Well, I guess it was too late to tell you to run for the hills, because your fridge somehow  anticipated this phlipover and the milk started leaking (from a bag??? izzat how it comes in Canada?) ahead of time, real sneaky like, and the repairman cost so many bucks you didn't even care what size his thumbs was :o

All right, I need input as to whether or not this would qualify as phluid onslaught.... . . .you may be able to rest easy, pholks, as phluid indeed flowed here and caused a calamity, of sorts:

Last evening I heard a strange, rattling noise coming from the fridge. It got quite loud, and slowly abated (thank gawd) by the time we went to bed. Well, this morning the fridge wasn't working. I looked carefully inside, and a bag of milk that was sitting on the back of the upper shelf had been slowly leaking, and it was almost empty. It had run all down the back, into the freezer (which is on the bottom) and sat, pooling and freezing. So, the fridge had to be ripped apart by a $$$$$$$$ repairman this afternoon, and the fan and compressor chipped out of the ice milk.

Okay, so phlowing phluids happened here! Destructive, icy phluids! it's gotta count!

Phlowing phrozen bovine phluid! :o

Hmm... from the Urban Dictionary (for dose not out dere on da streets) ;)

Drop a dime:

To snitch on someone. Often, to save their own ass. Comes from the old cost for a payphone call, ten cents.

To narc somebody out, like Huggy Bear always does on Starsky and Hutch.

Huggy Bear's always dropping a dime, I can't believe he's still alive.

To rat someone out. As in telling the police about a drug deal.

Imma drop a dime on these niggaz.

So if ya only drop a nickel, does someone drop a dime on you???

Yes! Methinks Canada is the only country that offers this bit of packaging variety. We have the option of buying a big package of three litREs of milk that come in three separate bags. One places the bag in a special milk-bag-holding container, snips one corner of the bag to pour, and there we have it.

Quite lovely, until one of the *!#%#1* bags leaks down the back of yer fridge.

It clearly needs some work rolleyes.gif

Still catching up, how IS everyone??

How do you close that up? If you had Mexican in the fridge or leftover cinnamon rolls, your milk would taste like that.

This is an interesting query. . . . .. . .. . ..For whatever the reason, that is NEVER a problem. I keep raw and cooked fish in the fridge, smelly, garlicy leftovers. .. . . ....never does our milk taste phunny. Perhaps sumfin' in the plastic....... . . . . ..

So, it's a Commonwealth Milk Packaging System! Except... . . ..NZ apparently does not partake. . .. . ... . .I wonder if it was invented in the UK or over here? Probably across the pond - - we Canucks don't have many exciting claims to fame when talking about inventions.

Well....except for these astonishingly impressive must-haves:

The automatic steam-driven foghorn

Instant mashed potatoes

The bloody Mary

The table-top hockey game

Man, what in hell would the world be like without us Canucks thinkin' up these things??

Hi Psilles,

Just reading through all of the posts I've missed. Ever find out what died in your fridge (was it Em)?

Saw my back doctor today and he gave me trigger point shots. Guess what- it seems to have worked. I don't know how long they last but there's also another procedure that's longer lasting.

I swear I have a doctor appointment or lab test every day between now and the end of March. If it will make me feel well enough to take walks on the beaches in April I don't care!!!

Miss you all!

I was wondering about that stuff the other day. I'm not sure about the ingredients. Is it gluten-free? I'm thinking the gravy part might not be.

Maybe I could start some threads asking if odd foods are gluten-free. Chocolate covered ants? Marmite? Pork rinds?

Commercial plates of the stuff are definitely NOT gluten-free, but I know it can be made with cornstarch as the gravy thickener. OMG, I have partaken in a plate of poutine only three or four times in me life. .. . ...felt just horrid afterwards. . . . . ....fat......salt... . . ..more phat.... . . .. . ..

I think just LOOKING at the stuff is high-cal.. . . . ...

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
