Well, once again I have missed the Big Show from Oahu. Got into the store about a quarter to twelve, got the laptop set up, tried to connect to the beach camera about five to, and it would not load and Firefox crashed. Tried again, and Firefox did an encore performance. Tried to restart Windows, but it hung and did not shut down. Phinally pressed and held "power off" and rebooted cold, and it is working, but Jess is long gone. :angry: :angry: :angry:

Dangitall!! Missed some really impo-tant stuffs!!! Just can't often get to the 'puter at work whenevah Iah wants! Gjshess......I tho't you was s'posed to pack up a bunch of us in yer sootcases! I always thought US defininitions of midWEST were absolutely crazy :P Ohio to me is in the midEAST, and Kansas is in the midDLE, and Utah is in the midWEST and Alaska is the west (and also the Antarctice). Psills, I just went to the funeral of my 97 year-old aunt, the last of my mother's family (all ten of them) and fully compus mentus and still avidly supporting the local rugby team, and whilst I was gone the last of my father's family (six of them) died too (at 92, the baby :o ) So that means my parents' entire generation is gone :huh: It feels such a loss, somehow, because although I am left with what started out as 42 first cousins, we don't have anything in common any more and they seem (and are) total strangers :blink::unsure: to me. Thank goodness one can choose one's phriends..... :)

I'm so sorry about your aunt, Shroomie. I know what you mean about the cousins, though. I haven't seen some of mine since I was a kid, and even the others I don't really have anything in common with either. The years go by and one day you look up and so much has changed......

This is so poignant, Shroomie... . . ......the last of a generation. But wow, what great genetic markers you have within you! All those dear relatives living into their nineties.... . . . ......right commendable! :)

Sounds so much like my own. My Dad in among the youngest in a very large family, and many of them are still going (his family seemed to have longevity....or maybe they all just seemed old when I was a kid). One of my sisters is tossing about the idea of family reunion (we used to do this when "us" were young...but not in many, many years), and is having a good time trying to track down "the cousins" (also 40 something...I forget how many). Could be a heck of a crowd if it can be pulled off...a lot of us not only have chilluns..but gran'chilluns, too....and we are all over the country!

Nana Kurley.....she'll be here in her own good time....just hope she doesn't keep y'all waitin tooooo long! How's the mama feeling?

Hey, gang!

Did Jyesss say she was flying home today? Cannot recall.. . ......man, I was looking at our globe, and did not realize until now how incredibly far away from all civilization those group of islands are.... . ..in the middle of the Pacific. I think Hawaii is actually closer to Japan than to the States!

Just threw a questionable-looking rump roast into trusty crockpot. Come six o'clock, I am hoping for a delectable, beefy masterpiece. Hope it does its magic!

Lee-sa....how's the baby watch? Anything happen overnight?

Sills--I'm sore in places I didn't know I had :o Last night we started putting an epoxy finish on the garage floor.....what a production! We had to etch it first (did this on Sunday) and then wash. By last night it was dry, so we mixed up the first batch of the stuff and ended up getting the floor about 2/3 done. All the edging is done (by moi) and it really looks incredible.

We'll finish it up tonight, and since we have the apartment till the end of the month we won't have to park on it for almost 2 weeks. Today, I have more packing to do.....every time we go over there, we load up the car.

Does Jess go home today? How cool was seeing her yesterday? :D:D

I'm in Waikiki til Saturday, but the conference starts tomorrow and today I have to change hotels. On Saturday I fly to Hilo for a few days, then drive to Kona. Don't come home til the 29th.

Man I missed a lot. Not paying attention to the date of Jyess's show, I was excited that it's approaching 9am, but alas, that was yesterday wasn't it, and now I'm depressed I missed the phun!

We were at the beach all weekend. 16 family members sharing one house and a freezer-full of booze. Needless to say, I didn't do much yesterday AT ALL. Thank God for rain, couldn't bear to look at the sun <_< My children learned a colorful new set of words, mostly revolving around the "F" word. I had to have multiple chats with them about appropriate language--sooooo praying ds doesn't drop an f-bomb at school today...... :huh:

Sorry about the lay-off's Sleoozin and Leeza, I hope things turn around quickly.

