Well, Emily, I hate to inform you of this, but you are NOT celebrating a "family day"!!! You are indeed celebrating the US Open Original Shared Link. They probably thought you Canucks might not be inclined to participate if they told you what it really was.

Alex - ugh on the double whammy :(

LOL Emily @ latest av & caption. I've always enjoyed Jess's sig too.

Now .. . ... ..here's an interesting proposition that came my way this morning.

Shelly invited me to go to Tahoe toMORRow for a couple days! :o

Her 9yo is all into snowboarding and she has access to a cabin.

Wish I was feeling more travel-worthy :( but I'm ~30% right now on going.

If I were anywhere near as consistently great as the 1st 4 months soy-free I'd go, no question.

Another plus is that I might also spend Tues/Wed in Fernley NV w/ Teresa (old girlfriend) & Nic&Nat. (For the newer sillies, I've known both kids well since birth & love 'em dearly. Their father's never been a part of their lives)

This sidetrip would mean taking my car separately, but since Shell's talking about leaving @6am tomorrow, that's not such a bad thing. ;)

So I really gots me some ponderin' to do!

Well, Tom, I say go, as long as you have your phone with you at all times so that you can be checking up on Michelle.:lol::rolleyes:

Actually, you will be away and distracted from her crossing of the finish line, likely late Wednesday. Me, however, with next to no life, will have no conflicts here...I will be watching obsessively.

President's Day, huh? We have no Prime Ministerial Day here, so you must be correct, Janet. "Family Day" sounds so middle-of-the-road, politically correct, sappy....so Canadian....:ph34r:

OMG...There is no way I could be there.....I would be frantic. Having to pee every two minutes, the butterflies lurching in my stomach, tears streaming down my face as her sled comes into sight...leaping up and down, screaming....

Still wanna be there with me? Ya gotta be screaming right along with me..... :D;)

Bev! What a terrific avatar! Fab looks fab!

Hey .. . .no poop-in from dingoland today?

Does this mean Dingy was out up past 3am??

I bring this up because I'm about to say .. . . .the Green Phaerie is in the house!!!!!!!:wacko::lol:

Couldn't find the local one anywhere, so instead of driving up to Alameda (next to Oakland) to buy strrrrrrrrrrraight from the distillery, we got the Swiss Absinthe. (see new av)

I have strep throat and an ear infection-- boooo  . It came on very quickly. Started antibiotics today so I should be feeling better soon. I was throwing up last night and I was thinking how unfair it is to puke when you have a sore throat. A painful combination <_< .

Yikes!!! NO fun at all. I've had one after the other before but not at the same time! Feel better soon!

Just had to share with you all, thanks for all your support today.

Sounds like a great shoot!! Can't wait to see the final results!

I shall email BIL and tell him about the virtual following of Michelle. She actually is quite an underdog (pun intended)...Some illness/injury during last year, of her and her lead dog, plus being female, no one expected much to be happening with her for this race. In fact, her being in it at all caused many seasoned mushers to raise eyebrows. LOVE IT!! You go, grrrrrrrrlll! :)

Okay, I just may have to check this out...sounds VERY exciting!

So why do cats look like aliens when wet??:lol:

 Do you do your kitties fur up like AMy's...

Go! The fact that you can even consider going after how sick you were is pretty amazing really!

Still wanna be there with me? Ya gotta be screaming right along with me..... :D;)

I'm not Ptaum, but sure DOES sound like fun.

I'd lean towards going--and I can completely relate to why you are hesitating ;) Since you'll have your own car, it'll make it easier to stop if you need to, etc. I bet you end up having a good time :)

Who will provide the summary please :P?

Gawd--where to start..... :blink::lol:

I love your new avatar--it cracked me up! :P

I've always been very curious to know what it tastes like..you'll have to describe it!

Absinthe........Hmmmmmmmm.

How about this as the new budgie's name? He's the green that I would picture absinthe to be....it has kind of a lovely sound. I like it. The kids will probably pull another one of these, however:

Mornin' Nikki!

Frosty morning here, as well...Gus is out rolling in the snow like a real circus performer: pouncing on some imaginary thing with both front legs straight and extended, then crashing onto his side and flipping back and forth, snow flying everywhere. Methinks he is trying to make a dog angel.

SO! Here's a quick tidbit from the Yukon/Alaskan news feed that came out when Michelle and the guy she's chasing came into Dawson...He's only twenty minutes ahead of her.....GO, MICHELLE!!!

OMG- are you all talking about the IDIOTarod? Is Michelle using poodles? Snoodles (snowy poodles)? Pekinese? Chihuahuas? OMG- imagine like 50 chihuahuas pulling an Iditarod sled- It would sound like this:

"Yip Yip Yip!"

"Mush!"

Let Angus pull a sled and he'd sound like Chewbacca! Wish we could download audio or videos here because when he talks he sounds like a Wookie!

I'm not sure what this really means but I laugh anyway!

Susie violated the rules of her contract by not reporting in yesterday and will be subject to a SEVERE punishment (like being licked to death by 10 Chinese crested dogs).:lol::o

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

Thank you for the information ill will definitely bring it into practice .

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow
