P.S. It kinda blows my mind that you'd go to Phx voluntarily when it's 112F  , unless it's just a pit-stop on the way to Sedona or other cooler spots.

Edit P.P.S. OK, maybe I'm badmouthing it too much. I just didn't have much fun at all in my recent 2yrs there. As long as you're visiting someone whose company you enjoy - well, I guess that's a good enough reason to brave the pounding relentless demon sun.

 I, living in a desert, am in TOTAL agreement with Ptaum. I totally don't understnad why people go to Palm Springs, Phoenix, any desert region in the freakin' summer, of all things. I HATE THE HEAT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :huh: rant over.

Just a couple of days ago I read AAA's "Via" magazine, there was some fab hotel in Phoenix (or was it Palm Springs? Have dingo'd it) and I read the article in fascination.........as it reported that this hotel's busiest season was summer. What in hell, I though to myself. well, all guests reportedly spend virtually ALL DAY in the hotel's pool........many families eating all three meals poolside, never leaving.

Um, I'll just stay in my air-conditioned house, thank you veddy much, and travel to these hellholes in the dead o' winter.

 Editing to fix the date--at first, I typed "1772"! I ain't quite that old :D

 No you ain't!

Am currently experiencing a moment of...........pleasant boredom? Not ennui...........not quite apoplectic boredom.............'tis a new thing. Playful boredom? Contented ennui? dunno yet........

OMG........This relentless desert heat sounds every bit as bad as the unimaginable stuff DH had to live (and work) through in August and September '04, when hurricanes Jean and Ivan tore a devastating path of destruction across the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and The Bahamas. He flew down and worked through all the insurance claims with a disaster relief organization. There was no electricity anywhere, (no refrigeration or air condidtioning), and sooooooooo tropically humid....August in these islands is easily over 100 F, and the heaviest of tropical air........I don't quite know how he managed.

Still.....I might have enjoyed being invited along....lying on some beach.......

No such luck.

Hopefully next time!

Okay, folks, I have exposed myself. I mean, the cloaking device is off and I am not anonymous. What did you think I meant?

Interesting things are happening in our little world. As you know, we are losing both of our part-time employees. C worked his last shift tonight, and will drop by tomorrow to trade his key for a paycheck. H works her final shift tomorrow morning. We get an evening together and a relaxed morning for what may be the last time in a while. :(

We are interviewing someone tomorrow afternoon who looks good on paper, but knows nothing of our business. It will take weeks to train her, but she would be permanent.

Out of the blue yesterday, we got a resume from a university student. Now, we don't normally hire summer students because it takes too long to train them to get any return on investment before they go back to school. But this guy has had summer jobs in 2005 and 2006 at our store. It was a corporate store then, so we would have to teach him what things we as franchisees do differently. But total training cost would be very low, so a summer hire might make sense in this case. :)

There is an ancient Chinese curse I have been told: "May you live in interesting times." Hmmm.

A "think about this" post is coming. Watch this space. B)

There's not a lotta there there, but you might want to visit Scottsdale's Old Town district and/or Tempe's Mill Ave.

Oh wait .. . .didn't you say you'd like the dry heat? There are good hiking parks all around. Lemme know how much you like heat after that.<_< (Bring 3x the amount of water you'd expect)

Here's list of other Phx stuff Open Original Shared Link

Thanks!

Nah ... Phx, Scottsdale, Tempe etc all adjacent.

Um, NO, I'm going for a Drs appointment. I figured I'd take advantage of being there and see or do something.

:lol: This made me giggle, transporting things to and fro.

And what is Annie doing whilst this is happening? Is she laying down with her head on a swivel watching you go to and fro, or is she passed out somewhere else in the house??

No, you both have your clothes on. Get nekked, take and post another pic, and then maybe we can talk about pornography eroticism.

Tho passionate, I'm sure, a forceful nose-smushing kiss wouldn't be rated beyond PG-13 by even Dana Carvey's ChurchLady.

Yes, the Jack Nicholson method. ;)

I'm checking out another "Music in the (other) Park" .. .. .eh the opener is just a duo. New av anyway ;)

I saw this on another board that I still read, but haven't posted to in years, in the middle of a flame war about legal liability. It struck a chord with me, and I think it will with you. Two posts later a moderator locked the thread. I'm glad it lasted long enough for this to get posted. If you want the link, send me a PM--I don't think it would be a good fit here.

Obituary of the late Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; life isn

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