My children learned a colorful new set of words, mostly revolving around the "F" word. I had to have multiple chats with them about appropriate language--sooooo praying ds doesn't drop an f-bomb at school today...... :huh:

This reminds me of the time my two kids, around ages five and two, were downstairs arguing. Jack, only just beginning to talk in sentences, was giving Sophie regular hell for stepping on his Lego, or knocking his tower down.... . . . . ....I heard the yelling getting louder, back and forth, until Sophie suddenly screamed, "Oh, yah?? Well, EFF - YOO - KAY!!!"

When my older son was about 4, we were on a day trip with friends. The husband was good-naturedly teasing, and my son called him a "d%$#@#$bag" :lol:

The guy's mom was there and she very calmly looks over and said quietly "did he just say d%$#@#$bag? :lol::lol::lol:

I can laugh now--this had to be 25 years ago :P

When my dd was 4, we had just returned home from dinner with my potty-mouthed father. She walked in the house, accidently dropped her bag down the stairs and I heard "sh*t" My husband froze at the sink. Thinking I couldn't possible have heard her correctly I said, "Madeleine, WHAT did you say?" She said, "sh*t!" I said (louder), "What did you say?" Louder yet she said. "SH*T" Yelling now, I said "Madeleine Elizabeth WHAT DID YOU SAY?" yelling back now, annunciation every syllable, she said, "I----SAID---SH*T!!!!" My DH was doubled over at the sink laughing, and she turned the corner where I was and gave me a big smile, like, "you really wanted to know." I was trying so hard not to laugh while explaining to her papa has a foul mouth and she was not allowed to talk like him!!

      Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.

      And thank you for your encouragement. I am glad that her body is doing a good job fighting it. I also just want clarity for her moving forwards. She was only 6 for the last round of testing and she's 10 now, so I'm also hoping that makes a difference. It was weird during her last round of testing though, because right before her biopsy, we'd upped her gluten intake by giving her biscuits made from straight up vital wheat gluten, and her labs actually normalized slightly (lower ttg and her ema went negative). Bodies just do weird things sometimes! lol

      The first negative biopsy in 2021 just said "no pathological change" for all the samples, and the second one in 2022 said "Duodenal mucosa with mild reactive change (focal foveolar metaplasia) and preserved villous architecture." So I think Marsh score 0 in both cases, though it's not actually written in the pathology reports. I'm really hoping to get a clear positive result this time, just for her sake.

      Hopefully the biopsy gives a conclusive and correct diagnosis for your daughter. Im in the UK and have been in the situation a few years ago of trying to rule celiac in or out after inconclusive results. Many symptoms pointing to it including the classic symptoms and weight loss and folate and iron deficiency. You have to play a waiting game. I also had the label of IBS and likely food allergy. Genetic test showed low risk for celiac but not no risk. It sounds like the Gastroenterologist is on it and hopefully will diagnose what it is correctly. Food hypersensitivity (allergy) can also cause similar symptoms and inflammation as well as mimicking IBS. Milk / dairy and wheat (cereal grains) being the biggest culprits. The “oesophagitis” and “gastritis” you mentioned can be caused by another gastrointestinal disorder called “eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders”. These are named depending on which part of the gastrointestinal tract is affected. For example eosinophilic oesophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, and more rare eosinophilic colitis. They are antigen (allergen) driven. When the blood test measuring anti-ttg antibodies is positive in absence of a positive ema test - which is more specific to celiac, this can also suggest food hypersensitivity (allergy). Usually delayed type allergy similar to celiac but not autoimmune if that makes sense. In this case the ttg antibodies are transient. Which happens. I’ve first hand experience. For info, evidence of villous atrophy too can be caused by food hypersensitivity. Not just by celiac disease. In Egid disorders the six food elimination diet, under a dietitian and gastroenterologist care, is the dietary protocol to figure out the culprit or culprits. Sometimes only two food elimination diet is used at first. The number one culprit is milk protein / dairy. Followed by wheat, eggs, soy, fish and seafood, and nuts. Most are only reactive to one food group or two. Most are only reactive to milk. Hope this is a helpful reply.
