can't rember, had MARSHMALLOWS wrapped in CARAMEL??? Genius!! I stayed far away from these however.

I also LOVE Sound of music, such a great movie

Good Morning, Amanda! :)

Well, me and old musicals...can't live without 'em. But I have to admit, SOM is my least favorite. I've tried and tried over the years...sigh. Really good, historically gripping story, but the music...bah. Love Julie's yodelling, however, and the marionnette scene is terrific... :D

Good Morning Emily!

How are you on the last day of 2007?

Darn210 Enthusiast

OK, if we're voting . . . I like SOM . . . favorite song is Edelweiss.

But NOW we're talking candy . . . absolutely all time favorite is toffee. If it is around, I can not stay away from it.

Seems a little early for gardening. Does that mean that you've already got you Christmas stuff down, Sarah? And has anybody heard if the special adhesive garland (ie, duct tape) was all that Alex needed to finish off her tree?

And shame on me....I bought another box of the chocolate gummi bears yesterday.....I hid them though after I had a few...

Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms

Cristiana makes a good point and it's something I've pointed out at different times on the forum. Not all of our ailments as those with celiac disease are necessarily tied to it. Sometimes we need to look outside the celiac box and remember we are mortal humans just like those without celiac disease.

Also suffer badly with gluten and TMJD, cutting out gluten has been a game changer, seems to be micro amounts, much less than 20ppm.  Anyone else have issues with other food stuffs? Soy (tofu) and/or milk maybe causing TMJD flare-ups, any suggestions or ideas? --- I'm beginning to think it maybe crops that are grown or cured with glyphosphate. Oats, wheat, barley, soy, lentils, peas, chickpeas, rice, and buckwheat, almonds, apples, cherries, apricots, grapes, avocados, spinach, and pistachios.

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette
