:lol::lol: Ra-shellle's got a five-day drunk planned... . . . ....

Cannot wait to hear the report of your visit at said in-laws, R... . .....perhaps you should show up at the house with a big satanic tattoo covering one arm, and "666" scrawled across your forehead. Stare menacingly at everyone the entire visit, and say nothing. Just moan quietly the odd time.

Um, router fixed. He came in, unplugged it, plugged it back in, and things were good.

Crrrrrrrraaaaaaap.. . . ....

Jeesh--fer the most part, one could hear a pin drop around here

Anywho, fer those still checkin in.....I'm taking advantage of Mark working late to start cookin fer the trip. I have a huge batch of ham and scalloped potatoes in the oven (some for later, some to freeze in to indy portions), mashed sweet potatoes wif maple syrup and butter, zucchini and onions, and I did a pot roast the other day.

Still have a couple more things to make but now I can easily finish over the weekend. Should get me to Joisey and through Thanksgiving Day till I can get to the store on Friday.

Of course this all hinges on the purchase of a car fridge.....said purchase to occur this weekend. I've managed to do wifout one till now......

I shoulda spoke up and said something. Last two times we couldn't get online hubby insisted it was the ISP's fault. The first time I said reset the router and he did, and minutes later it was working. Second time, he said no way it was the router (I can't crawl in to where the geniuses who built the house positioned it) and said to call the ISP. After half an hour online with HongKong or Mumbai or wherever (me, because he can't hear or understand them) we ended up with "reset the router" and guess what, another coincidence :o

The sweet potatoes and the turkey are no-brainers, but I need some ideas for the rest of it. Everything is sooooo.....predictable.........boring.

But I don't want to spend all day in the kitchen.....kills me back, it does.

Realized today that I am not working T-day. Was babbling on to my technician about who comes in when to start the experiment and suddenly realized that the Thursday experiments don't start until the following week. I'm like all happy and cheerful and my technician looks at me and says "You planned it this way. Don't you remember????"

No, I don't remember, but I am quite happy to discover that I occasionally plan ahead.

Goin' to m' bro's house. He said he doesn't know what his wife will be cooking, but there'll be plenty of wine, so I'm in.

I suppose I could, theoretically, be drunk for four days at least....

Rae-rae and I will have to call each other at the height of our intoxications.

......oh...wait....her iphone talks tiny. I'll have to find some loud speakers.

Crap........ .. just detest these simple li'l solutions, absolute no-brainers, that I fail to even consider, but the cha-ching techie sure knows about them. He walks in, unplugs, then plugs back in, smiles politely, then charges for an hour.

Going to Dad's for Thanksgiving . . . he hates turkey. So we are either having fried chicken (roasted chicken would look too much like turkey) or perhaps meatloaf (shaped in the form of a turkey? - would that be too much like turkey?).

Nikki - hope you can get to the bottom of Tel's issues . . . I'm getting worried. Keep us informed.

Em - love the new av.

Rayshell - holy crap (<--- get it? HOLY crap?) about them in-laws!!! So a five day drunk is not even a whole bottle of vodka??? Good luck with that trip.

Haven't been posting much but still reading. In case I miss the departure dates, I hope everyone has safe travels!!

Indy portions

We dodged a bullet--could have gotten 7+ inches of rain yesterday/today but only ended up getting 2 or so from some disturbance in the Gulf.....it's still grumbling thunder, but should start clearing up soon.

My little Lylie-bear is back!!

He had to go back to have a few random tooth chips taken out that were still causing him pain. I think he is pain free for the first time in about a year! He's been sitting on my lap and that hasn't happened for a very long time.

I suppose I'll know he's really back when he takes out that little upstart, Lefty.

So good to have the boys fighting. :)

Yes, Nikkers.... . ...... :( . . . ...please keep us in the loop re. Tel's health stuff. Very stressful for the lot o' you, I'm sure.

I am SO lucky -- I have an unbelievably healthy DH. Never sick, never injured (insert wood-knocking here).. . . .always on his game. I have very little to complain about with that guy, except his constant flatulence even gluten-free.

Oh, and there are some things that come along with him, part of the package, that warrant much grumbling (read: outlaws).. .... . ....... . ..

Oh! AND he does not notice when I get my hair cut.

Or lose five pounds.

AND he puts the toilet paper roll on the holder with the paper feeding over the top.

Gads, what I live with.

He can come live with me any time!! Isn't that what all sensible (as opposed to having been taught the "correct" way) do it?? That way you can see where the end is and don't have to go fumbling underneath or reach too far down (depending on positioning). *I* consider the underfeed to be the *wrong* way, so there!!!

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
