Em the brain is on the way, you will have some help in your busy day, I don't need it that much.

Amanda, thank gawd you don't need it today...I have a great deal of mental processing to do...parking @ hospital, keeping knees, elbows and wrists appropriately lined up in a peripheral arc for my backswing....you know, the regular stuff. <_<

1. Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener. (Aisle 9)

2. Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo. (Aisle 7)

3. Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab.

4. Your wife is pregnant. Twins. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer.

5. If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better!

Thank you for shopping @ Wal- Mart

OMG.....great stuff. :lol::lol:

Sarah is absolutely right- and she needs an arse kicking. I'm bored these days so send her my way. I can only use one arm BUT my legs are still in kicking shape! OH YEAH!

Bev, you should be golfing with Jack and I. Honest to gawd, there was a young man there at the driving range with ONE arm, making these incredible shots. Just ridiculous...I don't know this was possible, as I stand there and struggle to make contact with the ball at all.

Emily- Perhaps after your busy day you can (I'm so scared to post this but it IS art  )

I am speechless. :lol::lol:

Imagine that in one's living room....

Almost as crazy as my penis earrings. Don't wear them often, but when I do, the reactions are....hmmmm...noteworthy.... :o:lol:

. . .. Besides my yuppie Cape Cod July 4th fantasy I also often imagine myself at the Kentucky Derby sipping Mint Juleps and wearing a ridiculous hat.

Ooooo the Derby!!!!!!!

Save me a seat!

.. . .My brother is a great artist and I'm really loving seeing how his and my mom's style are so similar. Can't wait for Colin to see for himself!

Veeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting!!

And FUN!!!! :)

........perhaps we did NOT wait long enough. . .. .

. . ...

all right........we'll try it again, another time.

You know you must. <stern face> (is there an appropriate lil face for this?)

15min may be overkill by a few min, but you've already tasted underkill.

And even if you STILL somehow  don't like it, well dammit, have 3 or 4 ANYway!!!!!!

Embrace the Phaerie!!!!

........I HAVE TO KNOW what fragrances they wear - they get them custom-made, you know.......drives me mad... because I"ll NEVER be able to know and smell them (this cracks David up, BTW)

This should crack EVERYone up, imo.

Has Pseuzee EVER run into anyone else who thinks this way????????:wacko:

dear gawd.......... put a bunch of pictures in w/ unknown people's faces......drive them mad (cackling face)

So, along with all of the running around yesterday, The Ripper and I managed to squeeze in a beginner semi-private golf lesson (!).

Heeheehee

I've figured for years I'd eventually re-try golf. Sure won't be able to run hoops when I'm 70.

Keep on that high road you always travel.

Judy and the others are right on, Amanda.....people like this girl are very insecure individuals and they feel better by making others feel bad. Shame on her

ME TOO! 'Tis a dream of mine, to be at all three of them before I die.... :)

Heeheehee

I've figured for years I'd eventually re-try golf. Sure won't be able to run hoops when I'm 70.

Exactement. This is why I'm putting myself through these impossible, frustrating lessons - so I''ll have something I can do when I'm seventy. No, eighty.

Only you Bev! How the heck do you sit on it?......in it......can't quite figure that out....

It's just so big and....scary.

 Oh... mah... gah... this makes me sooooooo mad. She sounds like one of those WRETCHED girls I went to school with who can't stand to have attention away from herself. She always has to say something that really shrieks, "Look at me, look at me!"

It was a snotty thing to to say Amanda, but try not to take it too personally. With people like that, it's never about you, it's always allllllll about them.

Well said Sarah....the bird does indeed need 'er arse kicked

The Ripper and I managed to squeeze in a beginner semi-private golf lesson (!). This is a truly admirable sport, but equally ridiculous and painstaking. I would love to be able to competently make my way around eighteen holes throughout a summer, and it is a sport that one can play until death, but I just don't think it's calling my name. Too many bloody things to remember all at once to make the ball travel well...."Consistent trajectory, backward bend, lateral spine tilt, quiet body".... Ha!! Quiet body...That's a good one....

We've got two more lessons, and then you may be seeing me on the big circuits.

 Tiger Woods ..WATCH OUT!!!

All this romantic absinthian talk is making me SO jealous- I wanna try it!!!!!!!!!!

Ridgewalker Contributor

Loooordy, it just keeps gettin' better.

Ezra actually is feeling a lot better, but I finally had to drag my arse to the doctor today. I have a doozy of a sinus infection this time. Amoxacillin at double the dose she normally has me take, plus steroids because my throat is so inflamed I can barely swallow liquid, nasal spray.... oh yeah, and I have pink eye. So eye drops for that.

Came home, crashed in bed for about an hour, and woke up to the answering machine.... I could hear it from the other room, and it was Luke's teacher. "Lucas is having... stomach problems... you need to come get him as soon as possible, please." Anyone want to babysit a glutened 7-year-old?

Yeah, so anyway...

Did you guys hear about that woman who lived in her boyfriend's bathroom for two years? When he finally called the police/paramedics, they had to take the toilet seat with her to the hospital. They were able to remove it from her body at the hospital. Undiagnosed Celiac, maybe?

Oh Sarah- You're STILL taking it in the pants. I'm SO SO sorry. I would offer to babysit but well, you know. They really should have some kind of child-safe sedative that you can give your kids when you're sick so EVERYONE Can sleep. Hmmm....a shot of absinthe? Children do LOVE faeries! :P :P

That is SO wonderful, Alex! A celebratory treasure trove....a very special time capsule. Makes me think I should be putting my scribbled notes and sketches, my favorite photos and little knicknacks, away to be opened by my own daughter in what....fifty-odd years.... :)

Yes, yes, yes, definitely do this! It's such a gift. Not only for your daughter, but for any kids she may have. I can't wait to show all of this stuff to any children I have so they can feel like they actually knew their grandma on some level. I found an unfinished medical school application in the box . . . my dad didn't even know that she contemplated going into medicine.

So today at work we were talking about how we dont really like the moving situation in our office, and I said how I was feeling isolated and stuff. This one chick looks at me and says youre a stalker.....I almost bawled. I know she might be joking but it sounded horrible. It was a mean thing to say in my eyes....

What a meanie ! Sorry you have to work with such a toxic person.

Loooordy, it just keeps gettin' better.

You've really been going through the wringer lately! I hope things settle down for you guys ASAP and that you and your little guy feel better quickly.

Ridgewalker Contributor

Thanks Bev and Alex. :D I think things will get much better when Spring sets in.

I've said many times that there should be a nice safe sedative for little kids that you can use for when the Mom gets sick.

:( Thank God it's almost Friday!!!

Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.
    • knitty kitty
Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?
    • knitty kitty
Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
    • lizzie42
Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!
