Nikola.....I think Tiger Pig should maintain his well earned place of honor. Perhaps he should "rest" in the closet on Mums visiting days. You know how that feels, don't you?....that insane desire to rest in the closet during family visits?:lol:

Krank up the Krankeeeeee (wheeeee). I certainly enjoy a good Krankee once in a while

This morning a guy on the bus was telling the story of his 7 year old who's had his blankie his entire life. It's now the size of a hand towel and he has no intention of giving it up.

Dunno what made me think of that

My Mum thinks I should put TIGER PIG into retirement :o:o

She thinks he deserves it after a long service and is looking a tad threadbare :o:o:o

Hah! That's nothing! My 23 year old daughter still has and uses hers. It was knitted by her aunt and is still in one piece. Always the first thing she packed for sleepovers, and now it goes on trips with her :P

Gotta love the post dental dribble slur <_<

....and that's the thing wiv dentists - they ALWAYS find summat else wrong  (like mechanics really .....KA-CHING!! )

Well, I haven't been to the dentist in quite some time thanks to a lack of health insurance, and he showed me the cavity, it was quite apparent. I didn't doubt him at all. He actually complemented me on my dental hygiene. This cavity was obviously slow-going and has been there for some time, according to how long it's been sensitive to cold. I'm glad he caught it. I know a lot of dentists are like that though.

DingoGirl Enthusiast
Tooth update: I also have a new cavity I wasn't aware of, and as my filling situation is neither dire nor painful, I will be returning to Le Dentiste next Wednesday with lawnmower man in tow to drive my whiny sorry a$$ home. Novocaine in two different places can make me a bit muddled. And I can just imagine getting pulled over and saying "Yesh Osshifer?" Not sure why I should be so whiny though, I did have all four wisdom teeth removed surgically at the same time, you'd think this would be a walk in the park. I just hate those novocaine shots....

Heinous but yes, you should be able to handle it!! ;)

I have to get my mouth fully numbed, meaning two trips as they can only numb one side at a time (else you might chew yer tongue off er summat  ) just for the CLEANINGS for Peter's sake <_<:( a horrifying experience - the cleanings - -

Have you considered sedation dentistry? They can gas you, clean your teeth, and you ne'er feel a thing, and then your mouth isn't numb all day.

May I ask why you need numbing for a cleaning? :(

May I ask why you need numbing for a cleaning? :(

:( because I have no enamel on back molars, exposed roots/nerves? and severe gum recession in back - - thrice a year ( by advisement) cleanings are terribly painful but necessary.

I CHOOSE to go to the dental college here, MUCH better cleaning than medieval Western Dental, which is covered under my plan. Very thorough cleaning and full x-rays for $20. Far superior (and very long and arduous, but worth it) to the very superficial cleaning in any dentist's office.

But heinous :( they do NOT offer that superbly fabulous laughing gas, or sedation....had that laughing gas for seven years in Monterey, practically even if I just went by to say HI. Most phab thing ever, took me RIGHT to my magic place and....I used to ask them if I could just buy a tank of that stuff and carry it 'round with me all the time.

Where's Jules???? MUST tell her of the cutest movie I watched tonight!!! (Noel, w/ Penelope Cruz - trite and predictable but enjoyable)

Good final 2008 morn, Psillies!!

I dunno if I'm happy or not to see the end of this year......some great things, wonderful life/family events as per usual (I'm a very lucky girl with a wonderful life :) ), mixed with some not-so-great stuff, methinks. The passage of time, at this point in the game for me, brings a feeling of melancholy, perhaps of quiet despondence, as the clock ticks on . . . .. .....if I'm lucky, I'm about halfway through .. .. . ...:mellow:

'Nuff!! 'Nuff!! Boy, think I'll be having a few drinks tonight. . . . ...

Oh, dear gawd. . ....:lol: You would be larfing SO much more if you knew her!

Actually, I could perhaps see this, really, if she stumbled upon CBC radio and began to hear Shostakovich or Rachmaninov..... ..hmmm......nope, she would not. That would be ME. MIL would never turn up a radio to bask in the glory of swelling music of ANY kind. EVAH. <_<

But she is quite hard of hearing, so there may be something to this. . .......must ponder. Car goes to the dealership Friday.

YES!! Somewhere without MIL!!!! A small gathering at my oldest friend's home. Wine, fattening nibblies, and in the background (joy! NOT MIL's voice!) the Canada-U.S. Junior hockey match-up. You Yanks must all watch wif me. . . ....... :)

I made it through the holiday w/o being glutened. I had my brother cook with gluten-free breadcrumbs and I didn't get sick. I baked cookies with gluten-free flour and had dry ingredients for cookies in ziplock bag. I also made gluten cookies as well and guess I did good washing to avoid CC. My wife also went to a french bakery and bought a gluten-free flourless chocolate cake dedicated gluten-free it was out of this world.

What do you mean it would not allow any celiac to eat gluten again. I think if this helps cross contamination when eating out at a non dedicated gluten-free restaurant this would be nice not to encounter the pains. But is their a daily enzyme to take to help strengthen the digestive system?

Hi, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, no other antibody tests were ordered. I am a 32-year-old male. About two months ago, I ate pancakes and then developed severe diarrhea that lasted the entire day. At night, I became unconscious due to fluid loss and was admitted to the ER, where I received IV fluids. Two days later, I ate bread again and once more developed severe diarrhea. I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
