I just had yogurt :o

I've had such a craving for it since I discovered the "new" Enjoy Life granola--I can't even stand it. I bought a lil' tub (a ho-tub?) of Fage greek yogurt and topped the cereal wif half of the container of yogurt.

Gawd--this stuff is good! I went dairy phree long before gluten-free, so I wasn't sure if I would even like it anymore....I went dairy phree thinking that was contributing to my stomach problems, and just never went back to eating it. I was skeered :P

So....I should know soon if this was a good idea

It was a most enjoyable experiment though, I must say! :D

Hi Sills :)

Patti, thanks so much for the thoughts, Judy, and Em too

Em, I meant to say yesterday that I was so thrilled to get a friend request last week form The Ripper on the Book. It made me smile.

Hi mimommy/Rachel. Welcome to Sillyville. It's a warm, cozy, and funny place!

Patti!!! OMG, I hope it sits well with you. That would be fantastic if you could tolerate a little dairy.

So what is on everyone's Easter menu?

Gah!

I have no clue what I am going to do and I have to figure it out TODAY.

Julie--honestly since it's just Mark and I for Easter, I think we'll go to Changs. They treated us so well last week and everything was so good that I'd really love to go back. I'll probably either make a lemon pie (thanks, Nik) or a lemon cake, though, since it won't seem like a holiday if I don't make sumphin' :P

What are you making? I'll bet its going to be most yummie, whatever it is :D

Em--what's the latest on yer dad?

Patti, Changs as in PF Changs?

And Lemon Pie?? Nik posted a recipe? Must go bother Nik for said Lemon Pie recipe

Right now I am thinking I might do Salmon Patties with a Creamed Pea Sauce.

I eat chicken all the time, can't do beef or pork or lamb or turkey. So, I thought something like that would be different and festive.

Main course, check. Now to figure out the side dishes and dessert.....and to track down Nikki for lemony goodness recipe

Amanda, if you are around....thinking of John for his surgery tomorrow

And big (((HUGS))) to you, hope you are holding up ok with everything.

Brain barely sparking , kids off school for two WEEKS!!! - where's me psillie GONE?!?!?!?

Gknikkeigh! Where IS your silly? has it run off with mine? <_<

I have about........30 percent silly today. And....that is 29 percent more than I had yesterday, so I"ll take it.

HUGE HUGE HUGE family drama going on in Minnesota, involving drug addiction, insanity, embezzling and losing millions, :o divorce, and I just found out about it today. Been going on for three years. Yeah, we're quite close. <_<

Takin' lessons from the Suze. Told my boss he was a smart-a$$.

oh

wait

Suze is only partially employed

..........................must look for more appropriate role model<_<

    x 500

this gave me a HUGE guffaw........yes Geoss, try and remember that....I"ve known my boss 20 years.....we have a very inappropriate brother-sister relationship.....and yes, I"m partially employed and could pretty much not get fired, no matter what I do

He's now about about 1 1/2 years old, weighs in at about 80 lbs. He's convinced he's a lap dog, and likes to have his hand held. Max enjoys long walks and quiet romantic evenings at home He steals kitty food and even sneaks a bite from the litter box now and then

:o Um.......are you talking about my Weezee here? This sounds EXACTLY like her!

she is a romantic hand-holder at all times......greets everyone with a paw that they must hold, a passionate and endearing, gripping stare that friends have declared says "love me love me love me love me LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME"

 and I do

This might sound completely lame, but I finally got the guts to put a photo in my profile. I went poking around in some other members profiles (Ha! I know what you look like now.) and checking out blogs and such. I wanted to see who was doing what, who I was talking to--and might I say, what a handsome lot you are. I guess I had a momentary lapse of my usual cynicism and inane/insane distrust of strangers, cuz I just went for it. Browsed my photos, hit open, and there I am. In all seriousness, I've been bothered by a weirdo or two in my life, so please, if any psychos are lurking--leave me be. I attract freaks like, well, like a butt magnet attracts coins. The pic. I chose was taken at Soaring Eagle casino on our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago, at a Brad Paisley concert. Unfortunately, after the pixel downsize it looks like my lipstick is smearded all over my face. Oh well. They let me go out in public sometimes, but they don't always check my look for me.

Hi all me psillies, including newbie, Ray-chill!

Speaking of Easter.......looks like Nathan will be home by then. :) Just wish Briana could be with us. Did I tell you she's gonna make me a grandma? :D We found out right before Nathan's diagnosis. They'd been talking about marriage, but now it's moved up......but yet it's also delayed because of Nathan. Anyway......this is the main reason she has stayed at home.I didn't want her going thru the worst of the stress. And she has been taking care of the house and critters. Zeus, I guess, has been seriously stressed.

Keep up the psilly!!!! I'll be going home next week and will have a computer to meself, so I'll be on more frequently.

Love you all!!!!!

Seems like some of us are starting to crawl out of the un-psilly woodwork. Suze- You sound like me! I have about 20% of my psilly back which is about 19% more than yesterday. I do have a funny story- hope it's not a "you had to be there". My sis and nieces were over last night as it was the anniversary of my mom passing and somehow we started smelling their feet. Olivia (who is 5) had smelly feet and Nicole (who is 3) did not. So, we're teasing smelly-footed Olivia and she turns around, looks at us with her head cocked and her eyes crossed in a red neck kind of way and says "Yup, I'm starting to smell just like my daddy" in this bizarre accent. Died laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, there is also apparently a channel that tells you what it is doing outside, and what it will be doing tomorrow, and the next day... . . .... . you could have flipped onto it, Jyesss, and not had to look outside to decide your coat choice!

I love weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, check it out--I finally figured out how to upload an avatar. My man had to help me :o Brains, braun, and new laundry room cabinets, too ;) I'm not an idjut, but geez, too many pixels or something.

That's my dog Max, when he was just a wee pup.

Hello raychill!!!!!!! I love your pupster......so cute! And your pic is lovely too!

I shall not stalk you

Two big Easter dinners. ... . . . ...getting my dad (hopefully) home from the hospital today or tomorrow and settled back at home. .. .. . ...Jack's big junior lifeguard swimming challenge/test. .. .. .....gotta run outside and carefully hide a million chocolate eggs for my children who seem to NEVER outgrow this love for chocolate-searching. . . . . ... . . ..man....what else, now.. . . . .....

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.
    • Wheatwacked
Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.

Hopefully the food she eats away from home, especially at school, is 100% gluten-free. If you haven't checked in with the school directly about this, it might be worth a planned visit with their staff to make sure her food is safe.
