She said she started putting her makeup on and suddenly spit out 'Good God what happened???' She had no idea where all that droopy, wrinkly skin came from.

Happens to me when I pull out the magnification mirror to pluck me eyebrows. Woah  I try and do that as quick as possible and put the dang mirror the heck away <_<

One of the reasons I resisted wearing glasses for so long. The world, when viewed through a soft focus of myopia, is a much prettier place.

I have all this extra skin that I'm too aftraid to have cut off, so it hangs over my pants, it looks like there was too much liquid in my muffin mix <_<

I was laying on my side the other day and my ds saw my belly, he looked shocked and said "what is that?" I said it was my belly button. He didn't look convinced since you couldn't actually see where the belly button was, so I said, look what happens when I lay on my back--TaDaaaa, there it was. He said, "Mommy, you should always lay on your back!" <_<

Wow.. . . ...POeter didn't do a good enough job on the vacuuming, so Jacquie's put his balls in the oven... . . . ... ......wow, I knew there was some subtle kind of don't-mess-with-me aura about Jacquie when I met you two, but man, she don't mess around, do she??

Ugh... . . . my body when supine. ... . .......not a whole lot better than when it is vertical, I fear. Hmm... . .....perhaps we all should ask for one o' THESE in our stockings this year...

Well, after she got them all heated up they needed to cool off, so now they are in the freezer.

Next mission, starting soon: Pete's a gonna make pizza. :)

PeOters balls!!!!!!

Never get tired of hearing about them!

Peter is more in the dark than usual. Power went out on us a few minutes ago. My notebook is running on battery power, and the modem and router are running on battery backup too. Jacquie is calling the power company to report the problem.

The forecast for tomorrow morning's commute is snow. This will be the first fall of the season, and even though we get snow every year here, everybody forgets how to drive in snow over the summer. So not looking forward to driving to work in the morning.

My balls have been repackaged and are resting comfortably in the (temporarily inoperative) freezer.

PETER!!!!

Sounds like you're in for a c-c-c-cold night!.......balls and all!!!!!

Man, this is SO true. The first big blast of snow here (tomorrow and the next day -- 20 cm comin') brings out the same drivers among whom I travel all year, but they are suddenly new people... .. . .. ..unable to keep safe distances, all space perception gone, handling their vehicles like they's on rough, dry pavement.... . . .....GAH.

Off to the orthodontist this am. Jack popped a bracket off at the bowling lanes on Friday evening, and has been living all weekend with a loose wire sticking into his back gum. DH has a fantastically impressive collection of tools -- screwdrivers galore, every size and weight of hammer one can imagine, huge and tiny wrenches, and an amazing mix of pliers and cutters, from the teeny models used for.. . ..crap, I canna imagine -- fixing eyeglass hinges, I suppose. . ......to those for screwing in jet engine parts.

Do you think he has ONE needle-nosed cutter, out of the nine that are hanging in the tool room, that can reach and cut off this li'l wire in The Ripper's mouth? <_<

So the poor kid had to go the weekend sticking gum back there, candle wax etc., to cover the wire end. He apparently grabbed the nails scissors at one point and managed to bend it downwards a little. Excellent work. B)

Must look for a tenth little wire cutter that would do this job, and put it in DH's stocking. Or Jack's... ..

jerseyangel Proficient

Be careful out there, Canadian phriends :D Did you get yer power back, Peoter? Balls still frozen? B)

Poor The Ripper--can nae imagine the torture of having a wire constantly poking in me mouth :(

Not much new here--starting me last week in Joisey. Will be over-seeing a new toilet installation this week  We went over to my older son's house Saturday night and helped trim the tree. :D

Instead of buying a house, me thinks we should have 2 apartments. One here and one in Houston.

Pseriously.....

Power came back in the middle of the night. My balls are still frozen. The expected snow has not yet arrived, and traffic was light coming to the store this morning.

Psillies . . . a terribly unpsillie thing (at least today it is unpsillie) . . . an early Christmas present for Skeeter . . . the school nurse called and . . . someone has given her head lice. I have spent the last three hours combing through her hair (she's got very thick hair) after I cut about half of it of myself as the hair cut place would nae take her. I understand this but the poor child has lice AND a hair cut from her mother and I haven't even take the kids' Christmas picture yet!!!

