Me thinks I have too much vodka still in me stomach to stomach this poo and loo discussion :P A sales rep took us (work peeps) out to a pub last night for all you can eat and drink. I'm not sure he knew what he was getting himself into--or us, since we all had to be at work this morning by 0630. We've lost one already, he went up to surgery (to work) and hasn't come back. Me thinks he may be sucking on an oxygen tank somewhere....

Wish you all could join me this weekend, Madeleine and I will be baking up a gluten-free storm Saturday and Sunday so if yer in the Portland area, please stop by :) It's supposed to snow tonight, so we'll see....Furnace was frozen again this morning. Twas out at 0530 with my hair dryer trying to thaw the thing out while dh was all snugglie warm in bed <_<

Happy Friday!!!

Wish I was bakin fer partehs, but alas, it's just for me and Madeleine, we love to eat :P

Our house is 95 years old and the furnace we had last year I'm pretty sure had been there for 95 years <_< , but we had this massive snow storm the week before Christmas last year and were all stuck in the house for a solid week. Furnace was working fine, BUT the week after Christmas the damn thing died and we replaced it with a snazzy new one. The warranty is out mid Jan, so I guess it's good it happened now....

I need to come up with a good name for my blankie now too, per Knick ;);) gots to wake up more phirst...maybe sum help: it's brown, thick and hairy fuzzy :lol:

Well now, there is a tale behind my blankies moniker...t'was bought as a gift for the middle boy. With the blankie came a pillow (in the shape of a pig)...the blankie had stripes..... so was only natural that he called it Tiger Pig  The pillow didn't make it past the first machine wash...but the blankie LIVES ON!!

(he never got to use it much 'cos ..... what with the cats...... and...umm.....ME  )

I suggest you ask the kiddos!!.... they come out with such original ideas! :D

Yes..... .. . .I hear that one can garner a great collection of jewellery in exchange for a number of things.. . . ....... <_<

'Mornin', Peeps!

I've been thinking a lot of Amanda... . . .... :( ..... .. is she on Da Book very often? Must check in there more often.

Mornin' marshmallow candies Peeps,

Delousing is coming along. Skeeter is a mayonaise head today (a home remedy recommended by the pediatrician until it's time for the next formal RID shampoo session). She's handling it all so well, then hubby is taking pictures of her while she was getting mayo'd. We both ripped into him!!! He thought it would be nice to have to "remember this" by . . . first of all, we're not going to forget . . . second of all, who really wants to remember this!!!

Lisa's got jewelry!!! . . . Personally, I'd rather have the snowblower :P . . . Maybe I'll get hubby some jewelry and he'll get me a snowblower.

You could always wear a spare part to the snowblower around your neck as jewelry . . . it will certainly catch the attention of the male population. How many men would say "hey, that's a pretty ruby necklace you have?" . . . but if you're wearing a snowblower part . . . "Hey, is that the starter handle off of a Model# 88846 Craftsman Professional 420cc 45" path Two-stage Snowblower?" . . . much more eye-catching me thinks. Plus, it would look good with your penis earrings.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