As if I don't already have enough laundry to do . . . I'm now off to launder every single thing in this house that will fit in the washing machine.

Googling tells me it tends to be more of a girl thang . . . what wif the long hair . . . just two girls leaning in to look at the same book wif hair touching will do it, let alone sharing a comb or brush or trying on each others headbands or barettes. Smakl rarely tries on any of his phriends headbands.

GoOoOod morning, Psills!

How's the treatment going, J? I, as well, have managed to avoid the lice household infestation -- amazing, sometimes, as my young nephew and niece had them and we were all fraternizing, and a couple of class infestations have happened throughout the years.

Perhaps I have rubbed off my mysterious physiological bug repellent on me kids. For whatever the reason, I am NEVER bitten or bothered by mosquitos, no-see-ums, deerflies, etc. They will be swarming around others, and I barely have to swat any away.

Actually, now that I've written that out and read it, it really is quite strange.

If I were self-conscious and had significant self-esteem issues, I could see this making me crazy.

I have wondered about attributing it to the diabetes.. . . .....perhaps it makes my blood smell weird er sumfin'.

Hell, why aren't there wasps all around me, attracted by the corn syrup??

We wanna pic of Skeeter in her new 'do!

jerseyangel Proficient

Mornin' all B)

Interesting about the stinky blood, Em :P Ya never know.....I meselph am not bothered much by bugs/bugbites either. Mark, on the other hand, has gotten Lyme Disease from a tick and is severly allergic to bee stings (the sevarity of which may be lessened by 5 years of immunotherapy).

Am coming down wif a cold, compliments of son #1 and girlfriend <_< Me throat pheels like it's on phire :o Glad I did all the painting I wanted to do last week! :D

Jan-it....how's the laundry comin? :P

Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
    • deanna1ynne
And thank you for your encouragement. I am glad that her body is doing a good job fighting it. I also just want clarity for her moving forwards. She was only 6 for the last round of testing and she's 10 now, so I'm also hoping that makes a difference. It was weird during her last round of testing though, because right before her biopsy, we'd upped her gluten intake by giving her biscuits made from straight up vital wheat gluten, and her labs actually normalized slightly (lower ttg and her ema went negative). Bodies just do weird things sometimes! lol
    • deanna1ynne
The first negative biopsy in 2021 just said "no pathological change" for all the samples, and the second one in 2022 said "Duodenal mucosa with mild reactive change (focal foveolar metaplasia) and preserved villous architecture." So I think Marsh score 0 in both cases, though it's not actually written in the pathology reports. I'm really hoping to get a clear positive result this time, just for her sake.
    • Wends
Hopefully the biopsy gives a conclusive and correct diagnosis for your daughter. Im in the UK and have been in the situation a few years ago of trying to rule celiac in or out after inconclusive results. Many symptoms pointing to it including the classic symptoms and weight loss and folate and iron deficiency. You have to play a waiting game. I also had the label of IBS and likely food allergy. Genetic test showed low risk for celiac but not no risk. It sounds like the Gastroenterologist is on it and hopefully will diagnose what it is correctly. Food hypersensitivity (allergy) can also cause similar symptoms and inflammation as well as mimicking IBS. Milk / dairy and wheat (cereal grains) being the biggest culprits. The “oesophagitis” and “gastritis” you mentioned can be caused by another gastrointestinal disorder called “eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders”. These are named depending on which part of the gastrointestinal tract is affected. For example eosinophilic oesophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, and more rare eosinophilic colitis. They are antigen (allergen) driven. When the blood test measuring anti-ttg antibodies is positive in absence of a positive ema test - which is more specific to celiac, this can also suggest food hypersensitivity (allergy). Usually delayed type allergy similar to celiac but not autoimmune if that makes sense. In this case the ttg antibodies are transient. Which happens. I’ve first hand experience. For info, evidence of villous atrophy too can be caused by food hypersensitivity. Not just by celiac disease. In Egid disorders the six food elimination diet, under a dietitian and gastroenterologist care, is the dietary protocol to figure out the culprit or culprits. Sometimes only two food elimination diet is used at first. The number one culprit is milk protein / dairy. Followed by wheat, eggs, soy, fish and seafood, and nuts. Most are only reactive to one food group or two. Most are only reactive to milk. Hope this is a helpful reply.
